Let make it our spring goal, apparently the videos are really good for beginners. I just want to crochet a square. I would also quarantine your DH, i always say to mine to stay away if he's in any way germy 😂. You will understand this one, I've had a small flare due to the stress reaction to what happened 3 weeks ago here and my mouth inside is all cold sore blisters. Urgh, our ME bodies are the pits!

@1clavdivs i love that nsv, buy the jeans, i did and I'm nearly there, for public outings haha xx

Ooooh a spring crochet challenge sounds good. I keep thinking I should learn. My best friend is practically surgically attached to her crochet hook and loves it. My Mum always thought it was easier than knitting, kicking myself that I never asked her to teach me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2025 12:11

@MabelSpan that’s interesting that you are the same weight but diff measurements

I never kept track like that but I know I was 15s and lost 4s on we to get to 11s and they was a size 12

i think I was a 16/18 at 15s and obv 20 at 17s

@WorriedRelative I’m sorry yours didn’t fit but made me feel better as I’m a selfish Bitch lol

but well done on loss

sizing is weird - I should be able to get into a 16. I need to find non skinny jeans I think

@NippyNinjaCrabyoy must have very slender pins to get into skinny fit

I will not be crocheting

I am off to a (for me!) relatively posh restaurant for Valentine's Day with DH. We're then staying in a Castle! This time last year I would have been too uncomfortable with my weight to dare to go to this restaurant which in itself is ridiculous and ironic but that is how I felt. This year I am going to enjoy a tasting menu and lots of sparkling wine.

Happy Friday to everyone 🥳

Oh that sounds lovely, enjoy!!!

We're both poorly so will be staying in tonight. DH has bought me chocolate which is lovely and although I have never had much of a sweet tooth pre MJ I would have enjoyed them. My sweet tooth has reduced further thanks to MJ and I don't fancy them but he'll selflessly help me dispose of them 🤣

poppym12 · 14/02/2025 13:01

@Blondeshavemorefun , seriously, ditch the skinny anything! Get yourself to a branch of Next or order online. Wide leg jeans, barrel leg or even loose straight/tapered would change how you're looking at yourself.

I've always had huge thighs, even when 9.5 stone (compared to the rest of me). I was soooo glad to see the return of wide legs and combat style trousers last year as I refused to buy any skinnies knowing that I'd just look like I had 2 misshapen parsnips instead of legs.

weaselyeyes · 14/02/2025 13:01

Sorry for your poorliness @WorriedRelative! I admire your DH's entirely selfless act 😀

I'm loving the crochet goals! My mum taught me to knit, but I never learned crochet. She always told me it was easier, but I never believed her. I taught myself a few years ago from online videos, and I can now say - with great modesty - that I am an awesome crocheter! I've made blankets, christening clothes, fancy doilies (just to see if I could, who wants a lacy doily IRL...). Few things have defeated me, and when they do I like to blame the pattern quality 😀Annoyingly, I have to admit that in this instance my mother was right.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2025 13:04

Tbh I wasn’t trying skinny jeans on before. Just normal straight and didn’t fit

but the ones the lovely nippy sent me were skinny

which do not fit a fat arse like me

she’s a skinny scrabby scuttling crustian 😂😂😂

I am loved though - Mummy I need to get you flowers for Valentine’s Day as you are best mummy ever - so we went to the shop and she chose and paid for them by herself (with me watching from afar lol) 💖

Shoulders with @MabelSpan on the horror of the menopausal midriff. I haven't kept measurements from years ago but I have kept some clothes, and I can see that my size/shape at a similar weight is considerably changed for the worse since then! I guess it's age plus the fact that you can't keep on gaining and losing weight (as in my case) without some flabby consequences.

I have a swimming costume that has an extra skirt-like layer over the top, so I can tell myself I'm concealing a bit of my blubber. My blubber is now actually the same shape as the skirt, and to add insult to injury I think I'll need to buy a new swimming costume! I think I'll go for swim shorts to cover up some of the hideousness, but need to find a top I can live with that doesn't expose anything. Not looking forward to ever getting my bingo wings/built-in armbands out 😬

poppym12 · 14/02/2025 13:50

Very useful to know that you're a crocheter @weaselyeyes - no doubt I'll be picking your brains at some point!

I have no clue at all how to read a pattern. I'm just hoping I can achieve a square or rectangle.

I have been sewing today. The 4 linen shell tops I bought last year are now a 16 (ish) rather than a 20. I hadn't worn them much but definitely wanted some for this year so I got the sewing machine out and had a go. Not perfect but at least I won't get a stray floppy boob hanging out one of the armholes now.

poppym12 · 14/02/2025 13:52

And I'm also 'blessed' with the menopausal waistline. It has shrunk 6" but I don't think I'll ever go back to being without the flabby bit.

He's only thinking of my diet - honest!

I can't knit either. My Mum wasn't much of a knitter she tried to show me and I couldn't get the hang of it, then an aunt tried and failed, then a family friend who had successfully taught both her sons to knit. She couldn't quite believe how terrible I was!

I can however sew both by hand and machine.

Azuresky68 · 14/02/2025 15:05

@Weepixie such fabulous news. Sending congratulatory hugs 🤗
Sorry for for the STS @Blondeshavemorefun and anyone else who STS.
Congratulations on all the great losses.
@Motnight rather envious of your dinner and Castle stay. My fella isn't romantic but he is very generous and ticks 95% of the boxes and I am madly in love with him anyway...at my age I was lucky to find a man with his own teeth and hair, that I really fancied! He's very lucky to have me too! I don't even know if he is madly in love with me..he says the way he shows he cares is by doing rather than saying. My ex husband was full of romantic gestures but was vile to me, and much worse, he was vile to our DC's, which is why I divorced the horrible man.

I have had a read through everything to make sure I am keeping up. I don't crochet or knit but can sew. Skinny jeans are definitely out for me these days..it's straight legs at the moment. Size (when it comes to clothing 😅) really doesn't matter! I have clothes in all sorts of sizes. About 8 years ago my sister lost weight (she is the same height as me) and she gave me about 10 pairs of Gap jeans that were too big for her. They were all too tight for me. I tried them on yesterday and they were too big apart from a few pairs that are comfortably baggy. I am now around the same weight as her or maybe a couple of pounds less.
@NippyNinjaCrabthanks for your kind words and understanding x
I am doing my official weigh in tomorrow and still sticking with 1000 cals until my holiday in 3 weeks. This week I jabbed 12.5 and have been OK. Previous week I did 11 mg but topped it later in week. No big side effects apart from the usual tiredness. After 2 more 12 5 mg jabs it will be time to go down to 10 mg, then 7.5 for the pen after. Going to be very careful about maintenance and won't be stopping MJ suddenly anytime soon. Happy weekend you gorgeous ladies xx

I'm howling here 😂😂😂😂 i swear I'm not a skinny haha. Oh flip I'm gutted that they don't fit ffs and now I've offloaded my pile to you. Keep trying the jeggings they are regular fit i think 🤔

@weaselyeyes i was trying to do the first bit of the crochet from a YouTube video and it all nearly got launched with a fuck this after a while 😂 DH said watching my face was so funny, the frustration. I've been assured that Bella coco is brilliant for beginners.

whethertheweather · 14/02/2025 15:47

Hi @NippyNinjaCrab . I'm also a novice crotcheter. This site has free patterns that I'm using for a blanket I'm trying to create for imminent arrival of grandchild #3. It has really helpful video tutorials and stitch guides. Kerry Jayne Designs Crochet – Kerry Jayne Designs Ltd.

Early weigh in today as out for Valentines dinner with DH (1st time in 22 years) and damned if I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow. morning. 0.75lb off, which I guess is better than nothing.

Going to see Snow Patrol tomorrow, which I'm quite excited for. I don't know much about them, but my cousin is playing guitar with them while they are touring, so that's really why I'm going. Meeting family for dinner before - think this next week is just going to have to be written off!

Aw thank you @whethertheweather I will go and have a look, once I start and get going I'll be happy. That's my goal to make the squares for a blanket 🥰 have a fab time at the concert.
Xx

poppym12 · 14/02/2025 18:20

I've had a go at my first square @NippyNinjaCrab (after watching a video from Bella Coco). It's not a square. I obviously can't count as I've ended up with a triangle. No idea what I've done wrong 🤔.

weaselyeyes · 14/02/2025 18:28

Patterns usually say do these stitches and then repeat x3. This means do the same thing again 3 times, not including the first set of instructions. It sounds like you only did three sets of stitches in total.

owlyboo · 14/02/2025 18:41

@Blondeshavemorefun sorry you STS fingers crossed for a whoosh next week!

Hope the 💩 got rid of your pound @troppibambini6

Well done on the jeans @1clavdivs

Well done @NippyNinjaCrab and being proud of your reflection in photos is a fabulous feeling! My daughter likes to take really unflattering pictures of me without me knowing and sends them to me on Snapchat... it's very humbling 😂😂😂 also feel better soon!

@Blondeshavemorefun sorry about the jeans! They'll fit soon! And lovely valentines gifts. Mine did me a bag of little gifts and my daughter made me loads of cards bless her.

@weaselyeyes 6 stone is mental! You must have had to be careful going out in the wind! Well done on the loss!

@MabelSpan im sure you don't resemble mr greedy!

Well done on the loss @WorriedRelative and get well soon!

Well done on the jeans @Azuresky68

Well done on the loss @whethertheweather enjoy your meal and snow patrol!

Nothing really to report here... my mum did ask if I'd lost a lot more weight as my legs were looking really skinny 😂

Weigh day for me tomorrow I've got a feeling I'll sts again but we shall see.

I thought I was doing 20 on each row as that's the number in the chain I did but I kind of ran out of space very quickly!

I'm destined never to grasp crocheting. I wish I knew someone who does it who I could actually sit with but my only surviving relative is a big knitter, never crochet.

WorriedRelative · 14/02/2025 19:29

@owlyboo that's a NSV! Skinny legs, fab!

NippyNinjaCrab · 14/02/2025 19:50

Oh flipping Nora @poppym12 that will be me and @weaselyeyes your head will be pickled with the crochet questions, you shouldn't have admitted your talent haha.

I need to jab in 5 mins, I forgot today and then i wanted to wait until I'd had a meal. I feel so much better thank you everyone. For those asking, it wasn't knob dog who had the puke it was the pup. It's also puppy pants who's now got a weekly session with the trainer. Tbf to the wee spotty dickhead it's more my fault, I've not given him enough consistency so bad Mum. Knobby spot has actually been a good boy, well the last 24 hours anyway bless him.

I was starving earlier and made a sweet and sour stir fry with chicken, was eating it and then just couldn't eat anymore, I felt burst, I think I was eating too quickly.

weaselyeyes · 14/02/2025 21:26

That’s not a bad start! I think what you’re doing is missing out the stitches at the end of the row (ones at the end can be a bit tighter or tucked away), so you’re reducing stitches. When you start it’s best to count every stitch you do so you make sure you’re not missing any

NippyNinjaCrab · 14/02/2025 21:37

@poppym12 That's bloody brilliant!! I love that colour, I'm so doing this tomorrow, thank you for the tips so far too @weaselyeyes
It looks like a little hat lol xxx

AuntieDote · 14/02/2025 21:44

Happy Valentines all, we had a big fat steak for dinner and it was lovely!

Hope @Motnight is having a wonderful time in her castle!

Congrats all on losses, and sorry to those feeling poorly.

DD had an INSET day today, I took her trampolining which was a lot of fun. I don’t feel
so conspicuous doing stuff like that any more which is nice.
