I would expect a thread like this to be full of people that don’t find the eat less and move more approach to be helpful or effective.

For people with constant food noise, saying that 'just eat less' is like telling to an alcoholic to only have a couple of glasses, what's the big deal, others can do it!

MananaMananaPenelope · 18/02/2025 08:57

We’re all different aren’t we, the good thing is that the effects of this drug seem to be pretty universal.

The endocrinologist I see suggested that I might need to eat 1000 cals a day for weight loss as 1200-1500 a day has produced zero loss over a period of time. My BMR is 1830. Makes no sense does it, looks like she was right though.

Hormone treatment, steroids and chemo 🤬. I’ve never gained weight before, no yo-yo ing, just a steady climb through treatment to the peak of fatness.

Hopefully the weight loss god in the form of MJ will continue to do its thing and I’m very pleased to be alive and kicking!

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 18/02/2025 09:20

I am queen of the tortoises! I am W5 D2 - just moved up to 5 and I have lost a TOTAL of 3.5lbs! Many people seem to lose that in a week!

I’m hoping that the 5 will kick in and I’ll start seeing some proper loss and have that food noise switch off as I’ve seen so many people talk about.

I’ve had 4 days of bad headaches but whether this is a side effect or not, who knows. Either way, I’m pushing onward. Fingers crossed for a sudden, late start.

IBloodyLoveMyBlanket · 18/02/2025 09:45

I’m someone for whom eat less and move more does work, but I’m 15 and a half stone. I’m sure the granular detail is much more important the less you weigh. My target is 11.5 to 12 stone.

I’m tortoise-ish, having lost 8lb so far and I’m aiming/hoping for a 10lb loss by the end of the 5th dose.

I’m not bothered I haven’t lost vast amounts so far, I know the restrictions I’d have to place on myself to make that happen wouldn’t be sustainable for me.

Tortoises unite!

W4 D1, jab day. I’ve lost 1.4lb this week, total 6.6 over 3 weeks. I told myself at the start if this helps me comfortably lose an average of 2 lb a week I’d be happy with that. And that appears to be what is happening.

ive just ordered 5mg for next week. But I think I will do the golden dose from this pen. Part of me wants to jump straight into the 5mg, but what’s another week on 2.5 especially when it saves money in the long run?

Last night on one of the Facebook groups someone posted their last 20-30 weeks of losses. All around 0.5-2lb a week. And a few maintains and gains thrown in. Overall she has done incredibly well, those small losses keep adding up in the end!

TwinklyUmberTurtle · 18/02/2025 10:11

I’ve not had huge loses but I’m really happy to have lost 10 lbs in 4 weeks. I went up to 5 mg last weekend and last night I had spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread, two small glasses of wine and some popcorn and still lost 0.5 lbs today! I’m a habitual daily weigher. I don’t usually eat like I did last night but I just had small portions of it all and didn’t get to the point of feeling full.

DGonMJ · 18/02/2025 10:18

W7 D3 3.33mg
SW 79.6kg
CW 70.8kg - weight last seen on the scales in March 2018!
GW 60-65kg

Despite not feeling more suppressed on 3.33 compared to first few weeks of 2.5, I couldn’t hit calorie goal yesterday, so attempting to make up for it today. What’s great is I don’t have the early side effects of dry mouth and constant wake ups.

I could not have lost this weight without MJ. The appetite suppression helps me stay within calories and my caution over side effects has kept me from eating anything too fatty and staying hydrated.
I’ve now reached a weight that I haven’t been able to hit since I was in my late 30s on a calorie deficit and in the gym 4-5 times a week. Could go up tomorrow as I’m a daily weigher but I’m taking today’s win!

Constantdieter · 18/02/2025 10:45

Well done on the losses!! Amazing all of you!!
A small loss is still a loss (I know we say that all the time but it's so true!!)

I know someone asked this already but I don't think it was answered, but has anyone taken the bonus dose, and topped it off with a small dose from the new pen?
I've taken all 4 doses from my 2.5 pen, but have my bonus dose this Saturday.
I'd like to go to 3.75, so thinking of taking the bonus dose of 0.6ml (measured), then 15 clicks of the new 5ml one.
Personally can't see a problem if they're taken together, but has anyone done this?

RosaBaby2 · 18/02/2025 11:26

My weight fluctuates so much, I've lost 5lb since Friday's weigh in, the only weight I record is my Friday weight but it does piss me off when I have lost 5 today and then it's only 1 or 2 on Friday 😂

MJalltheway · 18/02/2025 11:28

I would recommend everyone reports their menstrual side effects (plus any others!) on the yellow card site - https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/
this is how they build up information about the potential side effects of medication. Clinical studies usually underrepresent women because of the risks of them being/falling pregnant during it, so often the effects of medication specifically on women are not necessarily what's expected in the side effects list on the packaging.
reporting the side effects really helps fill in this picture particularly if it's not something already listed for the medication.

Overthemoun · 18/02/2025 13:09

I’m feeling very conflicted about whether to go up to 5 or stick at 2.5.

I started on 2nd Jan and have lost 17lbs. Averaging around 1-2 lbs a week I think and no side effects really. Last week, I thought the jab was less effective but this week it seems to be in full swing again.

is anyone else still sticking to 2.5? I’ve had 7 doses now.

Candlemaker74 · 18/02/2025 13:45

Week 3 - 2.5

SW- 19.12
CW- 19.4
GW- 16
I have also lost 1cm from bust and hips and 4cm from stomach. Sticking to 3 small meals a day, restricting wine and exercising twice a week.

You could order a 5mg pen and take half doses of it while you decide. I think a couple of people have stuck at 2.5 but then found half way through the next one they wished they'd moved up so at least that gives you a little flexibility. I'm moving up to 5mg this week myself, I've done well on 2.5 but I'm feeling ready for more.

I'm planning exactly this as well this week, although was going to top up the 2.5mg remnants to make it up to 5mg.

I've just had my 5th dose of 2.5. I've got a 5mg pen in fridge but I'm planning on just doing 2.5 for now. I've lost 16.5lbs in the first 4 weeks, with good food suppression still, so no need to move up yet. Feels a good balance to get the 5mg pen just in case things change drastically over the next few weeks...

2025istheyeari · 18/02/2025 14:26

Hi all

Well done on the losses! In a previous life I was a ww leader ( that says it all doesn’t it 🤣) for a grand total of 2 months and I always used to say that it all adds up. I know it’s super disappointing not seeing the scales move as much as you’d like and I’m the worst, but we’ll get there, and it’s definitely more sustainable losing more slowly.

w7d1 here ( a day early as going away tomorrow and don’t want to fly with the pen!)

sw 16st 3.5 BMI 34.5
sw Mounjaro ( week later!) 15st 9.5
cw 14st 8 BMI 31 ( still obese but less so!)
gw 11st 7 ish

total loss 23.5 pounds
mounjaro loss 15.5

i lost a pound and a half last week and have definitely been hungrier and thinking about food more. I’m going to order my next pen when I’m home and going for 7.5, may as well!! I need to reduce my tea consumption I think, it’s been creeping up again and I’m counting my skimmed milk but not sure it’s the best use of calories!

Will be interesting to see how I do when I’m away, hoping to stay on track and lose 2 pounds to take me under the next half stone! I have a mini goal of 14stone by 22/3 much may be a push but let’s see! Then 13 9 is my next one for an overweight BMI.

GrumpyMuleFan · 18/02/2025 14:45

@Overthemoun I’m a bit behind you, but hoping to stay on 2.5. I’ve had 5 jabs with this and have lost good amounts of weight. I am keen to stay on a lower dose if it’s working. My suppression is not quite as good as the beginning, but I’m ok with that as it’s giving me headspace to think more logically about what I want to eat and drink. I want to change my habits and loose no more than 2lb a week. Will def review if stops working. I ended up with two suppliers this month and both asked several questions around sticking and on one I had to sign to say that I am not using it in the way prescribed /tested.

Constantdieter · 18/02/2025 18:09

Help!
No-one bar DH knows I'm on this jab.
Going out for for a ladies night (4 of us) in 3 weeks.
Mexican has been booked 😭
What on earth can I have that's healthy and not a boring salad?
I've googled and just nothing comes up!
Whereas Wagamamas where we are going Thursday with the DC has all the nutrition online!

I don't want to ruin any progress.
I know one night won't hurt, but I'm being so good!!

Good to know :)
As long as they're done at the same time in the same area, I'm assuming all would be good.

HeavyHeidi · 18/02/2025 18:12

*Constantdieter *any grilled chicken dishes on the menu? Salads?

Depends how you are approaching it. I'm aiming for high protein, high (well, moderate!) fat and lowish carb so I'd have fajitas but limit the number of wraps and just eat the meat, veg and cheese.

EverybodySayCheeze · 18/02/2025 18:23

@Constantdieter I find Mexican a great option on this - as PP has said go for fajitas and just eat all the meat and veggies. I also had fish tacos but just left most of the taco and had the fish/guac etc. Filling and not noticeable that you’re eating light

MJalltheway · 18/02/2025 18:24

Also have realised I'm cooking Mexican tonight so I'm having bean chilli, no rice just some tenderstem broccoli and avocado with it.

cherrycherryblossom · 18/02/2025 18:26

@YourMerryLemonWasp
Can only hope it settles down for us!

Howinthehelldidthishappen · 18/02/2025 18:26

NSV!
I've had to start wearing my fitbit one hole smaller on the wristband. It was annoying me earlier, and i realised I'd actually done it 2 holes smaller without it being ridiculously tight!
I never even thought to measure my wrists 🤣 but they're obviously smaller.
