Sustainability. An outsiders question

I am curious what happens when you lose all the weight. If no lessons about adequate nutrition have been learned do you need to be taking these injections for life?

You seem a bit angry. I am sorry if I have triggered you.

Why do you think this poster is triggered?

is that your aim? You also didn’t answer the question.

Several people have asked it. Why do you care what other people do?

Why is other people losing weight taking up any of your mental energy? There’s no impact on you. Or is that the issue?

You feel triggered and you feel people losing weight takes something away from you? That’s why you care.

Come on let’s be honest, this isn’t your first or every 3rd round of telling people ‘you could just do xyz’ your posting style is very obvious.

I am very sorry that you feel other people losing weight impacts you. But that’s something you need to work on. As I said before your obsession with other people’s weight is about you. It’s not about other people.

I think they are fat themselves. I do think this is the poster who is in her sixties and a bmi bordering on obese, but could be wrong, however I think this is someone who is fat. Can’t get the drugs, and is being goady due to it.

I think they are fat themselves. - Correct. I have been anywhere between 1 and 3 stone overweight in my adulthood

You need a BMI of 30+ or 27 with certain health conditions to qualify for the injections.

You had answers on sustainability from the very beginning of the thread, which you ignored.

If you qualify for the jabs and decide to take them, it's like any other means of losing weight - if you stop, you stand a high chance of regaining. Almost everyone who loses a significant amount of weight by any means will regain it plus extra within a few years. That's true of all weight loss regimes including those which claim 'it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change!'

If you want to take the injections, you should pay attention to what people tell you about how they work and understand that for success, you will need to eat a healthy diet with plenty of protein and to exercise regularly. It might help you to learn more about obesity as well.

If you take them, you may require a maintenance dose for life to maintain the weight loss.

Do you feel like your question has been answered yet?

Ah don’t do yourself down, you don’t need to know more. You’ve not only been given the answer many times, you also have it all sussed, with the eat less and move more. Make like it’s the 50s. Take your own advice.

go on. Eat less. Move more. Crack on op. No need to update us.

Why would you try and access them.

just because you choose to be overweight why would you want to access them?

Given you know the secret to losing weight and staying a healthy weight you must be choosing to be over weight. So you aren’t in the position of people who feel that they need these medications.

That’s like someone who has an occasional glass of wine and never feels like they need a drink trying to look into services that support alcoholics.

and let’s be honest, if you had done one shred of your own research instead of posting goady shit here, you would know why people use them and you would know more about the choices people have when they reach a healthy weight.

So it's my first option then. A "fattie" who 'knows' the solution to weightloss is eat less and move more but can't do it, yet thinks they can preach it. How typical.

Presumably she's put herself into the totally arbitrary 2% category she imagined to have a medical reason for being overweight and therefore exonerates herself from blame while judging nearly everyone else?

Yes they always have an 'valid' excuse but others don't get to. The cheek to preach what they can't/don't practice, eh

As much as she denies it, i am even more convinced this is the same poster who claims to be an hcp who haunts these threads telling everyone they need to eat less and move more.

Why don’t you eat less and move more to stop being overweight then? It’s simple after all and you’re only overweight because you’re greedy/know nothing about nutrition 🤷‍♀️

Shrinkingrose · 11/02/2025 18:32

read your comments,,,

The problem is that they either (i) eat too much or (ii) do not move enough. Often both.

i personally do not think that they do else they would not be that big

Obesity is not a disease unless we now define eating too much as a disease. 😂

Obviously for some people this is an emotive topic and getting defensive can be expected. But for 98% of those affected it's a function of their lifestyle choices, which is not a disease in my book

Sleep patterns, hormone changes, stress, medical etc etc. However I personally think these are all too readily used as excuses, and from experience SOME of these can be mitigated by some physical exertion and trying to eat well when possible.

and then surprise, I’m fat! So fat I’d even qualify for the drugs!

Laid out like that it's either disingenuous deliberate goading or else an insane level of cognitive dissonance!

If you'd asked nicely then you'd have had answers in the same tone. The wli board is one of the most generous in terms of giving advice and supportive places on mn.

Yes, the poster doesn’t think she’s like us lazy greedy ignorant fatties. Hence the use of the word “they” and not “we”. She doesn’t relate, and looks down on other fat people.

and I’d guess taking the drugs is just confirming to her that our laziness knows no bounds, we need medicated to lose weight and we need educating on whar to eat. And we will regain as we are too greedy and lazy to learn new habits.

not like her. She’s the one fat person who is different.

MsRumpole · 11/02/2025 19:23

Eh, who knows or cares about the OP's weight or back story? Question asked, question answered, leave her to it.

Just repeating this for you:

In most cases obesity is a multifactorial disease due to obesogenic environments, psycho-social factors and genetic variants.

There are more factors than 'knowing about nutrition' or thyroid issues. Many obese people and many people taking Mounjaro know a great deal about nutrition. There can be a gulf between knowing what to do and being able to do it and this gulf can be affected by the obesogenic environment, psycho-social factors and genetic variants. Meaning, a person's external circumstances, their mental health and aspects of their physical health too - maybe their thyroid, but also hormonal regulation and genetic makeup.

There is so much information on this thread; I hope you can find some of it useful in deciding what to do next.

If you know nothing, go find out about it.

Why are having an opinion on something you know ‘fuck all about’?
