HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THEIR GOALS WHETHER THEY WERE SMALL GOALS OR BIG GOALS!

Health and safety information regarding the medication:

Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro® (tirzepatide), outlines several potential side effects associated with its use. Common side effects include:
- Nausea
Diarrhea
Decreased appetite
Vomiting
Constipation
Indigestion (dyspepsia)
Stomach (abdominal) pain
These gastrointestinal symptoms are typically mild to moderate and often diminish over time as the body adjusts to the medication.
However, Mounjaro may also cause serious side effects, such as:
- Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis): Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe, persistent abdominal pain that may radiate to the back, with or without vomiting. - I want to personally add that not all pancreatic pain radiates to the back and can present a-typically in that it can just be present on the front or be hard to locate the source of pain.
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): The risk increases when Mounjaro is used in combination with other medications that can cause hypoglycemia, such as sulfonylureas or insulin. Symptoms may include dizziness, sweating, confusion, headache, blurred vision, shakiness, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, irritability, hunger, weakness, and feeling jittery.
- Serious allergic reactions: Discontinue use and seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing or swallowing; severe rash or itching; fainting; or rapid heartbeat.
- Kidney problems (kidney failure): Dehydration resulting from nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea can worsen kidney issues. It's important to maintain adequate fluid intake to reduce this risk.
- Severe stomach problems: Inform your healthcare provider if you experience severe or persistent stomach issues.
- Changes in vision: Report any vision changes during treatment to your healthcare provider.
- Gallbladder problems: Symptoms may include pain in the upper stomach, fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), and clay-colored stools.
Eli Lilly emphasizes the importance of discussing any side effects with your healthcare provider, especially if they are bothersome or persistent. They also advise reporting side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or via the FDA MedWatch website.
For comprehensive information, refer to the Mounjaro prescribing information provided by Eli Lilly.

Please all remember that we aren't medical professionals and so if you do have questions about side effects it is important that you contact your supplier, as well as 111 or your GP as soon as possible.

Another side effect is hair loss, this is normal for anybody new to this discussion. I hope I can put your mind at ease. Our hair goes through 2 phases, the anagen stage, where it is active growth, and the telogen stage where the growth stops. Whenever your body is in a deficit, and is finding it's new equillibrium, your hair is likely to go into a telogen stage, and so an increased amount of hair shedding is to be expected.

Things that can help are making sure that your hair is nourished, and that you're using the right type of hairbrush for your hair so you aren't causing more breakage which then gives the appearance of more significant hair loss, as well as really making sure you're hitting your protein goals for the day.

Protein isn't the only important thing you need to focus on. You need fibre. Natural sources of fibre are going to be best as in vegetables and fruits, but if you have to supplement that's also fine. Fibre intake is important for bowel movement regulation, as Mounjaro does slow down the digestive system.

Lastly, make sure you're getting in enough liquid. It's very easy to dismiss thirst if your appetite is suppressed. It will stave off a lot of the headaches that are common with Mounjaro, keep you feeling your best, and will also help with any constipation you may be having.

Happy thread 24 everybody, and the first thread of 2025 in this series. It's wonderful having you all, and I can't wait to see what this month brings us all.

Hello all, I did my second jab yesterday, lost 3kg in the first week which was a bit of a shock. Have been struck with a horrible virus all week so have been completely out of routine and home in bed all week. Starting to come out of the end of it, so this coming week will be a lot more normal. Lunches at work (food provided) will be a bit more of a challenge than making my own at home.
My general approach is intermittent fasting though, it worked really well for me several years ago so I'm using the Mounjaro to help get back to that and cut out snacking which is my absolute downfall.

The OMAD approach has worked well for me these past few weeks but part of that was necessity as I was also in and out of bed with some sort of flu.

Luckily my suppression isn't so high I can't finish a meal, but it's high enough to stop me wanting to snack and eat other meals in the day. I don't deprive myself a nice cup of tea or flavoured drink though so it's not technically intermittent fasting.

@NorthernGirlie i inject on a Friday. I’m always fine on a Friday and then feel sickly and can’t eat on a Saturday and the diarrhoea starts Saturday evening. It means I’ve got the weekend to feel a bit off and then I’m back to normal by Monday. When I’m having a night out, I just delay my jab until the Saturday instead :) good luck!

Every week you are poorly ?

maybe drop down a pen and strength

I couldn’t do the 💩 every week

morbidcuriosity · 01/02/2025 15:17

I'm asking this on a couple of threads, so apologies if you've read or already answered me..

Has anyone switched to oushk? . I want to as I need to choose a delivery day as finding it hard to be in when guessing when orders are approved etc.

My question is my last box (7.5) has Dec 29th order date on it, but I've not even started that pen yet, got my bonus dose to do then start it..
Will they let me order if the date goes much further, was gonna order now for delivery about 12th Feb . But then I don't actually need it till like 6 weeks from now. I used discounts etc that's why I have a full pen still and not ordered for a while..

QueenOfHiraeth · 01/02/2025 18:03

@Jimmyneutronsforehead I am so sick of these wretched discount codes, they crop up on so many threads and, I swear, every post on TikTok. I can't imagine the stress of the posters trying to scramble over each other to get theirs used but it certainly stresses me!

This did amuse me though

This is why I'm scared to swap to Oushk despite their great maintenance plan - no way am I uploading a pic with my mush on it!

I'm with Ashcroft, who I'm very happy with, but they ask for a photo in close fitting clothing holding a paper with the date written on.
My photos are truly awful but I reassure myself that I live many miles away and, in the vanishingly rare chance of meeting one of their team I would be glammed up, so unrecognisable Grin

Do you have to show your face? And do they offer a maintenance plan? I'm with juniper but no idea about maintenance with them.

Karmakamelion · 01/02/2025 20:51

Any help for the awful sulphur burps? I'm on 10mg and changed from wergovy about 6 months ago and have only maintained not lost. Any advice?

I do show my face and, to be honest, have never really thought about it but I use my resting bitch face and reassure myself that they will barely notice me. I reckon they'll see so many they'll barely register them and older women are invisible anyway.
I have no idea about maintenance as I'm losing slowly and still way off but you could email or call them. I've always found them quite responsive

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 02/02/2025 06:54

Good Morning All, long time no update.

Having lost 75lbs, I attempted maintenance from the end of Nov through to the start of Jan, took my dose right down - it didn't work for me - I gained 12lbs.

I don't know if it was the wrong time of year to try this, I wasn't in the right frame of mind maybe, or my body just wasn't ready, but I didn't like it! Maybe my maintenance dose also needs to be higher?

I will try again, need to re-lose my gain and then a bit more too.

I'm feeling back on track now and the suppression is good. Im exercising well too, training for a number of events this year.

Has anyone else found that the high protein mousses/puddings etc give them a real uncomfortable bloat? This is new for me as I lived off these when I first started on WLI - now I'm leaning towards far less processed foods for my protein - which can only be a good thing I suppose!

All this to say, it really is a journey with ups and downs - it's certainly not the easy route at all. I'm coming up to 2years on meds now (I started out on ozempic) and I'm still learning!

Have a great day everyone.

They are treated confidentially, to verify your identity and ensure you are the size you say you are. They aren't stored or used for anything else. Pharmacies are heavily regulated so must protect your data robustly.

My first pen is being delivered tomorrow. We're heading out for a meal for my son's birthday tomorrow night - any advice on when to start?

I'm a full time teacher and a bit worried about side effects - don't fancy explosive diarrhoea when sharing a bathroom with teenagers!

In that case I would do the first jab on Friday when you first get home from work to give yourself maximum time to get over it before work.

Hopefully you won't get diarrhoea or anything else unpleasant. I haven't had any side effects that have disrupted work.

You may want to adjust this in future to consider when in the week you get maximum suppression and when you get any side effects.

GlueNoGlue · 02/02/2025 11:01

@Blondeshavemorefun yeah I’ve been ill every week. On week 47 this week. I contacted Asda early on and they said it’s a known side effect and basically tough. The only time I’m not ill is when I’m on holiday, I’ve discovered travel sick pills suppress the diarrhoea. No idea why but they work :)

That doesn’t sound fun and you’ve lost 6st +

why did you stay on it for so long

tho if taking travel pills /sick pills daily that must help

GlueNoGlue · 02/02/2025 16:04

@Blondeshavemorefun i started at 20 stone so even though I’ve lost 7 I’m still overweight. To be honest I’ve gotten used to the poops and I keep thinking that if you’d asked me a year ago if I’d be willing to have diarrhoea three days a week and would lose weight this easily then I’d do it :) I only take the pills when I’m on holiday (and for two days at Christmas because I didn’t want to be ill then). The rest of the time I just get on with it. I work from home so it’s not too bad!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/02/2025 17:32

Sounds as legit @GlueNoGlue tbh. To be that poorly on it but continue

why not take the tablets every day

or get some cyczline ?

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 02/02/2025 22:55

Sad to report that the salads are working.

I've been having 2-3 salads a day with a source of protein, either chicken or egg or sometimes both which feels slightly morally adjacent.

Also sad to report I feel like I've got a lot more energy, my sleep is better and the sight of pasta and rice is giving me the ick.

Thought I'd just try it for a week and see how close I can get to a BMI of 40 so I can sign up for the free leisure center activities but I'm really enjoying the variety in salads.

Tried to recreate this broccoli cabbage and quinoa pot with mango chutney that tesco used to sell and I'm even sad to say I think I actually improved on it.

In a way it feels really liberating because DP is a self professed salad dodger and so his life has become my life and I'd forgotten just how much I really like them.

I am having to drink more water to combat the sudden increase in fibre though and my stomach does feel heavier after eating.

Hello. I'm not sure if this is helpful or not. I have ordered with Pharmulous the last few times and have been impressed with the email responsiveness. They have several good reviews, a few of which mention that they can choose the delivery day by liaising with the team directly. I wfh so haven't tried this out myself.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 03/02/2025 19:43

Jab day tomorrow and I'm usually very challenged on the last day of the week hungerwise but I think I'm doing pretty well actually.

Did have fruit corner yogurt though but that's been my only sweet treat this week and I've still been really satisfied. I could usually eat 2 or 3 back to back.

Morning everyone, I've woken up to Radio 4 telling me about the crackdown on pharmacies prescribing these medicines. Because I'm a huge worrier anyway, I'm so worried about what this will mean. I've lost nearly 4 stone but still have nearly two to go. It mentioned needing full access to your GP records and face to face contact. Not that I mind about either especially, but I'm worried how this might impact availability and cost etc.

Anyone else hear this today, and have any thoughts,.please?

I'm for tighter policies but I don't see what they'd get from face to face that video consultations can't offer.

It would cost a significant amount for a lot of online pharmacies to be able to see people in brick and mortar buildings.

I don't think you have to worry to be honest. I think WLI are the new target to bully but when there's push back they'll soon give up.

FWIW I have ordered medication that isn't WLI before where a provider has needed specific information from a GP and they just have the GP email over the necessary parts and not anything else and it was a smooth transition.

OP posts:
WorriedRelative · 04/02/2025 09:30

Oushk have updated on this. There is nothing official from the regulator on this so no compulsory changes yet, this is still all talk.

It is likely many pharmacies will start to beef up their checks pre-emptively but it shouldn't impact orders already in the pipeline.

OrangeWire · 04/02/2025 18:32

Just checking into the new thread, I haven’t posted in ages!

SW: 22st 11.8lbs
CW: 17st 5.2lbs
GW: 14st 10lbs (for now)

I can’t believe it’s real sometimes and that I’ve actually lost so much weight! I’m on 7.5 and have been for ages but my next pen is a 10mg.

Porlocks · 05/02/2025 17:42

Wow, @OrangeWire, that's incredible. Well done!

I have a question for anyone please. I know I'm over thinking things and worrying a lot at the minute!

I've been on 10mg but I feel like it's stopping working and food noise is coming back / I'm often hungry /my calories are creeping up etc. I want to go up to 12.5mg, but do all the doses stop working eventually? What if I get up to 15 and that stops working and I still need to lose? I keep reading that people want to stay on it to maintain, but how will that work if the effect wears off? Thank you for any thoughts.
