I'm really not understanding the magic behind only eating when I'm hungry! I'm actually choosing to drink water over my usual coffee because I'm thirsty and although my mouth is not dry it feels it - if that makes sense? I'm hoping this continues! I even ate a treat tonight and didn't finish the box which did me is an absolute triumph. Normally if there is a few in the box they call me from the cupboard until I give in. Hoping everyone has an amazing weekend Smile

BruhWhy · 25/01/2025 21:11

Ooh I have a savage headache. Given in and taken some painkillers. Felt it coming on before lunch and made sure to drink lots and still haven't been able to kick it.

I'm reading that it's a very common and expected side effect and to drink more, but basically wait it out as the body adjusts to the medication 🙏

I totally get what you mean by the dry mouth feeling even if it's not actually dry. My tongue feels like wet sandpaper

Sorry to hear quiet a few with side effects.
@SianyEvs40 yep I was super tired first 2 days, like falling asleep at my desk.
Improved through week and may be better eating choices or MJ, but energy back.

Overall I feel my sleep is worse since on MJ. Either disturbed by needing a wee cos I been drinking so much or just wake early. Hoping it settles.

I am a bit annoyed with myself, jab 2 is tomorrow and have noticed some hunger creeping back.
Went to. Party tonight, said I wouldn't drink but had 2 glasses of Prosecco and handful or 2 or crisps and nuts 🙄.

Stomach aches now, really gurgling and frustrated I have in as weigh in the morning too. Hoping for good results as actually been a saint all week.
Shhhh tummy & intestines !!!!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 25/01/2025 23:41

@gillirhys Well done with the performances! Yay for second jab!
Welcome @Vix333
@SianyEvs40 Yes I've really struggled with the tiredness in the first 2 weeks. Not feeling it as much this time so who knows maybe it's lessening...

I jabbed yesterday afternoon and I think it was 4-5 hours later I felt SO sick. I really couldn't risk a morning jab. It was horrible and I went to bed. This morning I've had nausea but it worse off and the day was okay once I was up and out so I'm really hoping it wont last as long as it has the last 2 jabs. I want to go up to 5mg but also wary of side effects.

I was v impressed with pharmacy. I ordered fri am early and drugs arrived sat am!!! Its one part of Shemed that is working so we don't need to worry about actually getting the drugs on time!

I noticed just before my jab I was more aware of hunger so I think it wears off. I must admit if I am actually hungry in my stomach rather than just "I really fancy chips" I will be eating as I want to be eating in response to hunger. I am trying to eat at least 3 times a day but the morning one is hard when feeling nauseous.

I've officially started! Dose 1 taken this morning. Sundays are usually quiet home days for me so I'm going to be on side effect watch! Feels good to have taken the leap. It was weird after all this time thinking about it, I finally had the jab in my hand. I really hope this works for me.

themumformerlyknownas · 26/01/2025 09:14

Hope everyone's managing okay! 💐

My blood tests are back and despite slightly high LDL and low HDL I'm happy with everything else. Blood sugars as expected following 2 pregnancies with GD and my liver enzymes are slightly high but I'm putting this down to my Sertraline medication which I aim to be OFF by April!

Next step now - just waiting for a clinician to review my labs and then 🤞 I can get started this week.

Oh how exciting!
Me too. I was really surprised to see the notification this morning as I assumed the lab wouldn't be working on weekends.

My cholesterol was the same as well but everything else was fine.

Maybe we will get our pens the same time too. What day are you planning on jabbing?

Ahh yay someone on a similar timeframe as me! Tbh I've not yet decided - I WFH so no risk of 💩 myself in public thankfully 😅 Although have 2 DC to contend with over weekends so I might actually jab as soon as I get the pen so hoping Tues or Weds? That way I've a few days to recover before the weekend while DC are at school and nursery. What about you?

Really interesting - thanks for sharing - the longer I take MJ the more I’m convinced I had a food ‘addiction’. It is a revelation not to be obsessing about what I’m going to eat next and whether I have enough snacking material in. (I can now confess to raiding the baking cupboard for cooking chocolate at times of desperation 😂) I also have no interest in alcohol and much less interest in coffee (I would normally drink loads).
It really is a game changer!
Looking forwards to a slimmer, healthier me 😊
I almost wish I wasn’t keeping this a secret from everyone I know as I want everyone to know how bloody brilliant it is.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/01/2025 12:26

Wow, I have done my week 1 weigh in...

I was 136kg when I signed up to SheMed. Eating well waiting to start for a week took me to 135.4.

I weighed this morning (before eating/drinking) 131.9kg. That's is 4.1Kg loss!!
Also lost 5cms around my waist!!

I know I have changed time of day to weigh but hope this will be more consistent going forward as will do under same conditions.

I am over the moon with this 8lbs lost while on MJ just this week. I have the direct comparison of 1lbs loss the week before (not on MJ but had started exercising and healthy eating).

Yes water loss and less bloat but must also be some actual loss!
There is a long way to go still and I know this level will not continue but WoW! Over the moon!

Newshoesnewname · 26/01/2025 12:47

@themumformerlyknownas I was going to do Friday morning as it's the only time I'm in the house alone (keeping it to myself for now to avoid any negative comments).

Having seen others jab and check in at different times though I'm wondering if it would be Ok to jab on a Thursday before bed and do the check in on Friday morning. My thinking is that I have the chills etc or feel nauseous I can maybe sleep through the worst of it.

I don't know if that's pushing the boundaries though?

Yours seems like a good plan so hopefully it works for you 🤞

gillirhys · 26/01/2025 12:49

Nightmare!!
Went to do jab 2 today and pen failed. Tried everything. Went online to do check in with them and they confirmed pen is duff. 😭😭 Now have to wait for them to contact me to get new pen

NervousPoster1 · 26/01/2025 12:53

I took my first jab on Thursday, I had a terrible reaction to mounjaro and ended up in a&e. I reported the side effects via SheMed's website and it said that someone would call me on Monday.
What are the chances of them letting me out of the contract? I don't feel safe taking it again after my first jab.

NervousPoster1 · 26/01/2025 12:55

RedHillLady · 23/01/2025 12:46

I know of one person who has been prescribed wegovy....she had previously had a bad reaction to mounjaro. The default option seems to be mounjaro.

Oh no what a nightmare. Just when you were all prepared and ready to go 😥

Do you have a specific day in mind for jabbing? If so I guess it will set you back a week. If you don't mind which day though you will hopefully have a new pen in couple of days 🤞

I started last week, and pen worked fine. So this was second jab. And it failed. So have to wait now for support team to contact me. It's totally messed my schedule but also my mindset because code Sunday due to all the activities I have in the week. Gutted

RedHillLady · 26/01/2025 13:14

@NervousPoster1

So sorry you had such a bad experience. What did A & E say........did you have pain or D & V
I'm afraid only SheMed can answer that question for you.

themumformerlyknownas · 26/01/2025 13:22

Totally understand! I've come clean to DH so he knows if I do have any side effects this is why 😅 that plan sounds sensible. Gives you the weekend to rest up that way, too!

I'm not a big drinker but I am hoping that it makes it easier to ditch smoking

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/01/2025 14:58

@Mieliwood
Yep I have had the exact same thought too.
I was telling my husband about it last night when ginger came back and I also gave into x2 glasses of wine and some crisps having not even considered all week.

I cried my eyes out. I explained it is so sad that this drug is the first time I really understood my eating habits and what a disadvantage in life it is. I so desperately want to have a normal relationship with food, but whenever I set out to do this, I just obsess about food even more then end up 'failing' and putting weight back on.
I want MJ for life!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/01/2025 14:59

Hunger not ginger

xxCatCrazyxx · 26/01/2025 15:27

I would definitely say that the biggest issue for me so far has been tiredness. Whacked yesterday but came on today so all kind of makes sense. I do get a bit panicky every so often will I be able to cope with it for the next year, somehow I will have to find a way!

I've got friends now planning things for the next few months, I'm not telling anyone else apart from DH I'm doing this so have no idea how I'll explain my lack of appetite or not wanting to drink. I do plan to have the odd drink when I'm out but everyone is used to me going with the flow. How do I explain this? I can't be doing with people questioning what I'm doing as I know some will not approve. I've never talked to anyone about my struggles with weight/BED although from my fluctuations it must be clearly obvious!
