Welcome to thread 6 friends old and new! Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we traverse into 2025 with new bodies and new mindsets πŸ₯°

I’m on W11D5 and on my second 5mg pen
F in her early 50’s
H 5’ 5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 12st 2.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look too saggy!)
Total loss so far 23lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in my system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes, tips for side effects and we love a beauty/fitness/style chat too.

Happy Friday!

I think my pen just broke doing my 4th dose πŸ˜”. I had to force it to turn to 1 as it stopped before then when I jabbed it didn’t go all the way back to 0, so I got slightly less than I should have, but no idea how much I was under by and it will NOT force back to 0.

Has this happened to anyone else? I am wondering if it is due to the 3.75 dose I took at the beginning somehow.

I am not terribly worried as I have insulin needles for next week, but will be second guessing all week how much I got.

From this pen I have had
1x 3.75
3x 5

So there is a fair bit left and not sure how to use it up next week, might bosh the lot if I don’t start suddenly getting side effects this week.

LegoDaft · 20/01/2025 13:30

11 weeks down and 26lbs gone forever! Fingers crossed next week I can reach 2 stone. 🀞🏼

I still have a lot of weight to lose but being on Mounjaro feels like having a secret weapon. For the first time in any of my many weight loss journeys over the years I feel like I can actually stick to this and reach my goal.

SerenePeer · 20/01/2025 13:46

Oceangrey · 20/01/2025 09:39

Officially a stone down this morning!

That's 7.6% of my starting weight, over 10 weeks.

If I continue at the same rate then by late May I'll be down to a weight which is a) officially not overweight, b) around the same as I was when I got married c) around the same as I was at university d) an easy size 12.

Still hard to believe, but a lot easier than it used to be!

I'm in disbelief too that this is actually working for me! Found myself eyeing up a jumpsuit at the weekend and knowing that in another few months I'll be able to rock something like that!

jay55 · 20/01/2025 13:57

So happy to hear of all the milestones, and near stones coming through.
It's all motivating. Congrats to all

Being able to enjoy clothes shopping is a great non scale win. Though I'm not sure if there will be any shops left by the time I reach goal.

redavocado · 20/01/2025 14:00

It's lovely to hear everyone's amazing results!! I finally saw my first post-Christmas loss this morning. I've hit 71kg so I'm only 1kg above a healthy bmi and an imperial weight starting with a 10! Yes, I measure in both! πŸ˜‚

Ooh non stretchy jeans @SerenePeer πŸŽ‰

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen

Well my itchy thighed friends I'm sorry to report that using an insulin syringe for it's longer needle hasn't prevented the injection site reaction 😩 having said that as I inject at an angle with syringe rather than perpendicular with a pen needle the depth won't have been vastly different so I may still get some long pen needles to try.

Eurax, hydrocortisone & antihistamine is my only plan now unless anyone has any other suggestions?🀞

I'm the same! 😫 I tried a 6mm pen needle this weekend and not only has it still become red and itchy it's also given me a big bruise. Delightful.

So annoying. Hydrocortisone and antihistamine cream are the only things that help it settle.

Edited

I've had some experience of this as I have meddled with short doses. My experience is that the pen will give around 245 clicks total before it locks out (4x60 click doses plus a few for the priming). I haven't tried to force it when it stops, just taken the dose it would give me, working out how much I had from the number of clicks I got, and then topped up using a syringe to get what I needed of the leftover liquid out. If there is still some left, I use it next time and then start a new pen. Of course you then don't need a full dose, so the saga starts again....πŸ™„

I definitely think that if you are happy using separate insulin syringes, it's best not to try and force the pen.

Difficult to tell how much you got, but would guess it was short of 5mg. I wouldn't 'bosh the lot' of what you have left - could be most of a whole dose again! Would be tempted to top up 1mg (so 0.12ml) with the syringe and hope I was close to 5mg, but not too much over!

ShaunaSadeki · 20/01/2025 14:30

Thank you @MounjNewb very helpful. I am not topping up this week, I don’t think, just considering taking whatever is left next week as I have stuck with 5mg for my next pen but was torn between that it moving up so thought 6.25 or whatever is left in there would be a good experiment to see if I have made the right decision.

But maybe that is the whole β€œfinish your plate whether you want/need it or not as otherwise it is wasteful” mentality that got me into this chubby mess!

LilyRose88 · 20/01/2025 15:52

Does anyone know of an app like Shotsy that is free and allows you to monitor the amount of Mounjaro in your system? I did download Shotsy but you have to pay a monthly subscription to monitor the amount of Mounjaro in your system. Thanks!

If you click on calendar you will see estimate. I don’t pay subscription.

Just to report that the 5mg has given me a decent suppression boost. Was only able to eat half a portion of porridge and didn't finish it. Have ordered some Huel powders so that I have something for breakfast. Haven't weighed in yet, though, will do that on Friday.

Me too! I’m loving the initial bounce of 5mg (and really pleased that side effects have been minimal - actually at the moment the indigestion is much better (probably because there is so little to digest!!!). Only issue I’m having is low blood pressure, which I don’t think is helped by low food intake. I need to work really hard to drink more. But horrah for 5mg 😁

I blame my mum for making me clear my plate for my weight πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

@Goldleafcat they are twats. On the plus side they say my muscle mass is green (and dark green at that) although skeletal muscle is blue so low. I ignore the water. Doesn't everyone weigh before they drink and after they pee? Every ounce counts πŸ˜‚

I weigh in the morning, ideally after a long sleep, having been to the loo and before I drink anything 😁 I will take what ever I can 🀣

murraymcgill · 20/01/2025 16:14

@LegoDaft that's a great loss well done

murraymcgill · 20/01/2025 16:21

1lb loss this week and I've tried my hardest but it's a loss so I'll take it and it makes me Over weight

PinkArt · 20/01/2025 16:21

NSV, had my hair cut today and found looking at my face for an hour considerably less depressing than it was back in October. It's still very soft around the edges but by my next cut I might have the start of a jawline again!

murraymcgill · 20/01/2025 16:24

Will Oushk take me on if my BMI is below 30 I'm 13st 3 and 5ft 6 I'm going onto 10mg and it's alot cheaper I've fulled everything in fingers crossed

Goldleafcat · 20/01/2025 17:07

@DarkForces I can agree the scales are harsh!! I am at least 1kg heavier on them than on my WW scales. And they have given me a metabolic age of 51, the cheeky sods (I’m 44).

On a happier note my muscle mass is also dark green, and by bone mass is Green too. Skeletal muscle is blue. Will be interesting to see how things adjust over the coming months!

Demjay · 20/01/2025 17:32

So I have a new symptom 😩. Major loss in taste! Everything tastes of rubber. Anyone else??!

Cantbesure · 20/01/2025 17:35

I have In Smart Health scales and they say I'm 5 years older than my actual age. Twats!!!!

Cantbesure · 20/01/2025 17:37

@murraymcgill I think the policy for oushk is ok until BMI 25 and then on an individual basis between 19 and 25.

I've just sent my photos to Zava. Hoping they approve me for 7.5mg.

phyllidafosset · 20/01/2025 17:37

Very pleased to say the jeans I bought on Black Friday, which my husband gave me for Christmas, actually fit!!! I thought they were smaller than that, so I’m glad I tried them!! They are three waist inches smaller than the ones I was wearing before I started (and those were tight). I am now going to shelve my larger jeans (with the aim of giving them away) 😁πŸ’ͺ

murraymcgill · 20/01/2025 17:42

@Cantbesure I've been with Zava but the price just goes up if your buying and u only get a discount code if u get someone to join I've 3x 7.5 left but trying to get it cheaper if not I'm going it alone Good Luck

That’s exactly what I do!

Cantbesure · 20/01/2025 17:49

@murraymcgill thanks. It's been the same with MedExpress who I've had my pens with so far. I'm doing zava as it's the cheapest for 7.5mg (with a friend's code) and then probably going to move to oushk.

I'm hoping for a pound a week loss which should mean I'm close to 25 after my next pen. If it all goes to plan... and then move to oushk for the last half stone and potentially maintenance.
