Golden dose syringes

Hello, I'm going to use the 'golden dose' on my mounjaro pen and looking to purchase the syringes to draw it out. Does anyone have any recommendations for or links they can share for ones they've used which work well? Thanks in advance.

Google 1ml 8mm 32G syringe and pick from a uk medical supplier (not amazon)

olympicsrock · 14/01/2025 15:06

Just do a hard twist . Much easier

I did do that on previous ones but last two I've done that the plunger thing has broke!

Definitely worth having a couple of syringes in for cases like that.

Maybe they've cottoned on to the fact people were getting 5 doses out Blush

I tried the hard twist with my last one and it didn't work for me unfortunately

same here, previous 5 pens hard twist worked fine, this one was very different. The snap when twisting happened more than once and on the last snap the dose knob went loose/turned freely and when pushed down didn't operate the plunger in the vial.

Worth having syringes on standby.

I struggled to hard twist some of my pens too! Better to have syringes in case you need to use them

Would these work for the golden dose ?

Those aren't meant for human use and the reviews are terrible. I wouldn't buy from Amazon, you need a genuine medical supplies website like UK Medi as linked upthread.

Lola3034 · 18/01/2025 23:14

As previous poster said, make sure they are medical grade.

For anyone who has used insulin needles for their golden dose - do they have to be 32G or can they be 30G?

the only difference is 32G is finer than 30G (the higher the gauge the finer the needle) and therefore potentially more comfortable. Both "work".

Anyone know if UK Medi posts in discrete packaging? I don’t want OH to know what is coming through the post.box!!

lucindalucinsa · 18/03/2025 01:48

I’d like to try this too.
Do I do a 1mg dose each day of a 12;5 pen?
thanks

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/03/2025 05:14

@lucindalucinsa I’m a little confused by what you are asking but no.

The fifth dose (it’s not ‘golden’! This stupid name is why some people get confused😡) is taken the week after the 4th dose from a pen enabling you to get a ‘free’ week. You draw out and inject 0.6ml of liquid from which ever strength pen you have. So if you’re on 12.5mg, you draw 0.6ml to get your regular dose. You never inject daily.

partyfoodpickingpiggy · 18/03/2025 06:52

@MJBearyes UK Medi packaging is discreet, mine came in a small plain Jiffy bag.

TorieMJ · 18/03/2025 10:15

I just hold the end with the nut cracker and twist it a little bit more firmly. Has worked most times.

MrsCob888 · 14/04/2025 19:27

Hi I have purchased These needles but I’m unsure how much to administer do I administer 60? Just confused as it’s in units? Thanks 😀

SilenceInside · 14/04/2025 19:30

@MrsCob888 It's a 1ml syringe. The units are hundredths of 1ml, or a microlitre. So yes, 60 units on a 1ml syringe will be 0.6ml which is a full dose of whatever pen strength you have.

MrsCob888 · 14/04/2025 19:46

@SilenceInside thank you

SilenceInside · 14/04/2025 19:51

A small self correction that doesn't affect your actual answer... a hundredth of a millilitre is 10 microlitres, not one microlitre.

So, 60 is still what you need.

Just saying “hi” in solidarity as I, like you, am keeping my MJ journey a secret from everyone including him. I’ve got my pen hiding in the back of the fridge in a white bag in the bottom of a fridge organiser and my sharps bin, the prescription box and literature hidden in my bedside! Am strategically ordering so it arrives whilst he’s at work. I WfH!

mamaxbear · 21/04/2025 16:26

@Iamnewaroundhere @MJBear
just curious as to how you manage to keep it from your OH? And why do you choose to do this? Have they noticed your weight loss?

AzureExpert · 14/05/2025 21:13

Monjaro
See on this syringe how much is 2.5 dose from a 15mg pen

Many thanks for help in advance

Workgetsintheway · 06/06/2025 15:44

Hi everyone, on my 3rd pen & I haven’t been making use of this extra dose, can I ask on the syringes linked above are the actual needles the same size as the MJ ones or are they bigger/longer ? Thanks all for any help you can give xx
