Is there a Mounjaro January starters thread?

Exactly that. Is there already a thread for people starting Mounjaro in January? I've had a look but can't see one. My first dose is tomorrow, and I'm feeling a bit anxious. Wondered if anyone else is embarking on this particular weight loss journey now/soon?

@Shmee1988 I don't know if the OP of the thread linked meant it to be an actual 'January starters' thread but it turned out that way as lots of other posters were gearing up to start in January too 😊 so that's what it's used as now.

I agree the thread title means that those who're looking for a 'January Starters thread' (as per other months' thread titles) might miss it but hopefully your thread will now help lead them to it with the link from the pp.

Happy jabbing tomorrow!

I just did my first injection this evening at 5:30pm. I too was apprehensive about it, although I’m not sure why, I’m definitely not frightened of needles, so that wasn’t the reason for apprehension. Anyway I took the plunge and am looking forward to losing weight. I have a couple of friends who have been on it a few months and their results are very good; they don’t appear to have had any major negative effects.

I'm not massively overweight at 13stone 10lbs and 5’8” tall…most of the excess weight is on my stomach so with any luck I’ll shed the 2 stone I’m hoping to lose by the time our daughter gets married in June

Good luck to us and everyone else beginning soon 😊

Well done!! I'm really apprehensive too. I've had mine if the fridge for 2 weeks. It just never seems to be the right time to start. Christmas, new year, kids off school, back to work etc. I keep putting it off. I have friends who have also had good results. I need to lose weight stone, ideally in the next 18 weeks when we go on holiday. We've got this!!! Let us know how you feel tomorrow :)

I've been on it for about five weeks , lost 18 pounds. Was nervous but no real side effects. Apart from the burps- my god they are awful lol

Mines been in the fridge since mid December too, I also kept thinking that I wanted to get Christmas over with and didn’t start beforehand because I love overeating all the chocolate and delicious stuff that comes with Christmas, but having put on a pair jeans the other day that fitted perfectly when I bought them, I could barely breathe they were so tight and I looked shocking in them even with a long baggy jumper hiding the horrible flab/ muffin top.
I'm hoping so much that this is finally going to help me after years and years of forking out for Weight Watchers or Slimming World and counting their points or syns

Wowzel · 01/01/2025 19:41

I have also had a syringe in the fridge for 3 weeks and have been quite nervous to start.

Thinking of starting tonight or tomorrow morning.

I need to lose 13 ish kg (29 pounds) to get back to normal bmi

IdentityCrisis101 · 01/01/2025 19:44

I started today, had the first injection this morning and have to say I feel it's worked more or less straight away. I had breakfast this morning and have had 3 spoonfuls of some noodles this evening and I am definitely not hungry!

keeponplodding7 · 01/01/2025 19:46

This is such a weird question and I can't really think you'd have the answer but..... I have read ALOT of comments about the awful eggy/sulphur burps. I cannot burp, never been able to and I'm wondering, where will the burps go? Will I just feel really sick and have a bad chest? I'm panicking a bit about this.

OP posts:
JustPassingByToo · 01/01/2025 21:43

@Shmee1988 Not everyone has the eggy burps even if they start burping a bit more, so you probably wouldn't or you'll suddenly be able to burp on Mounjaro but it wouldn't necessarily be the eggy kind either.

Also, what you eat can determine if you'll have the eggy/sulphur burps or how intense/often because it's from food fermenting and taking longer to digest. Certain foods are high in sulphur or if you're lactose intolerant, for example.

@FatGirlDosing Ah ok, good to know for sure.

MrsJoker · 01/01/2025 22:05

I am another one with the syringe in the fridge for the last two weeks. I’m starting on Friday night I think. I’m quite apprehensive but mainly because I’m afraid it won’t work. I have struggled for so many years but I’m 17st 8lb and my mum died at my age (53)- if I don’t lose my weight it going to impact my health and potentially limit my life. Good luck to us all

stolis1 · 01/01/2025 22:16

Did you get this prescribed by a GP or buy online? I'm desperate to start but nervous. Not sure if I should get it prescribed or just. It online?

Hi Stolis, I went online, there’s a questionnaire and you have to post pics of your weight on the scale and side/front views of your body. The online docs prescribe it and post it to you. I believe they contact your GP as well. Very quick process though

FrocksAndFrills · 01/01/2025 22:47

Hi. I started Mounjaro on the 19th December, so just about completed 2 weeks. - 3rd jab tomorrow. I can’t believe how good it has been as when I used Saxenda I was sooooo ill. Have had a little nausea but no other side effects. 4 days post jab I can feel my hunger returning but not as much as before. I started at 222 pounds and have lost 6pounds.

Will keep following this thread for inspiration and support! Good luck all. Xxx

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 01/01/2025 22:58

I started on the 6th Dec and am 18lb down already, I enjoyed Christmas including the food, but smaller portions. 5th jab is tomorrow.

Yes there are some burps, particularly if you eat more than optimum, but on small portions it's ok. No other symptoms really, 1 day felt like id done sit ups.

It's like the food noise is switched off, you can feel hungry and not feel the urgent need to eat. Food still tastes good and is enjoyable.

A little bit of constipation if you don't keep your fluids up.

But it feels great. I am comfortably in the next size down, and even accidentally wore 2 sizes smaller in one set of trousers where I have duplicates in multiple sizes. I am very optimistic of reaching my target on size 12's

Shop around for good prices, and note that some suppliers like Medexpress do price match. There is a chat with discount codes to get £40 off your first order, do look for these, they do work and both you and the person who's code it is get £40 benefit

Good luck January's

Sebsaloysius · 02/01/2025 11:28

I've just started a new thread entitled Mounjaro / Tirzapetide January starters if anyone would like to hop over on there. I've just started my first dose this morning (there's a medical back story which I can detail later if the thread has interest).

Wow 18lbs that's amazing. And fab news about the jeans. I hope I have such luck 😀 .
I guess it'll take much longer the less you have to lose. I'm 12st6 and want to lose 2st over 4 months. Im just not sure it's doable .....

OP posts:
HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 02/01/2025 14:39

That sounds doable @Shmee1988

I started at 14 stone 3.8 and I want to be around 11 stone / comfortable size 12

I've lost nearly 9% body weight in less than 5 weeks, including Christmas

I'm still on 2.5 and have opted not to go up straight away as the losses are still going ok.

Good luck 😊
