Evening! I’ve joined the forum just to participate in this thread, which I’ve been following from the start! Thank you for the reassurance of your experiences so far.

I joined up, did my blood test on Wednesday and have been anxiously waiting for my results since. The app hasn’t updated, but I know I have to be more patient having read your posts. Thanks again.

I have some questions for SheMed but haven’t been able to speak with anyone so far - like what they intend to do with our data, whether they plan to cycle the two drugs to prevent resistance and what they expect to happen in a year at the end of the study - I think it will just go to full price 😬

looking forward to hearing how it goes over the next few weeks and months.

Hi, I'm new here, I've just signed up and excited to start my journey, really hope.it works. I am 41, 4ft 11 and just over 13 stones.
I recently underwent a total hysterectomy and as a result am now going through menopause, I have read that menopause can cause increased weight gain so hopefully will nip it in the bud.

Kebabo · 13/01/2025 05:20

Welcome. There are a few of us just waiting to get started. Good luck.

My blood test is being delivered today! Also getting over a very nasty bout of norovirus, so hoping there's a decent delay between the blood test and starting the first injection, as I'm still suffering from diarrhoea and a bit nervous about taking anything which lists that as a possible side effect whilst I'm still feeling very delicate!

Hi there,
I am wanting to join! I am at the payment page and have reservations but so desperately want to do it. My concerns are, what if they don't actually give me Mounjaro and suggest other injections or make me increase doses when I want to stay on one lower? Anyone able to answer this? The price seems too good to be true but would like more control so maybe this isn't the way? Any recommendations I would love to hear.

This is the reason to avoid a company selling unnecessary bloods and tying you in for a year.....

Yes, you pay for unnecessary bloods and you're tied in to a 6 or 12m contract. Lots more flexible out there.

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 16:16

@Reginaphalangeeeee they can't make you do anything. They can offer you things and you can decline. If they don't accept you on their programme after the blood test I believe they will refund the blood test cost and you don't have to continue with them.

The price is only a small amount lower than the starting prices for other providers. What the benefit seems to be is that price doesn't increase over the year. The higher doses can get more expensive with other providers, and knowing that you will only be paying £99 per month all the way through can help with budgeting. Plus it means you don't have to change providers to get new customer discounts, so it saves a bit of admin and a small amount of bother whilst you wait for a new provider to approve you.

Regarding doses, they probably will suggest the standard dosing schedule, you'd need to read their T's and Cs to see what their policy is for changing that. You could contact them via their social media and ask about that too before signing up. I'd suggest getting information directly from them if you have questions.

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 16:20

@Tubetrain the 6 and 12 month blood tests are described as complimentary on their website. It's the first one that you pay for, and is refunded if they exclude you from the programme.

After a year you could just move over to one of the maintenance options pharmacies eg. cloud, oushk which have money off for those people long term, perhaps.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 13/01/2025 16:29

Thank you all. Yes I have contacted Shemed directly to ask questions and for now just signed up/paid for blood test.

Once you make the decision you are going to do it, its such an emotional journey I just want to get started. The 'weigh in' has been the slap in the face i need but want to step into action now.

Just looking for anyone who has begun with them already

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 16:32

@Reginaphalangeeeee there's a whole thread of people here:

Shemed Starters - Support thread. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight-loss-injections/5243302-shemed-starters-support-thread

They've all started in Jan, some are still waiting for blood tests, results or the first pen. They all have direct experience of using Shemed.

Nothing is free, you're paying for it one way or another.

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 17:49

@Tubetrain I said complimentary, as in, included in the monthly fee. No additional charge. Unless you're saying that you have been charged for those blood tests already?

no, I'm not with them - was just saying that I see no reason to go with a company that ties you in for a long period of time, when the bloods add nothing to your treatment decisions and there are so many around which don't tie you in.

SilenceInside · 13/01/2025 18:02

It's personal choice isn't it. Some people find the idea of a consistent price, lots of interaction with a HCP and things like blood tests to be something they'd like. Lots of people don't. It's all fine either way. As long as people understand what's on offer and what they're signing up to.

Kebabo · 14/01/2025 02:24

At 2am this morning my phone pinged to say my blood test results are in and under review. A few red markers, such as I have high cholesterol but nothing I wasn't expecting. Hopefully I'm one step closer to my pen for the weekend.

Yes, I just feel sad for people being conned. These tests don't change your management in any way .

the way I understood it was it wasn’t just about management, it’s a clinical study so they’re looking at how Mounjaro and weight loss can help things like prediabetes, cholesterol levels and liver function etc…

Kebabo · 14/01/2025 12:42

Just had a notification that I have been prescribed Mounjaro. Excited and scared!
Anyone else about to get their first pen?
