I think I just had my first sulphur burp 😑it stank it was like an oral fart. I had an egg sandwich for lunch. I'm never eating eggs again.

Oral fart 😂🤮

Happy New Year everyone! It seems like everyone’s done really well over Christmas and NY - no big gains and even losses!

I skipped a week of MJ over Christmas so I could eat and drink with everyone and I managed to be sensible and to be honest didn’t really want any rich food. But I have experienced the most awful ‘food noise’. Constantly thinking about what I can eat whilst telling myself ‘you’re not even hungry!’ - it’s so frustrating. I’m now extremely worried this is how my internal voice will sound when I stop MJ, the peace it affords me is almost better than the weight loss.

Keep going 💪

@PinkArt congrats on hitting that milestone.

I took 18months off of injections after losing the first 30kg and only gained 2kg back in that time. I was going through a bereavement which would have affected my behaviour but I clearly didn't eat my feelings for once. So I'll remain optimistic about keeping it off.

Sorry to read about your loss. Most of my weight gain was as a result of caring for elderly parents and then their passing so you did well to only regain 2kgs 💐

I have accepted that it’s unrealistic to expect to just be a different person without these drugs. The reality is almost all put weight back on after stopping & I don’t know what would make me the exception amongst so many motivated people spending a fortune on trying this. The change that I am trying to make permanent is linking my weight to my own worth - I won’t be a failure if I require long term medication or have difficulties sustaining.

I think self-neglect is a common factor among a lot of us here. Putting your own worth as a priority brings more joy to other parts of life I think. It certainly helps not send me over the edge about everything else that might not be going well and I reflect a lot more on things that are good.

As an example, Today I received an email that would usually mean I obsessed over the content/reply and it was designed to bring a knee-jerk reaction out of me. Previously, I’d have replied in a reactive way and let it dominate the rest of the day to the exclusion of everything else -including exercise. And I would’ve sunk 3 glasses of wine in front of the telly ignoring the family whilst still being annoyed. Instead, today I didn’t reply, prioritised 45mins of Pilates and made the decision that a considered response could wait until tomorrow. And I had water in front of the telly and watched the Traitors with DD. 💪

I refuse to let myself go back to how I used to be.

I need to go back to just weighing weekly, as it's better for my head, but as today is two months in I thought I'd do one last midweek. And I've hit my first GW!

W9D5
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:17st 13lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 1st 10lb

Next goal is 15st 4lbs which, if I'm remembering correctly, was my starting weight when I lost about 4 stones a decade ago. It feels quite a way off still, but achievable this time around.

🥳 so happy for you! Fab losses!

TeenLifeMum · 08/01/2025 22:59

@PinkArt that’s fabulous news! Congrats.

I’ve been daily weighing but I’m going to see if weekly is possible for my mindset. I’m so all or nothing when dieting but that’s why I fail. With the new puppy it’s impossible to leave her to go and weigh myself in the morning when she’s full of energy. Maybe I can move into a new phase.

i worked out what the sickness was about - start of a migraine triggered by sudden weather change. Not mj related at all, I think. Snow was disappointing but it did fall.

Hi everyone 🖐

I've just rediscovered mumsnet and delighted to find this thread after starting mounjaro in November.

I'm on my second 7 5mg injection and just had an rotten afternoon of side effects yesterday. Thought it was norovirus last week, but a repeat of symptoms this week makes me think it's mounjaro related :-( (sulfur burps and everything else! 🤢)

Have ordered pepto bismal as keeping seeing that mentioned online and going to ask my prescriber if I can go back down to 5mg for a bit.

I'm away for work next week and cannot afford to be stuck in a bathroom for an afternoon!

SW 95kg
CW 87kg
GW 75kg or maybe 70kg depending how I feel at 75kg.

ShaunaSadeki · 09/01/2025 08:55

I’m so happy to read about everyone’s great losses it has boosted me to carry on after holiday setback. I went to 3.75 as had gone so long without jabbing and it feels good to be back although will be better when I go back up to 5. Period coming now and 1.5kg of the 3 has gone.

Regarding stopping at goal, I am following a thread on this board where someone has stopped and after a couple of weeks of intense hunger the poster has got over it with will power and is maintaining. It gives me hope, but I am a classic yo-yo dieter and have lost and regained up to 4 stone a couple of times.

I also want to echo other posts about how lovely and supportive @Mounjaropen is, your posts shine.

Weekly weigh in 1 lb down

This morning, I have experience various emotions, worry, anguish, anger and rage. 😡🤬
Well what did I do to make me feel better…..EAT CHOCOLATE!
Do I feel better…… NO!

Rant over, it’s only 9.20 in the morning so hopefully the day and my mood will improve. If I do not check in again, it means I have been arrested for murder and I am being held on remand.

MsRumpole · 09/01/2025 09:35

Weighed in. I'm 1.7lb down from last week, to 22 stone 9.2 lb. I'm pretty pleased with that as I have not been keeping an eye on intake at all this week!

SW 90

week 8 loss 0.6 total loss 10.7

Am frustrated as I put on 0.5kg overnight but am starting my period so blaming that!

Am having my bonus dose of 5mg today, am going to stay on 5 as I have done 3.75, 4, 4, and 5 from this pen.

i am now living in fear of sulphur burps-not yet experienced them. And I feel for everyone who has them.

Well done to everyone for their losses, I know Christmas was tough but at least we started in November, my SW would have been much higher if I didn’t have some suppression/motivation over Christmas!

x

Della82 · 09/01/2025 09:45

@lovealongbath hope you’re ok! 1lb is still a loss -hope this didn’t trigger the rage!

your comment made me laugh.

No , it was a family member that fuelled the rage.

I am slightly disappointed at only a 1lb loss as I have been very disciplined but weight works in a mysterious way.

I think setbacks are to be expected. Not throwing the towel in completely is our new challenge! The body is a devious being - deep down we know we don't 'need' what it craves because it almost always wants the shite, not Kale 😂

I may be joining you in jail if my toxic grabby sibling doesn't just fuck the fuck off. I'm going to take my rage out on the treadmill and watch an episode of 'Departure' which is my new walking watch until the new series of the Kardashians starts on Disney+. I'm fine with being judged on my watch choices 😂

We can be jail birds together and share a cell 🤣

And coincidentally, it is my toxic grabby sibling that has fuelled me with rage.

StarShapedWindow · 09/01/2025 10:23

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar I think you’re right - sitting about at Christmas amongst loads of chocolate etc probably made me think about food more than I normally would. Fingers crossed!

I’ve just given up my gym membership- I’ve been paying monthly for a few years and I think I’ve been about five times. Instead I am going to join a pilates group.

To those of you struggling with toxic people in your lives I send you calming positive vibes. Just before Christmas we finished a legal battle with a person so unpleasant it was almost funny. I didn’t know such unpleasant people existed but found it best to ignore as much as I could and @Mounjaropen you are absolutely right- never respond before giving it an hour - you’ll always be glad you waited for your blood to stop boiling!

Keep going, I refuse to be riled (also, no Cadbury's in the house 😂)

Thank you for the vibes. They walk amongst us sadly.

I'd highly recommend the 'Pvolve' pilates-based system if you don't want to physically join a class. I have found it utterly transformative and I have never liked Pilates 😂. App and live classes (I'm an app kinda girl) but it has been the only thing I have consistently stuck with. They offer non-equipment classes as well as the proprietary equipment that they sell too. Classes range from 15/20 mins upwards so easy to find into the day and you don't need a ton of space. The firm is a bit like Peloton for Pilates - US based but a firm called 'Healf' in the UK also supplies to the UK without the faff of import duties. I bought the whole 'transformation' bundle (I'm the original all the gear, no idea woman) which included the subscription for 12 months which is around £15pcm (VFM when you consider the cost of one pilates class these days)I find the instructions clear and at a pace I can keep up with - unlike online yoga when I spend all of my time craning at the screen muttering WTF. The equipment can be substituted for cheap ankle weights, inexpensive resistance bands etc - you don't really need all of the branded stuff. It's not for you if you don't like enthusiastic Americans either but they are a mix of sizes - not just the beautiful people (although they are lovely looking in the main)

Not gonna lie, Jennifer Anniston extolling its virtues on Insta was massively influential in my decision to look at it (she posts videos of her working out with her dog who looks at her lovingly throughout whereas mine just wants to know when he's being fed and why as an aside Mummy why are you upside down on the floor?)

My tennis coach has been impressed with my increase functional mobility since using it. Worth a gander if you have 5 mins (I'm not sponsored by them by the way - I think they would faint if Giant Barbie entered their studios 😆)

Interesting @Mounjaropen - in my last massive fitness binge I got into reformer Pilates, which I loved but was very expensive to keep up. The Pvolve app looks like it's floor Pilates with equipment (bands, weights)?
