One of the evil bugs over Christmas has been a vommy one. Try BRATY when you attempt food again?
B banana
R rice
A applesauce
T toast
Y yoghurt

Yes, I’m thinking banana and toast …. Can’t face anything yet though

It's hard isn't it? I kept having to remind myself that I weigh what I weigh, objectively, so it doesn't change anything to know the number, but it is still hard!

I weighed myself! Thankfully it wasn’t as scary as I imagined. Lost 1lb over 3 weeks with Christmas and eating things I previously steered clear of, so I’ll take that!

Back to the usual routine now. The scary thing is I’ve upped the dose and still want chocolate, I had 6 pieces at work yesterday! But hopefully it’s just the Christmas sweet eating hangover and my body returns to desiring lettuce, lean chicken and pomegranate again 😇

Cantbesure · 08/01/2025 12:16

There are a few other posts now of people that have more or less kept the weight off too @fubard

It will require work though. And it's definitely panicked me a bit having the hunger return after Christmas. I can't afford to be on MJ long term and my dreams of being responsive to v low doses have expired!

Glad the post Christmas weigh in went well @LindtCurves

i'm struggling with the nausea on 5mg so haven't moved up to 7.5. i stayed the same over christmas give or take about 500g.
SW 89kg
CW 80kg
GW 70kg

what i have realised over christmas is that i still don't make 'good' choices. i have eaten less but still had creamy cheeses, chocolates, pork crackling, too much wine and gin etc etc. It was just the suppression and nausea that stopped me pigging out completely.

i want to focus now on the quality of the food i'm eating so it becomes a habit to make better choices or i'll just fall back into my old ways.

question about neutracheck - i realised i logged my starting weight incorrectly so all my stats are out. i've tried to add it retrospectively and it says it's logged it but not showing on the stats at all.

any ideas how i can alter it?

Oh looks like you are my weight loss twin! Are you about 5’ 7?

What kind of healthy foods do you enjoy? Or even, what do you find visually really appealing on a plate?

I’ve found that I can’t really eat ‘not the most nutritionally balanced’ foods shall we say even in moderation. Once I indulge in cream cheese, pastries etc my pallet wants them more.

So I focus on treating myself to healthy foods I genuinely love. Eg yoghurt with a rainbow of fruit and seeds is a treat for me so I have it often. I really love chicken salad so ditto. Use honey as a sauce to sweeten the deal. Proper lovely healthy foods, nothing that looks a bit sad on a plate. Nice healthy brunch with friends on Sundays.

Once I’ve eaten like that for a while, I find that even looking at the chocolate aisle in the supermarket really puts me off, no interest and I dislike the taste.

But I do notice that when I reintroduce the more junky/ treaty foods to be polite, like at Christmas, it becomes very much a slippery slope. I do start wanting them again.

Can you relate?

fubard · 08/01/2025 09:48

@DarkForces Interesting, what's Cloud?

It's a pharmacy. If you look in the weight loss injections topic there's a thread on providers who'll subscribe for maintaining a healthy weight

jay55 · 08/01/2025 14:25

@PinkArt congrats on hitting that milestone.

I took 18months off of injections after losing the first 30kg and only gained 2kg back in that time. I was going through a bereavement which would have affected my behaviour but I clearly didn't eat my feelings for once. So I'll remain optimistic about keeping it off.

Cantbesure · 08/01/2025 14:48

I think that's really interesting @LindtCurves I thought I wanted chocolate yesterday. I've not had any over the holiday at all so had one of the few heroes my son hadn't scoffed. It was sooooo sweet I didn't enjoy it or crave another. Sadly I don't have the same response to cheese!

StarShapedWindow · 08/01/2025 14:50

Happy New Year everyone! It seems like everyone’s done really well over Christmas and NY - no big gains and even losses!

I skipped a week of MJ over Christmas so I could eat and drink with everyone and I managed to be sensible and to be honest didn’t really want any rich food. But I have experienced the most awful ‘food noise’. Constantly thinking about what I can eat whilst telling myself ‘you’re not even hungry!’ - it’s so frustrating. I’m now extremely worried this is how my internal voice will sound when I stop MJ, the peace it affords me is almost better than the weight loss.

AlwaysTimeForWine · 08/01/2025 15:03

I've been on 2.5mg for 6 weeks and then went up to 3mg for the last 2 weeks, starting on Sat 28th Dec

I'm trying to increase slowly so that I minimise any extra side effects.

I definitely ate more over Xmas and my weight has trickled slowly down by only 1lb a week for the last few weeks.

Yesterday and today I have definitely been more hungry, despite the slightly higher dose. I've still managed to make great food choices but the amount I can eat has massively increased. I ate quite a big dinner last night of orzo and meatballs and didn't feel massively overfull.

I just polished off a huge salad at lunchtime with mixed beans, corn, chicken, avocado and egg. With a small slice of baguette and ham on the side. Followed by melon.

It wasn't until I had finished that I realised it was a very big plate of food and I hadn't felt the same early fullness as previous weeks.

Calorie wise it wouldn't have been super high but it was the volume that I was surprised by. Has anyone else experienced this as they've gone on?

I think I definitely need to increase my dose by a chunk more this week to get some of that full feeling back again.

My aim is to get up to 5mg but I'm happy to go slow and steady and not do big jumps.

I had hoped to stay on small doses but unfortunately 5 just wasn’t cutting it anymore & I’ve moved to 7.5. Now on my third week & that’s starting to wane too. I think it’s just how the body gets used to it.

Christmas is a particularly hard week for food noise, though. I do wonder whether a) the temptations would be less in a normal week and b) whether after an initial rebound of food noise after coming off MJ, whether it would gradually settle again over time? Very unscientific wishful thinking, perhaps!

Hi everyone a wee question to ask I'm currently on 7.5 can you stay in stay for a few months if it's working for you I'm not sure if thats right as I read something about having to use certain pens for maintenance ?

7.5 isn’t an official maintenance dose but GPs don’t have to stick to that they can continue to prescribe if they choose to & most will given it’s a dose you’re already on

murraymcgill · 08/01/2025 18:42

@PandasMum hi I buy mine that's why I'm asking I'm not sure what to buy next I've had a good week on 7.5 and would be ordering soon

Yes it shouldn’t be an issue

Hi all, quick question from a friend who is not obese but overweight and considering MJ.. does anyone on here smoke? Has it lessened your craving to light up?. She’d like to kill 2 birds with one stone. I said I’d ask the friends in my phone 🥰

I don’t but have read a couple of posts that people have now given up with it.

My 7.5 pen is arriving today. Not sure whether to bonus dose the last of my 5mg pen. My stomach has finally settled - think I had a bug/food poisoning rather than it being MJ side effects. I’m back to bouncing up and down the same pound or two again which is frustrating. I wish I could just be a steady loser!

Glad to hear the bug has gone. Here’s to a whoosh soon!

Well done!

I don’t want to be reliant, but the reality is, I probably will be 😩

Someone has posted a tread about stopping 3 months ago and she has gained 2 stone . It’s so easy to put back on!

I think this is why this thread is so useful. We’re all sharing tips to add in better food choices/exercise/motivation. It’s hard, it’s winter and we’re all a bit skint following Xmas but we are also investing in ourselves. I genuinely think if we have a genuine mindset change, the weight will stay off. I don’t NEED wine, in reality I’m drinking it because I’m bored/tired/stressed - fact is, I feel less likely to exercise the next day if I drink it and I like how I feel these days post exercise more than I like the taste of Rose. This has been huge for me.

I think I just had my first sulphur burp 😑it stank it was like an oral fart. I had an egg sandwich for lunch. I'm never eating eggs again.

random223 · 08/01/2025 20:22

Like the friends in my phone! Sorry I don't smoke but have heard they are considering MJ for addictive behaviours in general.

I just wanted to mention the ratatouille I have had for my supper this week - very filling and warm in this winter weather.

murraymcgill · 08/01/2025 20:30

@PandasMum thank you the price is killing me GP said I wasn't fat enough to be prescribed even though I was obese and beed it for surgery

jaromoun · 08/01/2025 20:55

@lindtcurves

yes 5'7".

i am much better at resisting the tasty but ultimately unhealthy foods than i was but i know without MJ i don't have any will power yet as i haven't embedded the 'good' habits i need.
but onwards and upwards (or downwards should i say!)

PandasMum · 08/01/2025 21:27

I have accepted that it’s unrealistic to expect to just be a different person without these drugs. The reality is almost all put weight back on after stopping & I don’t know what would make me the exception amongst so many motivated people spending a fortune on trying this. The change that I am trying to make permanent is linking my weight to my own worth - I won’t be a failure if I require long term medication or have difficulties sustaining.

I get them with no links to eggs just the injections - absolutely vile but usually settle after a day or so
