Happy New Year all! Hope you all had a good Christmas & New Year?

I've blinked and missed 2 threads!!

W7 D5
SW: 16 stone 2lb
CW: 15 stone bang on
GW: 14 stone 7 ish (maybe a nice round 90kg)

Had a good Christmas, as I take my jab on a Thursday Xmas day wasn't ruined as I was right at the end of the suppression and managed canapes, main and even a pudding. I didn't feel the need to have a 2nd plateful which is a first!

I managed to maintain 15st 1lb over the Xmas & NYE break with another 1lb lost last week so really happy with that.

Got to the gym 5 times even managing Boxing Day.

That’s impressive! 💪 congratulations!

It's been a few weeks since I checked in! Thanks for starting the new thread @Mounjaropen .

My weight loss stalled over Xmas, gained a kilo but I've thankfully lost it again. Just ordered my fourth pen (going to stay on 5mg as it's still working). Suppression isn't as great as it was weeks ago, but I'm ok with that. Happy to lose the last bit of weight slower.

I'm on week 11 and have lost 12.5kg, 5kg left to go to goal weight! Really need to get back into the gym, haven't been in 3 or 4 weeks but I'm just not in the mood for it. I am looking noticeably slimmer, some people have commented on it. But I'm not feeling anywhere near as toned as I would like.

Pumpkinforever · 07/01/2025 11:47

I did Thai prawn green curry last night but chucked in three handfuls of baby spinach a bunch of chopped spring onions.

I have an almost daily walk to top up on veg 😂

DH said his belt has gone in a notch! So that’s another MJ saving. Two people losing weight for the price of one pen !

Mounjaropen · 07/01/2025 13:12

jaromoun · 07/01/2025 09:26

i'm struggling with the nausea on 5mg so haven't moved up to 7.5. i stayed the same over christmas give or take about 500g.
SW 89kg
CW 80kg
GW 70kg

what i have realised over christmas is that i still don't make 'good' choices. i have eaten less but still had creamy cheeses, chocolates, pork crackling, too much wine and gin etc etc. It was just the suppression and nausea that stopped me pigging out completely.

i want to focus now on the quality of the food i'm eating so it becomes a habit to make better choices or i'll just fall back into my old ways.

question about neutracheck - i realised i logged my starting weight incorrectly so all my stats are out. i've tried to add it retrospectively and it says it's logged it but not showing on the stats at all.

any ideas how i can alter it?

A great step recognising what foods are your triggers. Keep going! 💪

Is any one finding jt harder after Christmas? I'm noticeably more hungry with more food noise. Maybe because I took my eye off the ball a bit over the holiday period. I did increase my dose from 2.5 to 3.75 on Friday and my kg I put on has gone. Although my brain keeps telling me that's not a loss as I'd put it on over the hols.

I'm definitely having to be more mindful and actively restrict myself.

I was hoping to be able to stay on a very low dose, especially as I found the suppression really strong at the beginning. But I will move up to 5 on Friday. It is making me slightly anxious about coming off MJ and the return of food noise.

I do appreciate that losing weight, even on MJ, isn't easy and we have to do the work. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar change since Christmas?

PinkArt · 07/01/2025 16:49

I'm finding it easier post Christmas but I think it's because I feel more comfortable being back in control of what I'm eating again. I was surprised when staying at my sister's that I was still happy to graze on Quality Street and biscuits, when I've not been interested in much sweet stuff at all at home.

LilyRose88 · 07/01/2025 18:54

I'm going away for a few days at the end of January in the UK and the days coincide with when I should be doing my jab. Can anyone recommend a carry pouch (maybe with freezer blocks to keep the pen cold)? I won't have access to a fridge unfortunately.

In addition I'm going overseas at the end of February for 10 days and will definitely need something to transport my pen and needles. I'll keep it in my hand luggage but again will have no access to a fridge while I'm away. I always keep my pens in the fridge at home.

Thanks.

I saw a recommendation for Frio wallets on here (normally used for insulin) and ordered one from Amazon. You wet it and it keeps coolish. Not actually tried it yet (bought for this week whilst I’m away from home but decided to leave the pen at home in the end).

Della82 · 07/01/2025 19:31

@LilyRose88 I bought a case from oushk it didn’t come with cool packs so i bought some mini ones off amazon

Just checking in. Do people drink 3 litres of water a day? How do you manage it? Does it help?

Pumpkinforever · 07/01/2025 21:04

@LilyRose88 I will be using a Frio when I am off next week touring about some warm.

Once pens are in use they don’t need to be kept in the fridge is my understanding. But I decided to buy a Frio insulin case. The wallet just needs to reactivated by dunking it in water every 45 hours.

No, but I do usually manage about 3 pints of water, which is 1.7 litres. Hopefully when the weather warms up I can drink more, but right now it’s too cold. I usually have about 4/5 big cups of tea with milk too.

Yes
I start the day with 2-3 pints of water (I just down them) so it's easy to fit the rest in.
Help with what? I've done this for a long time & I feel grotty if I can't start the day with lots of water. The one time on MJ that I didn't do my usual morning water is also the only time I've experienced the dreaded sulphur burps so that's plenty of motivation for me!

I drink probably 8 x 500ml bottles per day of water plus 4 mugs of black coffee/fruit tea per day at this time of the year. I find 500ml size bottles easy to take with me. Benefits are definitely skin hydration and reduced food intake (quite often it isn’t hunger pangs but dehydration your body is signalling). This is in stark contrast to my water intake in my 20’s/30’s - which was poor.

I do appreciate that losing weight, even on MJ, isn't easy and we have to do the work. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar change since Christmas?

I think it’s normal to struggle to return to pre-Xmas eating quickly. I’m having one or two fancy Xmas chocolates with a coffee after my main meal. This is unheard of pre MJ when a) in Jan there would be none left and b) I could quite easily have eaten one layer of a box with a coffee. I’m enjoying the ‘treat’ aspect of this little ritual but equally I could easily go without. Portion control is something I’m now very aware of. Sadly DH is not on board/capable of this so I have taken to stashing the chocs away so that he can’t eat them all mindlessly. He’s had health issues in the past 12 months and needs to lose weight but he’s in denial about how many calories he actually consumes - especially in the evenings. Yes he exercises, but an hour on the treadmill in reality gives you a deficit worth 1 x mars bar. Not 1 x mars bar, a mince pie/cake plus something else on top of three meals a day. I’m trying not to wear my judgy pants but I can see how we’ve both ended up obese because neither of us have exercised portion control. I’m functioning well on a significant food (and wine!) intake reduction versus this time last year so I know my previous eating pattern was both psychological rather than physiological. We’re also both competitive so if I do end up losing 4 stone by the end of April (my realistic goal) and he doesn’t (and he won’t with his current eating pattern) he might decide to start MJ. We’ll see.

Worth also remembering that the calorie intake for a ‘serving’ on a box of celebrations/WS/Roses/heroes is 3-4 chocs. Not one of each type in the tin (my favoured portion size previously!) I thought people who could just make do with 3 or 4 sweets were some sort of control freaks/ psychopaths. I’m happy to report I’m neither, but successfully managing to exist on such ‘meagre’ pickings😂

Is anyone else having insomnia with Mounjaro?

I had vivid dreams, which has now turned into insomnia!

I’ve started having broken sleep and more awake periods, and also some very vivid dreams this week!

N27 · 08/01/2025 06:56

Exciting update for me…. I managed to get my wedding and engagement rings off!!! Taking them to be cleaned today because it has been YEARS since I’ve been able to get them off my porky fingers!

Exercise routine is back in place now kids are back at school and I must say I feel much better for it!

todays foods will be:

B Porridge
L Mushroom Soup
D Roast Chicken with plenty of veg

1.6 lb away from the next stone bracket so that’s the target by Monday

I'm also struggling after Christmas. I've gone up to 7.5mg and I'm getting side effects with less suppression. I'm quite happy to graze on leftover Christmas treats whereas I just wasn't interested before. At the same time I'm getting constipation and insomnia. So much fun!

Fingers crossed 10mg is better! I don't have too much more to lose and I could really do without the expense!

evilharpy · 08/01/2025 08:13

Help please! Can I get 5ml doses out of a 7.5ml pen? I've ordered 7.5 (being deliered today) but the side effects have been awful this week and last and I think I need to stay on the lower dose for another month. But Medexpress won't let me reorder till the 17th.

If I spoke to them would they let me reorder sooner?

I’d call them and ask but be prepared for them to say no on safety grounds. Could you try the cheaper provider Oushk mentioned on here instead?
