Cheating at weight loss - fighting talk

At a party last night, my friend was being complimented loads on her fabulous weight loss. Her --vile-- husband was drunk and is a bit jealous and decided to out her Mounjaro use publicly and said "Yeah well she is cheating by using those weight loss jabs" After a very awkward pause she said "oh fuck off, you cheat at getting it up by using viagra" I think both of them were a bit out of order for outing each other, but it did start people off talking about other meds and the whole 'cheating' thing and one person was talking about it in supportive terms - you wouldn't accuse someone of cheating pregnancy by taking the pill / getting the snip. Has anyone got any less confrontational comebacks for the 'cheating at weight loss' accusations?

Oh, if anyone actually said it to me I'd probably just respond with "cheating who out of what?" Makes people think about exactly what they're saying and how nonsensical it is.

For less confrontational, I think “cheating who, exactly?” Be calm and totally confused. “Sorry, I don’t understand how it’s cheating, could you explain it to me?”

Husband looks like a twat. Wife looks amazing (both for her comeback and her weight loss I bet!). So, job done.

However not sure how much outing would be involved - surely anyone losing weight rapidly is assumed to be using jabs? Why the shame/secrecy? Makes it worse for everyone!

Why? Because sex is a reward/gift women give men when they're happy and withhold as punishment to them when unhappy? I can't stand this mentality - it's as if that's all women have to bargain with. Just talk it out/work it out and carry on with life instead of acting like sex is a treat being taken away for bad behaviour.

OP, I'm not sure I'd be sharing my friends personal story here on mumsnet anyway - it's too specific to not be known and I doubt she'd be happy to read this if she's here. That said, her comeback was pretty spot on. Comparing like for like is the only way to get people to see how stupid they look when they say wli is cheating. Asking them "who or what" won't usually make it click as they'll still try to form an argument.

Look, it doesn’t matter how the weight comes off, but people are praising your friend because they assume she is doing heaps of unpleasant stuff like eating lettuce, doing sunrise yoga and maybe mountain climbing.

No simply because I would be so pissed off with dh I wouldn't be wanting him near me intimately or otherwise.

I would be pissed off because he thinks I am "cheating" and obviously doesn't respect the challenges I have faced, pissed off because he would have known I wasn't sharing the information and pissed off he decided to use it against me.

Not how I read it at all. More because he sounds like a colossal twat that she wouldn't want to have sex with him.
I don't see using Mounjaro as cheating any more than wearing my contacts or taking the pill is. They're all (just about with the contacts) non essential but massively life improving medical aids.

But, otherwise yes, the faux-confusion route is best ... "sorry, say that again ... ?"
If we're going to be serious there's a whole host of health / medical / wellbeing conditions that are medicated that weren't 20 / 30 / 50 years ago .... are they all "cheating". Its an easy dig, and some folk will always go for that.

Tell me you know little about GLP1s without telling me...

You do have to modify your lifestyle, by eating more whole foods and doing exercise on GLP1s, that is why they work. The GLP1s are a tool to help you do that.

Slightly sad but not unexpected update to this - friend and husband are going their separate ways. She is very positive and relieved to be parting ways.

Can't say I am sad as it was a toxic relationship, although I am sad for her that she is going through all this upheaval.

To be honest I didn't think there was a chance in hell of the relationship lasting after she said that. And I know what he said was wrong but she shouldn't have said what she did, in public at any rate.
