Cheating at weight loss - fighting talk

At a party last night, my friend was being complimented loads on her fabulous weight loss.

Her vile husband was drunk and is a bit jealous and decided to out her Mounjaro use publicly and said "Yeah well she is cheating by using those weight loss jabs"

After a very awkward pause she said "oh fuck off, you cheat at getting it up by using viagra"

I think both of them were a bit out of order for outing each other, but it did start people off talking about other meds and the whole 'cheating' thing and one person was talking about it in supportive terms - you wouldn't accuse someone of cheating pregnancy by taking the pill / getting the snip.

Has anyone got any less confrontational comebacks for the 'cheating at weight loss' accusations?

Husband looks like a twat. Wife looks amazing (both for her comeback and her weight loss I bet!). So, job done.

However not sure how much outing would be involved - surely anyone losing weight rapidly is assumed to be using jabs? Why the shame/secrecy? Makes it worse for everyone!

I don't understand this post. Why would you lose weight any quicker?

To be honest I didn't think there was a chance in hell of the relationship lasting after she said that. And I know what he said was wrong but she shouldn't have said what she did, in public at any rate.

I doubt that little spat much to do with their break up in itself. It was probably a symptom of wider issues in their marriage though and that little exchange maybe just served as a final straw.

I can’t imagine me or my partner speaking to each other like that especially not in public. Their relationship was most likely on its last legs as that exchange would indicate they have a fair bit of contempt and dislike for each other.

Sad for your friend but sounds like the right thing for her to do if he cannot be supportive. Brilliant comeback!

It's not cheating it is a tool to help you. Like people who use vapes or nicotine patches to try and stop smoking. The more people who can give up smoking the less stress on the NHS later down the line and it's the same for people who struggle with weight loss. Especially those who have insulin resistant conditions. I haven't got PCOS because of anything I've done yet it affects my hormones and my insulin so the weight loss injections will be helping that!

Yay- she lost 13/14 stones in one day- now THATs an amazing weight loss!

Seriously though, people praising women for weight loss in any circumstances is part of the huge issue here. Weight is not worth. Losing weight isn’t something to be impressed by or congratulate people for.

Her response was pure magic!

Edited

You are absolutely spot on @Alittlecake there has been trouble brewing for a long time, resulting in the way that they spoke to one another. Both sad and pleased for her at the same time.

No but losing (a lot of) weight is hard, so its nice that people notice and say something nice.

Of course it is, however you do it, if you do it on purpose it takes effort. It’s a hard journey to achieve a goal, usually of being healthy again. Of course we should congratulate that.

I’ve no idea why you’ve conflated it with worth though. Maybe if there is something you, struggle with. That causes your brain to go there, it’s something to get help on.

I don't understand this post. Why would you lose weight any quicker?

It may not be the same for everyone but I've found my weight loss on Mounjaro to be consistent, in that I've so far lost weight every single week since September, including over Christmas. Most of the time I lose at least 1lb, though it has been 0.5lb once I think.

On WeightWatchers and other healthy eating programs, I've been hungrier and so eaten more so often lose just 0.5lb or less per week, even though there were also some weeks when I'd lose more.

So I've lost weight quicker because Mounjaro has helped me to stay on the healthy eating wagon which is what has given me consistent losses week after week, which in turn motivates me to keep going and not binge eat after a poor weigh in result, as I've done in the past on WeightWatchers.
