Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

First injection done. The needle was bent when it came out, so hope I haven’t messed it up. Also my injection site won’t stop bleeding (like a shaving cut), probably because I bent the needle. Did anyone else have this?

Just returned from holiday, so expecting my metabolism to be all over the place anyway, but praying for minimal side effects.

BMI is obese at 28.3 according to NHS BMI calculator as I’m mixed ethnicity. I was shocked, I’ve always been healthy or just in the overweight section, and managed to get into healthy BMI when I hit 40 by taking up strength training, and was just about able to maintain through intermittent fasting. But nothing has worked the last year, and I think this is peri-meno weight gain. Goal would be able to wear all my old clothes again, and then get back into more strength training so I can wean myself off once I hit target weight.

SW - 79.6kg
GW - 63kg

Im day 3 (jabbed fri midday) and woke up today after a mammoth sleep feeling really nauseous. I don’t feel hungry either which is good but I feel so sick. Anyone had similar? I’m sipping tea and plan on lots of water today.

I had nausea, vomiting and diarrhea on day two after taking my first jab, but this seems to have gone now. I've stopped eating eggs and added a little more carbs, so that might be it, who knows at this point. Are you drinking enough water?

Morning all :) I stayed up watching a movie with the kids...and then stayed up even later as I got carried away with my book.

Did a PT sesh yesterday (upper body) and my arms now ACHE!! PT man has given me some great exercises that I can do at home. So win win there. I think I will do treadmill jog/run today.

I did the TDEE calculator thing just now and it says my maintenance is 1941cals! For losing weight, 1441, but that seems quite high. I will just eat sensibly and watch portions, logging food as I go along. I did have a couple of snacks last night (when watching the movie).

food yesterday was:
-rice pud (I'm using it up) with a handful of All Bran (it tastes good!) as a late brunch.
-supper was thai beef in a salad.

I went rogue and had a cornetto as pudding...then had 2 snacks while we watched the movie (small bag of reduced fat salt and vinegar crisps and a small bag of butterkist popcorn - these came to just under 200cal total). I did feel a bit nauseous after that. Total cals for the day 1290.

I am going to have to keep a good eye on snacking I think, and look in to why I am having, say, two snacks instead of one, what I'm having, and am I really hungry or do I just fancy it etc etc.

No headache or nausea so far today. I haven't eaten yet, but I'm not hungry.

Hi, my pen is arriving today so really interested in side effects. I’m 50 and peri menopausal. I lost weight last year for birthday but it was bloody hard work and of course have put it all back on and more so giving this a go. Although I always cook from scratch I have a HUGE appetite and can not resist crisps/chocolate/wine! I’ve heard it’s better to start near weekend but keen to take it asap!!! Back to work tomorrow so maybe it’s better to get side effects at home? Thoughts?

Seaitoverthere · 05/01/2025 10:34

@DGonMJ juat asked DH who has been T1 since childhood and he says yes the bleeding is probably from the bent needle but just occasionally he does get bleeding like that without a bent needle. Hopefully next one will be smoother.

@Thelittlestranger I’d blame the jab and declare it to be giving you brain fog 😀

@SneakyLilNameChange really sorry you are feeling sick. I think a couple of people have had this and found that it did pass. I watched something my provider did yesterday for people starting and they suggested ginger tea but also have anti sickness tablets you can order so if it continues (and hopefully it won’t ) it might be worth contacting the people you ordered from and ask for some advice. I’ve also seen people using travel sickness tablets.

Thank you Seait for asking your husband for me! I’m normally quite common sense about these things but extra nervous as I’ve never injected myself before.

I have pm you

Seaitoverthere · 05/01/2025 10:45

No worries, it is daunting and to be honest I have wussed out and DH did it but I will do the next one !

thecoffeeowl · 05/01/2025 11:01

My first order has been approved and due for delivery on 7th! I’m so excited but nervous. The injections look like a right twiddly faff. I’m going to keep myself busy today having a good wardrobe sort out which should motivate me to get started.

Does anyone have an outfit or a piece of clothing they would love to fit back into? I think I’d rather use my clothes as a guide, squeezing myself into jeans that only come up to my thighs right now is a proper wake up call!!

Dunkou · 05/01/2025 11:03

Enjoying reading all your updates!

My second jab is today.

First week loss is 1.5 pounds. It's relatively little but I'm pleased, as I have failed to lose even that for the last 5 months.

Side effects:
Vomited first night, had nausea days 1-5
Very little energy, very tired.
Very vivid, almost psychedelic dreams.
Some trapped wind. Burps but not sulphur.
Did not manage to eat enough protein as beige carbs were the main thing I could manage with the nausea.
I did also have a cold/virus for a couple of days so not clear how much was due to that.

Appetite came back on day 5 after really strong suppression.

No constipation or diarrhoea - I eat flaxseeds, berries and nuts anyway so maybe that helped.

For nausea had Rennies and slept with 2 pillows first couple of night. Thinking of getting travel sickness tablets this week.

This week I am going to only take 2mg as I can't have those side-effects this week with work, and I want to mange to eat a healthier diet than so many carbs. I will jab in leg rather than stomach as that maybe gives less side-effects. I may then take the next 2.5mg dose a day or so early if suppression isn't enough.

ElanBridge · 05/01/2025 11:10

@Dunkou before I started I read the November starters, thread, and several comments that injecting in the thigh gave fewer side-effects than in the stomach. Fingers crossed it works for you and you have a more comfortable week ahead.

Thanks! Yes, I've been trawling the other threads for tips, and Reddit has an active forum as well for MJ. I feel a bit more prepared going in this week.

Dunkou · 05/01/2025 11:15

Forgot to add dizziness to my list of side-effects, just saw another thread on it.

If getting woozy I made sure I ate something even if not hungry, had some electrolytes, added a bit of salt to my food (that last one wouldn't be for everyone, I have naturally low blood pressure already so MJ might have lowered it more), drank some more water.

Overthemoun · 05/01/2025 11:20

Today is day 4 and I’m feeling well. Down a few lbs which I’m pleased with, even if it’s water weight. No negative side effects so far.

Changingnameagain · 05/01/2025 11:33

Thelittlestranger · 05/01/2025 08:15

@Changingnameagain I started taking complete biomel daily a week ago after taking my first jab, as I'm prone to not being very regular. I take a spoonful in my morning coffee, and I haven't had any problems - might be worth a shot?

Thank you! Will order this too!

Onthego25 · 05/01/2025 11:40

Did first injection last night and then weighed in first thing this morning. Jeepers. So hope this works!!

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 05/01/2025 11:45

Wk 1, day 7 2kgs down!! Started at 101.7 now on 99.7
No hunger today, been and done boot camp (it took every ounce of will power to get up and go but it's done!)
Just had my brunch of scrambled egg and chicken but couldn't finish it - absolutely unheard of! I don't think I'm eating enough, been tracking calories and have struggled to eat over 1000, I need to find healthy ways of upping my calorie count, just bought some protein yogurts.

Therealmetherealme · 05/01/2025 11:49

@thecoffeeowl no particular items, but I'm really looking forward to being able to wear different clothes, I keep seeing capsule wardrobes on insta and I can't wait to shop and look a bit more put together.

thecoffeeowl · 05/01/2025 12:07

Is anyone going to try for a fifth dose? I’ve read about it here…

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 05/01/2025 12:16

It’s just arrived. I feel so nervous! Not sure if I should inject this evening or not. I also need to properly weigh myself, which I don’t want to do because I can’t face how heavy I am.

JoJothegerbil · 05/01/2025 12:24

I've just uploaded my photos to Zava. That's really brought home how fat I am. In my head I'm a little bit plump, but the photos don't lie and I'm actually proper chunky.

Really hope I get approved now. I have a genetic condition that can increase bowel cancer risk and as the side effects can mimic cancer symptoms some people with the same condition have been refused. My cancer risk is increased by being fat so I really want to have this medication.
