Anyone else missing a dose for Christmas?

I missed a dose for my holidays for a week and l really didn't eat much extra.. but had a couple of lovely meals out and some yummy deserts...but knowing l wouldn't get occupied with food thoughts all the time .. it helped me relax and enjoy my holiday more. I didn't put any weight on.. but l didn't loose any either.
I'm doing the same for Christmas week...
Just a few extra treats.
I've just had my second 12.5.
I've lost three stone in 18 weeks.
4 x 2.5
4 x 5
4 x 7.5
4 x 10.
2 x 12.5

Any side effects?

WeAllHaveWings · 16/12/2024 18:25

I am 25 weeks in and still on a low dose of 3.75mg which gives the right balance of suppression, willpower and few side effects for me, so I am going to inject as normal as being on this dose for so long I mostly know what to expect.

MJ triggers calorie cycling for me, if I don't eat much one day the suppression will be less the next, then it will kick in the following day, I will cut back a bit on Christmas eve so I can hopefully have a little more on Christmas day.

I am hoping Mounjaro is a new way of life for me and that includes enjoying celebration events, including good food, but without the excess.

Justme2023123 · 16/12/2024 18:26

I missed a dose by 4 days recently, not by choice, supplier error. Ended up with the worst diarrhoea for 2 days after I took it late. No way am I missing a dose for Christmas.

Summerhillsquare · 16/12/2024 18:28

Nope. It's not a 'diet' or a holiday from bad habits, it's about making new good habits. Why undermine yourself?

Willowy1982 · 16/12/2024 18:32

My jab day is Christmas day evening and I will jab as normal and just make sure I have a healthy balance of foods during the day and not overeat.

Vegemite123 · 16/12/2024 19:39

I’ll be a day late over Christmas, but that is just because I have a week when I’m not near the fridge where my Mounjaro lives.

Any side effects?

No side effects whatsoever.. from being on it from the beginning.. and even better I've reversed my diabetes.
No diahorrea or constipation.
No burps.. No sickness..nothing at all.
I've adapted my eating..
No fried/ fatty food.
No spicey food... loads of water. .. l don't drink alcohol anyhow.
More chicken/ fish/ eggs and feta cheese.

No, not skipping here, but I will be on day 4 of my jab, so its not terrible suppression wise.

For me, I don’t have any want to miss it? I know thats the MJ but thinking about eating loads of rich food all day just makes me gag 😂. I will eat a small portion of dinner, a few sweet things and some cheese and crackers and that will be enough on the day, most likely.

we usually have take out christmas eve and I will be skipping that and eating super light that day too.

IrisPallida · 16/12/2024 20:25

My jab day is also Christmas evening and I will be injecting as normal.

I have had many special occasion meals and days during my Mounjaro journey so far, and have always managed to enjoy what I was eating without feeling that I would enjoy it more if I ate more. Christmas will be exactly the same, (and I am a bloody good cook!). For me, that is the magic of Mounjaro.

I have to add that I have never raised my doses quickly as I do not consider total appetite suppression to be the aim and goal of this drug. Why would I want that? - Food is delicious and should be enjoyed! So it is my aim to eat well but not feel the mad urge/pressure to overeat. A normal sized Christmas dinner is as good as a huge Christmas dinner. A normal or even a small portion of pudding/cake/chocolate/cheese/whatever will be as nice as a huge one.

Sorry to be preachy, but honestly, why are we still in the mindset that overeating is a special treat or even enjoyable? Why do we still feel that we cannot enjoy ourselves without it involving overeating? This is exactly what I took Mounjaro to cure. That is the mindset that got me where I was when I started. Fat and unable to stop eating too much. What a massive relief it is to be able to eat like a normal person...

Moanranger · 16/12/2024 20:27

@IrisPallida my thoughts exactly!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 16/12/2024 20:46

Nope. What @IrisPallida said basically!

unsync · 16/12/2024 21:03

Same @IrisPallida I liken messing about with dosage to disordered eating. It's a medication, you wouldn't muck about with any other medicines you take because it is Christmas.

Likewise, you don't need to eat everything in sight to excess because it is Christmas. I no longer want to do that. It isn't about the food, it's about enjoying the company of those you are with. MJ has made me look at why I was eating and shift that focus.

poppym12 · 16/12/2024 21:07

No. I'll inject as normal. I don't see the point otherwise. I'm spending a lot of money to help me to lose weight and feel healthier so I'm happy to carry on eating less and thinking about what I eat.

KitsyWitsy · 16/12/2024 21:21

Why would you miss it ? Just so you can stuff your face? Aren’t we trying to stop doing that?

You can still eat anything you want.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/12/2024 22:29

I won't be missing a dose
I intend to still enjoy myself at Christmas but without gorging myself silly like previous years. Going for quality over quantity and intend to spend around £50 at the local cheese deli ( not all for me!)
I probably won't want much chocolate or sweets having completely gone off them, after many years a sugar-aholic that's more than fine by me!

Doggymummar · 16/12/2024 22:33

No, I did that last year and gained ten pound.

Moier · 16/12/2024 22:36

I definitely am not going to overeat at all...
I have changed my diet to eat healthy like l have said.
No fatty/ fried/ spicey food.
Never had any side effects..
But food I've gone without.. l would like to have a little bit.
Deserts and Chocolate.. crackers and cheese..
Because I've not had any.. I'm almost sure l would get side effects. So I've taken my diabetic nurses advice.. just to enjoy a few treats without becoming ill.
Rather take her advice than random people.
I did it on holiday and all was good.
I went on mounjaro for my diabetes ( tried 3 other medications before this and didn't help).. the added bonus was the weight loss.

But it’s not treats. It’s just food.

One of the wonderful things about MJ is the ability to view food as just…. Food. It’s not good or bad. It’s not a treat. It’s not naughty.

It’s just food.

Your diabetic nurse is doing you no favours OP.

GreenGrass28 · 16/12/2024 22:44

I'll be delaying my dose by a couple of days but that's mainly because my main side effect is extreme tiredness the first two days after taking a dose and that will clash with Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and with two young kids full of the excitement of Christmas, I need all the energy I can get! I find my suppression lasts quite well through the week so I don't think it will make too much of a difference hunger wise, but I know it will energy wise.

CautiousLurker01 · 16/12/2024 23:10

Am proceeding as normal, as I’ve hit target and moving onto the maintenance phase (titrating down a dose each month), starting after Christmas.

Have been on this for over a year, lost 6st. I have no intention of ever getting fat again. Xmas is realistically a couple of days. I’ll pick the best bits of the meals and portion control, just as I have to get here and just as I plan to do fpr the rest of my life.

I know that if I chill out, eat what I like, and then find I put nothing on, it will subliminally tell the devil on my shoulder that I could do that for a long weekend, and then a 1-2 week holiday… and then I’ll be gaining weight and be back where I started.

I had my first mince pie yesterday. It was lush. Then a salad for tea. I’ll have another mince pie on Christmas eve and, honestly, I am so totally fine with that because I am wearing size 10 clothes and I can bend over and tie my shoe laces now. Never going back, no matter how many bottles of Baileys I get given at Christmas!!

But you cant just eat what you ate before you started on mounjaro.
You have to stop the fatty/ fried/ spicey/ high sugar foods.
It's not a matter of having a tiny slice of pizza instead of an whole one... you have to eat healthy .. or you would get side effects.

healthybychristmas · 16/12/2024 23:35

No, I do it every nine days anyway but the whole point is that I'm sticking to this. I think it shows a bad attitude to be honest to think I want to stop taking it and eat loads of food. That's how you got in this situation!

I don't want to eat loads of food..l just want a treat like a bit of desert or choc.
I didn't get into any situation. I took it for my diabetes which l don't have anymore...it reversed it... I had to stop going to the gym/ dancing/ walking etc. I'm seriously severely disabled.. as l said in a previous post my ex threw me under a moving bus and left me for dead.

How horrific OP. So sorry you went through that - and yes, if you fancy a few treats, have them (but those mince pies have after effects!)

I’ve found that I often space my jabs out to about 10 days, which might be a better strategy? I just forget to take them as am on a roll with the way I eat now and never seem to feel more than a bit peckish. I, personally have had no side effects from this,(and appreciate others have a different experience) but if your treat days are in the middle of the 10day window, you may find it helps?

This isnt true for everyone. I can eat most of those in reasonable amounts (within my own calorie deficit of course!).
