Anyone else missing a dose for Christmas?

I missed a dose for my holidays for a week and l really didn't eat much extra.. but had a couple of lovely meals out and some yummy deserts...but knowing l wouldn't get occupied with food thoughts all the time .. it helped me relax and enjoy my holiday more. I didn't put any weight on.. but l didn't loose any either.
I'm doing the same for Christmas week...
Just a few extra treats.
I've just had my second 12.5.
I've lost three stone in 18 weeks.
4 x 2.5
4 x 5
4 x 7.5
4 x 10.
2 x 12.5

I think there's a bit of projection here all around. As others have said I'm staying on mine because I don't want to binge over Xmas. However I've has no issues eating nice things just in much smaller quantities. My biggest issue has been volume and sugar - I don't want sugar and if I eat a lot it's uncomfortable, but fried and spicy have been fine. I'm a bit concerned about drinking alcohol and putting pressure on the pancreas, but for me the help of this drug has been moderation not abstinence. I think people should do what works for them

But you cant just eat what you ate before you started on mounjaro.
You have to stop the fatty/ fried/ spicey/ high sugar foods.
It's not a matter of having a tiny slice of pizza instead of an whole one... you have to eat healthy .. or you would get side effects.

This is your experience. And that’s important.

I agree it’s somewhat true for me for the first few months, but I can tolerate a slice of nice, thin dough pizza, I can eat (& do eat) spicy food. I’m 9 months in and can eat whatever I like, I just have no desire for it.

You need to do what’s right for you when it comes to food - but it’s just food. It’s not a treat.

15m in and I can eat anything now. Not in terms of bingeing on it, but I rarely get more than the odd unsettled tummy the day after a night out. Happy to have one course, or a starter/small plate for my main, though. Cannot imagine tucking into 3 courses ever again and happily leave food on my plate now. If I fancy a piece of pizza, a bit of curry, etc I have it. I just find I’m happy with a small portion or a taste with my salad.

I think most of you started Mounjaro for weight loss and not diabetes like me.

You have posted on the ‘Weight Loss Injections / Treatments’ board, OP.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 17/12/2024 19:15

And for what it’s worth I have eaten something spicy pretty much every day on my eight months to date of MJ.

Cantbesure · 17/12/2024 19:18

Yes @Moier I'm probably going to delay mine by a couple of days. Plenty of people dose every 9/10 days. My dose would be Xmas Eve otherwise and I don't want full suppression on Christmas Day. I will also stick at 2.5mg and not titrate to 5mg as I don't want to be ill over Christmas.

TwirlyPineapple · 17/12/2024 19:49

I inject on a Friday so I'm keeping mine the same as usual. Usually by Wednesday the bad side effects have worn off and I can eat a little more than I can at the start of the week.

If my jab day was Monday or Tuesday, I'd probably move it just because I have nausea and don't really want to each anything much on the first days after jabbing. But I wouldn't avoid a jab just in order to binge eat.

Iv had pizza on MJ and had no side effects.
Iv had McDonald’s too and I eat a bit of chocolate every couple of days.
You don’t have to completely stop everything you are saying, just eat it in moderation.

Yea some people get side effects but plenty of people don’t.

Iv lost 33lbs in 9 weeks so I can’t be doing anything that bad.

and no I won’t be skipping a dose.

Bornonasday · 17/12/2024 23:29

Dietingfool · 17/12/2024 16:00

Didn’t your obesity cause the diabetes in the first place? As mounjaro is seldom offered, so weight loss must have been a huge factor in this. If your weight wasn’t an issue you’d not have been put on this, but other diabetes drugs. This one is not the go to. It is the go to when it is weight related.

so I guess we are all confused.

I was thinking the same.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 18/12/2024 10:11

It's Orlistat where you CAN'T eat the fried stuff or you pay with the greasy orange squits of doom - not Mounjaro.

Mounjaro you want to eat less... Orlistat is designed that you shit extra fat out and you pay the price if you eat too much of it.

susiedaisy1912 · 18/12/2024 19:35

My next jab is due on the 23rd and I'm skipping it for a week as I can't eat any rich foods on MJ at all otherwise I'm in pain or get diarrhoea. So even a small bit of cream or cheese or a few roast potatoes in oil will set me off and I'm not ruining Xmas day for me or my family by either being ill or refusing most of the food on offer. My appetite will still be slightly lower even with missing a dose so I won't be gorging myself. No different to any other diet plan or aid in my opinion. If I was following SW or WW i would give myself a break over Xmas then go back to it afterwards.

1clavdivs · 18/12/2024 20:57

I'm looking forward this year to being able to eat whatever I want in moderation, and not feel deprived because of it. I find just the thought of it liberating. I've lost interest in alcohol and one mini mince pie or a miniature chocolate is wonderfully, blissfully, enough. Rather than repeatedly picking at things all day just because they're there.

I don't look at things anymore and wish I could have them. I'm just not interested and am happy without. It's wonderful. No way am I stopping and no way do I want to lose momentum. I feel like this sense of balance and control is what I've wanted my whole life, and it might well be the only Christmas I ever get to experience it.

Head/desk.

Onand · 19/12/2024 00:11

Sorry OP but your approach to this is misguided. Foods which are detrimental to your health are not treats- they are counterproductive to your hard work. It’s a fat persons mindset and you’re not a fat person anymore you’re someone who overcame adversity to retake control of her life.

Redlightbulb · 19/12/2024 00:55

Not me. I really don’t want a weight gain over Xmas as I still have a lot left to lose. Also recovering from binge eating disorder and could easily go off the rails. Been out for 2 meals this week and it was a struggle to get through them and it has triggered a bit of acid reflux.

I feel the same way- liberated from being stuck in an endless cycle of either restricting or over-indulging.

For this reason I won't be coming off MJ anytime soon - I hope to continue at a low dose once I reach my goal weight.

This is wrong. I've not majorly changed WHAT I'm eating (though the mj does make me want lighter options more often) I'm just eating less of it.

No adverse side effects at all. Have you experienced side effects when eating fatty/spicy food?

Most people do. Even the manufacturers point it out, you are in the minority if you’re still eating fatty food.

spicy is fine though, but fatty and too much sugar gives most folks issues.

This SO MUCH

I had no idea when I started this just how healing it would be feeling like this.

My mental health is much improved because of it.

Calmhappyandhealthy · 19/12/2024 07:00

Rather take her advice than random people

Good idea
Why start the thread, then? Confused

@AgathaMystery what does Head/Desk mean?

Picture me….

Diabetes specialist and 9mth veteran user of MJ. Reading that post from the OP and banging my forehead on my desk. My diabetes specialist desk.

Attitudes like the OP are the reason people think GLP-1 drugs are a ‘quick fix’ and for ‘lazy people’

Amen to that.
It's more of a treat this year to feel in control of my eating and enjoy one or two chocs rather than scarfing down a whole box in one day.

I'll still take pleasure from food, lovely cheese and charcuterie, olives, nibbles etc. I won't need much so it's very much quality over quantity.
