I had a lovely (unexpected) Christmas present this morning of 2lbs off to make 21lbs in total.

Might not last but pleased for now!

Day 2 on 7.5 & the burps & farts are back… I could start a novelty band!

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 27/12/2024 08:51

I braved the scales this morning and, for the first Christmas ever, there was no gain! There was no loss either, but given that I’ve had at least a couple of drinks every day for the last 3, and have definitely eaten more than I would on a normal day at the moment (but much less than I would at Christmas usually) I was not expecting one. There’s still a few days of normality until the New Year, so maybe I’ll see a little drop before 2025

WoodsWanderer · 27/12/2024 09:09

Today is 5 weeks since I started on MJ.

SW 173
CW 160.8
Total on MJ 12.2lbs
I lost 2lbs in the few days before my first injection so that takes me to 14.2lbs 😊
2.4lbs of that in the past week.

The last time I was this weight according to MFP was February 2015 (when I'd just left my husband and gone into temporary accommodation with a 6 and 10 year old and my life was upside down). This feels big.
Total loss in 2024 22.2lbs 😊

Me too! 0.8lb loss. That said, I’ve not been exercising this week so chances are it is muscle loss 😩 back on it next week 💪

Hope you’re ok. 2015 sounds like it was tough. You should be really proud of your achievements, amazing loss for 5weeks!

Stepped on the scales today and there was a kilo gain. I'm sure it will be a mix of things and not a full out gain but I had toyed with missing a week to enjoy Christmas but the scales made me see I didn't want to undo the benefits of MJ so I've taken 30 clicks of a 5 pen this morning. I've got drinks tonight and food and drinks tomorrow so hopefully this is enough to not stop me enjoying myself, but not over indulging.

I find the Shotsy app really helpful for tracking my journey and also the estimated amount of MJ in my system.

I’m going to download that app I think. Don’t be too hard on yourself. All work and no play and all that! 💪

After sailing through the last 6 weeks (2.5mg) with minimal side effects, I had a horrible experience yesterday.

I have definitely eaten and drank more than I thought I'd be able to, over the last two days. Still MUCH less than I would have done. In hindsight I've also not drunk enough water.

Visited my DB and parents yesterday (an hour away). Usual Boxing Day cold meats, cheese and pud etc. Had small-ish amounts, also had some chocs. Drank alcohol free beer as was driving.

Got in the car yesterday evening to drive home and felt absolutely fine. 10 mins in I thought I was developing indigestion. Common for me so had an indigestion tablet.

It got worse and worse until I had excruciating pain under my ribs and in my back. Not acid like my normal indigestion.

I had to stop driving and walk around to ease it as it was so painful. Ended up being violently sick into a bush. Had to stop again during the rest of the drive to walk around due to the pain.

Got into bed as soon as I got home, with a hot water bottle and peppermint tea and the pain went away within about half an hour. Not appeared since.

So either I have pancreatitis (obv. you always think the worst!), ate something that disagreed with me, or generally it was my body rebelling after 2 days of too much food.

Either way it was frightening. The pain was horrific and more than normal indigestion. But has disappeared just as fast as it arrived and left me with a sore throat from puking, and feeling a bit tired. That's it.

I had planned to increase to 3.75mg tomorrow but now it's made me worry, despite 6 weeks of nothing more than indigestion and burps.

I've not had quite as pronounced a reaction but I'm having vaguely similar symptoms. I think it's two days of very rich food. My symptoms are also improving. Fingers crossed I remember this and tailor my eating accordingly in future!

Cantbesure · 27/12/2024 10:04

@Mounjaropen no I don't feel bad. I've had a lovely few days and eaten and drank a fair bit. Although a LOT less than I would normally have done. I'm just aware of what I want from MJ and the expense so I'm back on it now. Don't want to undo the past 6 weeks.

@AlwaysTimeForWine that sounds very scary. How are you feeling now?

Completely normal to jump to the worst conclusion but you’ve identified what has happened over the past couple of days:

-You’ve eaten more in the past two days than the previous 6 weeks. Your stomach will have shrunk in that time
-You’ve eaten very rich food in those two days and your digestion system can’t cope with a rapid change in both volume and food type
-You’ve had fizzy drinks (beer)
-you’ve not drunk enough water
-Cheese. I can’t eat much if it right now either!

Hope you feel better today.

Shetlands · 27/12/2024 10:20

@AlwaysTimeForWine I've had that a few times (pre MJ) and it's horrible. It's incredibly painful and always ends in vomiting. Each occasion has followed an episode of overeating or eating rich food quite quickly. I rarely get it now because I've learned my lesson!

MsRumpole · 27/12/2024 10:29

I have also been letting off some absolutely horrific farts. I pity my family. They're being very good about it.

Being vertical is helping a lot, by the way - I just had a long-ish shower and feel much better for it.

@Mounjaropen I meant to thank you for the product recommendations - loving the Pixi Glow toner. The cleanser is also excellent - I'm only using it every two days at the moment as my skin finds it a bit full on if used every day.

Have added a body skincare routine to my day as well - currently using up an ancient facial scrub on my legs and arms!

Upping self care in whatever way is a reminder that we all deserve a bit of me time. Years of child-centred, elderly parent-centred life takes its toll on us all. Glad to hear you are seeing a difference 🥰

Have you lost much weight so far? It can trigger gallbladder disease which is horrendously painful and attacks tend to be triggered by high fat foods

The scales have been kind this morning. No gain. Quite impressive seeing as I’ve had a lot of treats and wine!

I am having this lovely circular thing going on where the more I take care of myself the more I feel I deserve it, and the more I feel I deserve self care, the better my self care is!

I’ve just had a look at Boots online for the pixiglow products - is it the clay cleanser and the glow tonic?

My skin has been plagued with recurring acne since I was a teenager. I used to use oxytetracycline a couple of times a year which worked wonderfully but the GP is less keen to prescribe now. I had been using Duac (Benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin)
but my skin no longer gets on with it (it’s like it burns my skin, goes red and puffy, then peels!). Trying to find a less invasive solution. You’d think I’d have grown out of it by now…

I got the Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel, but the clay might be kinder to skin - I haven't looked at it. My admittedly sensitive skin can't handle the cleanser every day!

I use the pixiglow pads which are an acid toner. I’d be very careful introducing any form of acid toner or skin brightening products like Vit c if your skin is intolerant. Definitely look at the inkey list, La Roche Posay cicaplast range or the ordinary for products that won’t compromise your skin barrier. All available at boots. Do a little bit of online research as to which products you think you might need.

Day late weighing today but injected yesterday as normal

SW 91.4 kg
CW 81.2 kg
GW 70kg

really pleased to be in the 12st again, half way to goal and managed a loss over Xmas with DHs birthday dinner out too. Am staying on 5mg for next month and will see how it goes. 7 weeks until I go on holiday and looks like goal may be close by then.

sorry to hear some
are suffering with increased side effects over Xmas.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/12/2024 12:19

I had a fright last night too. Took my jab at about 9.30, and by 1am I had a nagging pain in my chest, on the left. I was about 75% sure it was wind, but it was staying stubbornly in the same alarming location. Fell asleep eventually and woke up at 6 with the same pain in the same place. Panicked a bit but still didn’t feel like anything else was wrong, and it wasn’t a particularly bad pain, it’s just that any chest pain is worrying. Lay down on my front and it moved to my stomach, so I went back to sleep on my front. I can still feel it a bit this afternoon. Surely if it was proper sinister chest pain it would be a lot worse? It’s not acidy like normal indigestion.

TeenLifeMum · 27/12/2024 12:38

Next pen ordered and I’ve gone for the 7.5. Minimal side effects on 5mg but not amazing suppression either so I am guessing I need to go up.

Travelling home from family. Hour long journey looks more like 2 hours and dd3 is white as a sheet looking like she’s about to vomit. Happy holidays everyone 😂🙈
