Mounjaro, 10st or more to lose.

Hello fellow mounjaro users or people thinking about starting. I have seen there is a thread for people needing to lose 5 stone plus, but even there I felt a little bit big.
I need to lose 12 stone, and even then my BMI would be 33.
Alot of people seem to be starting mounjaro with a starting BMI of 33, so I think it sometimes feels better to be among people who have the same amount to lose, 12 stone feels so daunting and scary. It's going to be a long battle.

This is my final chance before weight loss surgery, which I really don't want to do or risk.
I am 32 years old and have 2 young sons (7 and 5), one is disabled and the other is struggling and is on a reduced timetable at school. They need me to be around for a very long time and at the moment I feel like I am failing them.

I started calorie counting/a calorie controlled diet last Monday (2nd December). I was thinking about putting it off because of Christmas, but I can always come up with an excuse, so I decided to just go for it.

I weighed in at 27st and 7lbs.
At 5 ft 8 that gave me a BMI of 58.5!!!

I had some blood tests in March which showed I was prediabetic, I have done precisely nothing since then to do anything about it and have buried my head in the sand!

My mounjaro was delivered Tuesday afternoon and I took my first jab on Wednesday morning. I think its working slightly now, but I didn't feel any different for the first 3 days, but I'm either used to eating less (unlikely in 7 days) or the mounjaro has started to take effect.

So, one week in, calorie controlled diet every day, trying to get lots of protein, drinking loads, a few days of mounjaro in my system.

Weigh day time,

drum roll

26st and 11lbs!!!! 🥳

10lbs gone. I am very happy with that. I used to be able to lose 15lbs in a week when I was younger, but I was much more active back then and thanks to being so overweight I do struggle with activity.

BMI is now 57! So I've lost 1.5 on my BMI. Fingers crossed I can keep this going, I just need the number to keep going down! I'm really hoping I can be in a healthier and happier place with myself.

So, long post over.

Does anyone with 10st or more to lose want to join me here?

I know its daunting but I think if anyone feels like me, this is probably our last hope before surgery and our health is probably starting to decline or already has due to the weight we have on our bodies.

My official weigh day is tomorrow morning to get a round up of the week .
I have been using the rh fitness app and weighing each morning. It started out ok , but the last two days 😳

maybe it will sort itself out tomorrow but that’s a very low loss for week one isn’t it 🥲

it’s still a loss , I’m eating better and no side affects so far

it reads bottom to top , so it’s 1.8lb down

Mounjaro, 10st or more to lose.

@Grumpyoldthing a loss is a loss. I don't think you necessarily get the big week 1 losses on mounjaro in the same way that you do with normal diets.

You are eating better and probably drinking a lot more fluids. Mounjaro slows down digestive transit so you are holding onto food for longer.

You know what WW/SW weigh ins are like I suppose? Week one you are wearing your winter coat, having just eaten pie and chips before the meeting. By week 15 some people are practically down to bra and pants having barely sipped at water all day. All to chase the losses.

After 8 weeks I'm down 9.5kg, 1.5 stone in old money. This evening I'm moving up to 7.5 injections.

WafflingDreamer · 16/01/2025 08:40

@Grumpyoldthing I've never had huge losses on MJ I'm averaging at 2.2lb a week. I have weeks where I wish I had moved up faster to see if I could have pushed my losses quicker but my aim when I first started was to consistently lose 2lb a week. Sometimes I'll lose 1lb a week for a couple of weeks then I'll have a larger 4/5lb loss. A few people in my starter group had huge 10/11lb losses in their first week which seemed unfair when I have so much more to lose but a loss is a loss and I'm in it for the long run.

In my head the slower you lose weight the more chance of your skin keeping up and also not getting as much muscle wastage.

Kay2000 · 15/01/2025 23:31

@Lola3034 “walking dead 🤣”. I know what you mean, mine was always very low too in my 20s but went up alongside my weight.

Once I had a surgery under general anaesthetic and when I came round from it they actually were checking my blood pressure 3 times (2 different nurses and 2 separate machines) because they couldn't believe my blood pressure was that low and thought that the first machine was faulty. In the end they concluded that since I am very alert and chatting away happily, I must be ok😂. Not sure what it was at the time. The lowest it ever got was 95/55 on my household blood pressure machine.

GnomeDePlume · 16/01/2025 10:28

I'm another with naturally low BP. Had nurses tapping their BP machine in confusion when a 20+ stone person has normal to low BP. That is not what it says in the book!

I did notice when I lost weight on Lighter Life that my BP dropped even further with sudden standing up being a bold move. This may have been because I was only on 700 calories per day.

Kay2000 · 16/01/2025 10:30

2lb a week is 104lb in a year @Grumpyoldthing I’m hoping for consistency in my weight loss, which I’ve never managed at diet clubs as I inevitably get fed up of restrictive eating and gaining half a lb and give up. If I can be 100lb lighter this time next year it’ll be life changing for me.

PinkArt · 16/01/2025 12:05

I was hoping to be one of the people who loses a stone in their first week and was disappointed for a moment when it was 'only' four pounds. Then I gave my head a wobble and remembered how ecstatic I'd be with four pounds off if losing by any other method.
As @Kay2000 points out, if we are averaging 2lbs a week we are losing the equivalent of a 90s celebrity in a year!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/01/2025 13:55

I’m another one who ‘only’ lost 4lbs in the first week and was disappointed but soon got over it, I also average 2lbs a week and am more than happy with that, however an occasional 3 or 4 would be wonderful 😂

VelvetWildflower · 16/01/2025 14:20

Measured myself on the 12th of this month and again today. I've lost 3 inches from my waist and two from my heaviest part around my belly button. Absolute ecstatic about that!

PinkArt · 16/01/2025 16:37

Excellent work @VelvetWildflower. I'm measuring as I start each new pen. Last month I was hopeful to record some great inch loss and there was fuck all change 😂
I think tomorrow's measurements should see more improvement as my tummy has gone to looking about 8 months pregnant now, rather than 9+.

I didn't lose any inches the first few weeks so I was surprised (but very pleased)!

OliviaFlaversham · 17/01/2025 07:07

I wish I had measured from the beginning but weirdly didn’t even think of it! I started on 2nd November at 23 stone and this morning I am 19 st 2lbs. No overall goal but I focus on getting to each new stone range.

Please could someone post a link to where to buy needles to extract the bonus dose? The cost of this is worth it but undeniably a hefty chunk each month!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 17/01/2025 07:17

Wahoo @VelvetWildflower for inches and to @OliviaFlaversham thats incredible - 4 stone in 2 months!

Today is my second jab and it looks like I've lost 3.5ish kg but my period is very irregular and my weight last week was just before my period then started so I think most of it is literally period weight as my weight does regularly fluctuate around then!! I wish I'd weighed the week before then now!

I guess next weeks weigh in will give me a more true loss (hopefully!)

GnomeDePlume · 17/01/2025 07:18

@OliviaFlaversham 4 stone loss! That is amazing, congratulations.

19st is an absolute dream of mine. You are smashing it!

SilenceInside · 17/01/2025 09:54

@OliviaFlaversham here's a link for the needles:

https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/fms-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml-fms-fms-32g-10ml-ukmedi-co-uk

There are ones with shorter needle lengths if you don't want the 8mm ones.

SilenceInside · 17/01/2025 10:30

Friday is my weekly weigh-in and injection day, so here are my current stats at the end of week 28:

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 97.3kg (15st 4 lbs), was 98.4kg (15st 6lbs) last week
GW: 90kg (14st 2 lbs) fourth interim goal.

My weekly losses to date have been:
-9, -2, -7, -3, -6, -4, -1, -4, -3, -4, -3, -5, -2, -7, -3, -2, -4, 1, -5, -2, -6, 0, -3, -1, -2, -1, -2,-2 for a total of 92lbs down. Or 41.7kg.

I normally weigh every day, but as an experiment this week I put the scales out of sight and only weighed in today. I found it fairly hard to resist the urge to weigh daily, and then towards the end of the week was beginning to convince myself that I would have gained this week. So I was pleasantly surprised to see a 1.1kg loss.

I'm still on 7.5mg, will probably stick with that for my next pen depending on how this coming week goes.

Kay2000 · 17/01/2025 11:02

Well done @OliviaFlaversham and @SilenceInside that’s fantastic losses. I’m focusing on one stone at a time. I started at 22st, first target 21st and I think I’ll actually manage that as it working better for me than I’d expected.

PinkArt · 17/01/2025 13:08

I weighed in at 17st 10 this morning, a tantalising one pound off two stone lost since November. The inches were also down today when I measured, my monthly Photo Of Doom looks much better than the first one AND my blood sugars were on the normal range and not the pre diabetic range. I don't think I can say I've reversed it yet but that was a great win.

Lobsterteapot · 17/01/2025 15:05

Wow @OliviaFlaversham @PinkArt @SilenceInside and @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden absolutely smashing it. Bet you feel amazing.

Today is weigh day and third jab day - 6 pounds lost this week! Encouraged and excited to continue

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 17/01/2025 17:12

Wow 6lbs this week!!! And not the first week either that's just incredible really isn't it. Are you like not eating? Or how is it working? So excited for everyone.

OliviaFlaversham · 17/01/2025 17:17

Thanks for link @SilenceInside

I am really focused now on seeing 18 something. I know it is still obese but just getting into the next stone bracket is satisfying. Focusing on the fact I still have 9 stone to get to healthy BMI is not so satisfying and then seems too much and unachievable which isn’t good for my will power!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 17/01/2025 17:37

Oh wow look at everyone’s losses, especially those on their first week! That’s so encouraging for you all ☺️

has anyone seen the MeThreeSixty app? I downloaded it yesterday but really wish I had known about it at the beginning. It takes a full body scan of you and gives pretty accurate measurements and a 3D image of your body 😱. But now I’m 30lbs lighter I’d love to see the difference. I’ll take another scan once I’ve lost another two stone. It’s a bit traumatic but I highly recommend it. I use the free version, if you pay you can set goals I think.

FknOmniShambles · 17/01/2025 21:38

Evening all! Have loved seeing the early losses from people!
For me, it's a bit of an odd one. According the scale, I am not once ounce lighter. But I know, I am CERTAIN, I am a few pounds lighter, as I can feel it in my body, my energy, etc. I just don't know what's going on. I've slashed my calorie intake by about 60% and gone from huge alcohol units to zero.... So, I'm feel a bit down but going to persevere.

I took my second jab tonight (wanted to move from Sat to Fri)! So hopefully this time next week we will see something measurable. I will admit I'm having lots of wine tonight but refuse to feel guilt after a huge effort this week.

Not sure what to make of the drug going forward. I'm feeling hungry a LOT but then I have slashed calories to a very low amount.

Confused really.
