Week 5 day 2
SW 13stone 3
CW 12 stone 2
GW DK yet

Morning to all the nov starters. My update is I tried to do my first so called bonus dose yesterday so to forced the pen back round to 1 which I managed to do but then it seemed stuck and the plunger wouldn’t move down. No biggie so I’ve made brave transition straight up to 5 dose. Defo felt a bit sick last night but hoping it passes today. Feel like I’m paying lots more for my prescription than some of you wise women (and guys) -my options were so limited as my BMI was just under 30 when I started so only Asda Pharmacy accepted me due to also having high cholesterol and they are pricey ….I was turned down by all the other providers as not being actually obese although right on the cusp. (Fair enough I guess) Any ideas? I just went onto med express yesterday as it seems to be mentioned a lot on this thread but I can’t join now especially as my weight is dropping nicely for now. I’m committed anyway and have budgeted for this and can stick with Asda but just wondered if anyone had any bright ideas if I could swap over provider wise….to save a bit of cash??

Morning everyone!

another positive day yesterday and scales have budged down again slightly this morning 🥳 weekend will be trickier though when there’s more people around the house and more food to prepare/tempt.

todays plan:
30 minute jog (although roads were flooded here last night so I’ll have to assess when I do the school run

Porridge
Homemade soup
Pasta bake and salad

Awesome!

I got my whoosh this morning! 1.8kg off, which shouldn't even be possible but I started my period yesterday so I'm putting this week's stubborn scales down to that.

Total loss is 12.2kg in 6 weeks and I'm in the 15 stone bracket. Haven't been here since pre-kids and my oldest is 9.

On the subject of cost, I am definitely saving at least the cost of the pen on food. No takeaways, no coffee and cake, no booze, no chocolate for in the car on the arduous 2 mile trip home from Tesco. Even just the days where I fancied a particular meal and would easily spend £15 on ingredients for it when there were plenty of suitable options at home.

I still feel a bit sick at the cost though and dreading the cost of the higher doses.

Fab loss! Congratulations 👏

Morning, I am considering starting Mounjaro. I'm 36, 86kg, 5ft5. I am very uncomfortable in my body most of the time.

I have been reading some of the other threads here, I noticed some people referring to taking supplements to help with side effects....can anyone recommend supplements/foods to help please? I am quite anxious I think primarily because of the cost and feeling like I shouldn't spend that on myself (single mother guilt) and also because I am quite an anxious person and I still have to work, so don't want this getting worse!

We have very similar stats, although I am in the menopause. I don’t think anyone is specifically taking supplements to counteract the side effects, but everyone in the main is trying to alter eating patterns and lifestyle choices.

If you have anxiety, this might not be the solution if you are going to worry about side effects that might not present themselves. We all worry to a degree and it is the case that everyone reacts differently to the same meds. Regarding the cost, only you can make that decision but undoubtedly there is a saving to be made from altering eating/drinking habits.

keep posting before making your decision and have a read through other threads.

End of week 3 weigh in….

SW 18 stone 4lbs

week 1 - 5lbs
week 2. - 2lbs
week 3 - 4lbs

CW 17 stone 7 lbs
total loss so far 11 lbs

Goal is to see my pubes when lying in bath which I suspect is 100lb loss needed. 89lb to go!

Staying on 2.5 MJ as suppression is still good.

Emailed Med Express and they pice matched Private pharmacy online and credited my account with £60 so next 2.5 pen will cost £94 including postage.

We can do this 💪

I love your goal 😂 well done on the loss so far!

Wk 3 D1 for me. I'm postponing my jab until tomorrow, and next week I'll move it to Sunday.
I've ordered 5mg for my next pen and I'm going to count the clicks for 3.75 and see how I am on that as I'll be starting it the week before Christmas.

I've got my work day out today but only plan on staying until teatime.

Wk1 -3.6
Wk 2 -1.8
Total loss - 5.4lbs

22lbs ish to go .

Mounjaropen · 06/12/2024 08:15

Quick update from me. Still 12st 11lb but I’ve not been able to exercise as much since Monday after my first 5mg. It might be coming off coffee, but I’ve had the most awful headache all week accompanied by nausea.quite a lot of lethargy and I’m aware of a raised HR. I think as I had such good suppression on 2.5mg, I’m going to revert to this next week.

roasted chicken thighs with roasted veg, harissa seasoning for my main meal today.

Didn’t jab last night because Shotsy told me not to - will do it this morning once kids have left for school. So, about to take shot 4, of 2.5mg.

Start weight: 12.6
Current weight: 11.11.8
Total loss: 8.6lbs
Week 1: -4.4lbs
Week 2: -2.7lbs
Week 3: -1.1lbs

I started at 28 BMI based on high BP and cholesterol with Simple Online Pharmacy. Not as cheap as some, but certainly cheaper than Asda. Service good so far.

DarkForces · 06/12/2024 08:41

I had a prawn and avocado kimchi bowl for my main meal yesterday. It was lovely https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/recipe/prawn-avocado-kimchi-bowls

Thanks so much Mounjnewb for letting me know 😊I’ve messaged them this morning let’s see what they say. I’m kind of thinking once I get to my GW whatever that is I will need maintenance doses anyway (to avoid relapse eek) so I hopefully it becomes more affordable long term …..

I had a mini win yesterday…a lovely winter coat which recently couldn’t fit due to my fat middle section (no other way to describe it) now is zipping up again with no problems. Agh it made me so happy to wear it again. I almost donated it to charity a while ago in a fit of pique- so glad I resisted.

Woohoo well done! That’s one of my goals - to get back into so many items of my wardrobe. I’m so pleased you kept it.

Ooh I do love a winter coat update! Well done that is an excellent NSV. Mine zips up but still need to lose some tum and bum to reduce the Michelin woman look, at least it will keep me warm now.

I vote we make @Mounjaropen our menu planner! Just going to walk to the shops now for chicken thighs & more veg😂

BleachedJumper · 06/12/2024 09:26

The 3 jump I had in the week has gone again, which is lovely! Period bloat is real.

Im now 3 lbs off my next stone bracket, would love to drop it before Christmas.

I’ve felt really good on 3.75, definitely more suppression than my last two weeks of 2.5.

I can see me sticking with the 5 pen for a while, it’s working and I still feel like I’m putting the work in by adjusting my food choices.

Invisablepanic · 06/12/2024 09:41

End of wk 5 weigh in and I'm down 12lbs which I'm really happy with.
SW 17st
CW 16.2st
Mid GW 14st

I'll do my 2nd 5mg jab today and see how I feel by Monday in whether to order another 5mg or move up to 7.5mg. I'm slightly worried as we're away in-between Xmas and NY so if I did go up I'd be injecting the first day of the trip. It's just CP so not abroad or anything but still a consideration.

It was being at CP over the summer actually that spurred me to really consider MJ, someone took a family picture of us and I almost cried. I looked so massive, I still put it off as I was nervous but I wish I'd taken the plunge earlier.

I was the same. Hated looking a pictures with my mini double chin. Ugh. That’s also disappearing. I feel the same in that I wish I started sooner but it’s such a blessing isn’t it to find this option. I’m feeling so much more optimistic about life overall - just having some control over my eating and feeling somewhat healthier. And this thread helps so much knowing others are on this journey too.

imanidiotsandwich · 06/12/2024 09:58

So after my first dose of 3.75 (which I took a day later than normal) I've been feeling hunger again.
Still not able to eat 'normal' portions but definitely more than the previous weeks.

Try mixing up plain olive oil with chilli or garlic infused olive oil. Just chop everything up, toss in the oil and sea salt and bung in the oven at 180 for as long as you think your veg needs. Roasted cauliflower is a revelation I can tell you. Years of me thinking it was only destined to be 'nana veg' 😂

I've drunk plenty of water. It's deffo not that. I feel better today so let's see what happens! I've got my tennis lesson later which I love - nothing like hitting a few balls to alleviate stress!
