Anyone else lost their bottom? Pic attached - be warned!

My bottom is literally as flat as a pancake. I'm not in the first flush of youth either so it's probably worse than it would be if I was say, 25!

Anyone else?

Great weight loss. I need to do the same.

Can I just say you look great and I love your wallpaper in your bedroom

Pretty standard for fast weight loss. You will lose body fat globally. Will need to be built up with muscle (exercise)

You lose muscle if you lose weight rapidly and aren't eating sufficient protein and doing weight bearing exercise. The glutes are the largest muscles in the body.

That’s where I am - given a choice between my huge bum at 6st heavier and a flat one that fits nicely in size 10s, I’ll settle for the latter. And maybe start going to the gym to build up my general fitness. My mum had a small, flat bum as was coveted in the 70s/80s, especially for those buying those gloria vanderbilt jeans that were all the rage then (my mum had a zillion pairs in all the colours of the rainbow).

Flat bums were never coveted. Small bums yes, but not flat. Very different things

and in real life it’s not a choice between obese/flat bum. We just need to exercise and eat enough protein and you can fit “nicely”into size ten with a strong/rounded back side.

IsItSomethingIAte · 30/11/2024 11:45

Just to add to the thread and my earlier comment that many people also have naturally nice rounded bigger bums and they also look fantastic in clothes. Well-proportioned and curvy too. You can't force what you don't have; you can just maintain it properly either way.

MidnightMeltdown · 30/11/2024 12:09

I wish I had a bum like that. I've always had a bum that sticks out, even when I was a size 8.

It's a nightmare trying to buy skirts, dresses and longer coats that don't make me look like I have a ridiculous bulge at the back that the fabric is struggling to contain!

I know that bums are fashionable atm, but I've always wanted a flat one!

Meanest · 30/11/2024 12:15

I have a v flat butt and weak glutes naturally (inherited!) I had sciatica, was given physio exercises to help strengthen and ease pain. Didn't realise how effective they'd be at shaping my butt up!! Every second day squats and lunges with small weight (10kg was my max in the end but started smaller). Plus a few floor exercises. I've dropped the ball (and am flat butted once more) but I'm gonna start again cause I sure loved to give it a little pat when it was more muscly :)

IsItSomethingIAte · 30/11/2024 12:36

I've never seen or known anyone with a bigger bum look weird in clothes or struggle to get into clothes. Unless they had some type of comically humongous BBL.

It all still looks natural and nice to look at. Fits those who have it naturally.

As the owner of a bigger bum, I can tell you that certain styles are difficult. In particular:

  • wool coats that have pleats at the back - which tend gape
  • skater type dresses that end up being shorter at the back when stretched over a larger bum
  • pencil skirts which look ridiculous with a balloon at the back
  • jeans will often be tight across the bum and too big on the waist

If you are a size 10, it's not as simple as sizing up, because clothes will then be too big everywhere else, particularly the waist and shoulders. Personally, I think that most clothes are made for flat bums.

My bum agrees with everything you've said here!

And I'm old enough to remember (but not as old as a previous poster tried to pin on me!) when we would also be obsessed with whether our bum looked big in something! 'Does my bum look big in this?' was an oft uttered sentence

Well today I'm mourning the loss of my arse more than ever as I slipped on the stairs and went down every step on my bottom
Am extremely sore and wish I would have had more padding!!

@HansHolbein

Can I just say that having scored a shameful 11/15 on the Ozempic bingo, I am absolutely mortified!!!! And howling 😂
In fact, so mortified, that I am going to adopt OPs healthy eating plan (without injectibles though, because although I am huge enough to qualify for them several times over, I do worry about side effects) and get a grip!
@PoliticallyErect
I think you are amazing to have accomplished this-thank you for sharing your eating plan-I also love your bedroom!!

PoliticallyErect · 30/11/2024 19:32

@Xmasmunkeh ouch! Have you recovered?!

@Gingerjambrie ah thank you! And good luck with the weight loss, I'm sure you'll smash it

I don’t mean to be offensive at all with my observations:

It appears that naturally you are an apple shape, so it’s part of your DNA to retain weight around your waist/torso as opposed to your bum unfortunately.

I also think the quality of your skin could be improved as in the underwear pic, the texture seems quite visible from a distance.

Overall I think you would benefit from a proper body recomposition, have you got up to date stats on your body fat and muscle mass? I think you should start regularly monitoring this. You need to possibly lose weight on your torso to get more definition, but simultaneously you need to build muscle mass. I don’t think weight loss alone will get you the results you desire, because your body will naturally want to stay at an apple shape in terms of fat distribution.

PoliticallyErect · 02/12/2024 20:33

@NewDaye I'm not offended at all and they are valid points. I do veer towards apple shaped it's true but since I had a tummy tuck I can't put weight on around my stomach now (you probably know but fat cells are removed during the operation making it impossible to gain weight again in that area. The flip side to that is ... the weight goes elsewhere so mine will automatically go upwards, giving me a muffin type top and bigger arms etc. I've never had big legs or bottom really so my battle is now always with my top half!)

So yeah- it feels like I've got another battle on my hands. I've managed to get to 9 stone 11 but I'm lacking in muscle tone and strength.

I've never checked any stats bar my weight so that's probably a good place to start
