Anyone else lost their bottom? Pic attached - be warned!

My bottom is literally as flat as a pancake. I'm not in the first flush of youth either so it's probably worse than it would be if I was say, 25!

Anyone else?

@Losingthetimber despite appearances, I really haven't lost 40% of any muscle I may have had. Can you even imagine?!

Of course you’ve not. Yes you’ve lost your glute muscle, but you’d have to be seriously going some to lose 40 percent of your muscle. Where do folks even read this nonsense, 🙄

HansHolbein · 29/11/2024 12:54

@Losingthetimber we’ll have to add that one to the bingo card too 😂

I haven't read the full thread but scanned and saw lots of recommendations for glute excercises. This will help but not until you make sure your core and pelvic floor are strong. A flat butt is a sign of your body overcompensating because of core weakness. I have the same issue as you op and did years of body pump and squats. My thighs were ripped but my butt was still flat. I ignored my core as I hated core workouts. As soon as I remedied that my butt got shape

Donkey kicks, squats, lunges.

MIL is 65 and has always been slim. Her bum has disappeared within last five years. He hasn't lost any weight but bum is not anymore there. Something to do with aging?

Yes, it's related to the decline in oestrogen after menopause. It affects muscle mass throughout the body and because the gluteals are the biggest muscles in the body it is particularly apparent there.

wizzywig · 29/11/2024 14:07

Yep my one has lost its boing

SuzieQ300 · 29/11/2024 14:19

I always had a good bum, got into my mid 40s and noticed it had started to slip down the backs of my legs! Solution, exercise. I started regular exercise to get my bum back, I've been at it for 4 years (big muscles take time to build) but I now enjoy exercise for exercises sake. I started with going to the gym, then exercise classes. Lots of women older than me and really motivating to see how fit they were. The leg press machine at the gym is your bum building friend. Means you can squat heavier weights with good form. Start slowly, get yourself used to exercising. My bigger bum is comfier to sit on now :) You have fab legs so you're half way there anyway. 😉

As a pp has said, this is muscle loss. Aesthetics aside, it's incredibly important for women to have strong glutes because of the role that they play in stabilising your pelvis (including the pelvic floor), hips, and knees.

You can start with squats and split squats. Do them while you wait for the kettle to boil, or hold a squat while you brush your teeth. Bridges are very effective too.

yes, just do twenty squats morning and night while brushing your teeth. It makes a massive difference.

EasternStandard · 29/11/2024 16:00

You look fantastic

Do some exercises for the bum but it doesn't really matter

What a game changer this is

I read it here and yes I understand biology and do not think it work by magic.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, we're on the same page and I appreciate it. I hope that people are as well informed before they start taking these drugs so that they don't end up risking their strength... although from the OP it seems not.

Ah yes, the beacon of truth that is instagram.

My arse is flat as a pancake from weight loss. My loss was from calorie control not injections.

FlappingMadly · 29/11/2024 21:05

I do lunges, squats, kettle bell swing (not sure what it's called - you swing it low and slow between legs and lift it above your head squeezing your glutes). Power skips and ski also good for bum.
Congrats on your loss!

@Xmasmunkeh it is a post promoting an ebook about the risks and benefits of ozempic etc put together from the latest studies and observations of people using them (which are sited in the post as PMID: 38629387, 38687506, 38829659)

The website associated with the account is called nutritionfacts.org. Don't worry, I don't just read random stuff on Instagram and believe it blindly, who would do that eh!? 😂

I think you did just read and post the headline. Which is embarssing, because absolutely because you’ve not understood what the snippet is saying.

pr what we are saying. And it is basic biology, you lose lean muscle mass when you don’t eat enough protein. So the people talked about didn’t eat enough protein or exercise.

honesltly it’s embarrassing to defend it.

THisbackwithavengeance · 30/11/2024 07:32

When I lose weight, my arse gets like this. In the past as a younger woman I have done countless exercises, was at the gym 4-5 times a week and failed to develop my arse in any way.

It would've been a good look in years gone by OP when a small/non existent arse was coveted but sadly not presently. Just wait a few more years and you'll be in fashion again.

TimeForATerf · 30/11/2024 07:40

🖐️

same OP, four stone off on Mounjaro. I have never had an arse anyway and now at 58 my (slightly raised) tummy is bigger than my bum, I look the wrong way round. I did almost 100g protein a day according to MFP and walk miles and miles a week. My legs look good for the first time in my life but my bottom looks dreadful.

Im not sure there’s anything I can do about it unless I become a gym bunny, so I’ll live with it.

That’s where I am - given a choice between my huge bum at 6st heavier and a flat one that fits nicely in size 10s, I’ll settle for the latter. And maybe start going to the gym to build up my general fitness. My mum had a small, flat bum as was coveted in the 70s/80s, especially for those buying those gloria vanderbilt jeans that were all the rage then (my mum had a zillion pairs in all the colours of the rainbow).

Bettergetthebunker · 30/11/2024 07:58

Pretty standard for fast weight loss. You will lose body fat globally. Will need to be built up with muscle (exercise)
