Well I just finished showering /dressing and walked into the living room, in lounging clothes I may add so not dressed up , and my husband says, “you look lovely, you can really tell you’ve lost weight, no wonder so many people are using the drugs, with results like that” .

he knows I’d struggled to lose before, obviously, and we were discussing last night how so many are now on them.

and I think it’s true, as so many people are visibly loosing weight, and becoming way healthier, I for example, visibly look healthier, with all the puffiness and bloating gone, it’s going to encourage more and more to do it,

I mean sure, the forum is littered with fools havering on about cheating etc, but the acceptance levels are going to be enormous for these drugs I think.

and change the face of modern medicine, when you reduce obesity, you reduce cancer, stroke, heart attack, diabetes, joint replacements etc, you free up space in doctors surgeries , hospitals etc,

fast food demand will decline, a new demand for healthy fast food taking over. Gyms will see an increase in people actually going to the gym. Membership increases, As fit and toned will be the new aspiration. Not slim.

clothing in smaller sizes will increase in demand, as fewer people need the bigger sizes.

right now cost is a prohibitor for many, but that’s going to change over the next few years.

ultimately no one wants to be fat. No matter how folks shout about body positivity, no one wants to be fat. And no one wants to keep struggling to lose weight and keep it off. The painful hamster wheel of dieting.

Congratulations!

And yes I hope so with regards to all of the positives you have listed. I don't know what will happen when I stop taking them and I don't want to be on them long term, but I hope the way I feel about food does change permanently.

UtterlyQuackers · 23/12/2024 11:57

Quick question.

Can you change providers once you go under a BMI of 30? I am getting close but ME isn't the cheapest so would like to swap to somewhere cheaper but I am getting close to 30. So do I need to swap before then?

Well done to us losers! 😁

Yes you just need to prove you were on it before, usually a snagit of the prescription dose from the website. I’m also leaving med express.

AnneinEdinburgh · 23/12/2024 12:05

and no one will need a gastric band or bypass

Mysticmaiden2024 · 23/12/2024 12:53

Another slow loser..finally hit 1 stone loss today after starting on 2nd October. Still it's more than I could've ever lost without MJ. Im 5ft 3" started on 13 stone 1 and now 12 stone 1 and BMI is 30.1..so close to being overweight not obese!

AllstarFacilier · 23/12/2024 12:54

envbeckyc · 23/12/2024 00:22

I am getting close to my target weight so I think I have probably ordered my last pen - I have used med express but go via a cashback website to get a few pounds off the price. I haven’t tried to get money via the referral scheme and have just used medexpress for my orders.

I am quite nervous for Christmas Day as I am hosting the extended family, so I have chosen a seafood platter for a starter, but will be cooking lasagne (from scratch) for the main course with extra Italian dishes, cheeseboard, and Christmas pudding / Yule log etc…. No one knows I am taking the injection to loose weight, so hoping no one notices that I only eat a much smaller amount of food, and alcohol this Christmas!

I dropped my injection from 5mg to 2.5mg this month and found the appetite suppression has slightly dropped but I have eaten cakes or chocolate since I started in October so I worry how I will fit in over Christmas when there is much more expectation to eat and drink?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it less obvious you’re not really drinking or eating very much? I was thinking that I would just take small portions and be the glass topper up, so no one notices that I am am nursing the same glass of wine all day!

I drink rose and when I don’t want to be seen not drinking I drink really diluted ribena in a wine glass 😂

My BMI is currently 25.7 and I’m looking to move. Possibly to Cloud as they offer maintenance when your BMI gets to 22. Hopefully it will be a smooth transition…

They like fancy wine at Christmas and will be chugging back bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape at the dinning table…. which my husband buys for them, along with a few bottles of champagne…. if I don’t join in they will only assume that despite my old age that I am pregnant…. I am neutered but haven’t told them because they have made it clear that I should keep trying for a son… even though my husband and I are perfectly delighted with our two daughters and are not misogynistic!

Two healthy children was our target…. but even after all these years I still get the ‘we really wanted a grandson’ speech!

I can’t face them getting their hopes up for a new miracle perimenopause child!

JustKeepsBreathing · 23/12/2024 15:41

My update for accountability 😀
Took my 11th dose today. Another 2.5 mg. Mild suppression only this week so I’m having to actually make good choices which I think is better for long term management.
I’ve lost another 1 lb this week which makes my total weight loss 2 stone and 3 lbs in 10 weeks.
SW 15 stone 1 lb
CW 12 stone 12 lb
GW 10 stone 3 lbs

terracottacountryfarm · 23/12/2024 15:48

Finally down to 10st, never ever thought I'd say that - started at 11.6 (5ft).
Happy scales is stating I should hit my target weight April 2025 (8st 8).

I've noticed since I've upped to 7.5 I've been feeling very funny after eating. It's a peculiar feeling, i don't think it's a sick feeling just not right? anyone else experienced

Pickled21 · 23/12/2024 15:54

SW:14stone 6lb
CW:12st stone 9lb
GW: 9 stone
I have been taking mounjaro for 10 weeks now and my weight loss is slow and steady. I do still get hungry, I just feel satisfied much more quickly. My portion sizes have halved so no more going in for extra helpings. I did have horrible sulphur burps and diarrhoea for a week on 7.5mg but that has settled now. I don't see much of a difference when I look in the mirror but I've dropped a jean size so it is definitely helping.

terracottacountryfarm · 23/12/2024 15:55

Also to add - I went out Saturday night with some friends who I hadn't seen in a couple of months. One of them mentioned that I had lost so much weight and looked great - I haven't noticed it too much but she said your jawline etc looks amazing! albeit I've only 1.5 stone but she asked me what my secret was and I just said dieting. - couldn't bring myself to be honest... but how amazing does it feel when someone else notices!

Me. I jabbed my first 7.5mg yesterday and Iv had mild sick feeling but I do just feel off and not right. Nothing I can’t power through

@UtterlyQuackers @YummyCookie on the switching to get a better deal and maintenance plan as Medexpress doesn't offer it, my BMI has gone just under the 30 mark and I've looked at switching after my next pen (as have £40 credit) and have heard good things about Oushk. But would be interested to hear how you get on when you swap.

HansHolbein · 23/12/2024 20:05

Lots to catch up on! Congratulations @recklessgran what lovely news!

Loved reading everyone’s updates. Well done to all the losses.

I did my 3rd 7.5mg. Down 3.7lbs this week. 7.5mg is definitely my limit for now so I will order another next week.

5’5
SW 16st 2.7lb BMI 37.7
CW 13st 11lb BMI 32.1

My clothes are baggy as F. Hopefully there will be some good clothes sales in Jan!

I got to M&S for 6am this morning.. thinking nobody would be as sad as me to get there that early. Well, I was wrong. It was rammed. I got everything, though.

I’m not going out till Boxing Day evening now!

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 23/12/2024 21:08

2 stone 4lb off now - the nausea and lethargy has been horrific so I'm staying on 7.5 for a while longer. 58 packets of butter gone!
Well done all - it's certainly not easy

Caffeineneedednow · 24/12/2024 05:46

Weigh in day for me

SW 17 st 2 lbs (BMI 33.5)
CW 15 st 2 lbs (BMI 29.6)
GW 11 st 7 lbs ( completly arbitrary BMI of 22.5)

I am no longer obese as my BMI this morning moves me down into the overweight category. I'm so delighted can't believe it.

Also have NSV - I'm getting married in a couple of weeks. At the beginning of the summer I found a dress I loved on vinted but it wad a size 18 ( was a 22 at the time) I impulse bought it as a motivator. While I lost a few pounds over the summer no where near enough to get into the dress so bought another.

With the wedding approaching I tried it on again and the smaller one fits. I am so delighted 😀

letshavetea · 24/12/2024 06:25

@Caffeineneedednow - aahh! That’s a lovely story. So pleased for you! Two weeks isn’t long to wait until your wedding. Congratulations!

WafflingDreamer · 24/12/2024 06:56

Jab 12 done yesterday so far;
3x2.5mg
5x3.75mg
4x5mg

Weigh in number 11
SW 21st 9lb
CW 19st 8lb
GW 11st 13lb
1lb off this week
losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1
So a total of 29lbs/2st 1lb

I'm already finding it quite tough with all the extra food around and doing a lot less exercise than I do when the kids are at school. I'm not hungry but the odd mince pie, chocolate, crisps, hot chocolate have been sneaking in.

NearlyNewHip · 24/12/2024 07:19

I think im experiencing 'the' supression others speak about on 7.5........ on previous doses I didnt feel hungry all the time but looked forward to my three (a lot smaller than before) meals. My favourite food in the whole world is cheese, any cheese, all the cheese. You could put a cheeseboard in front of me now and I'd say no thank you. Jabbed on Saturday night, so hoping it gives a bit by tomorrow or Nan will be a bit sad after all the effort she's gone to!!!!

Losingthetimber · 24/12/2024 07:46

How’s everyone finding Xmas foods? .

All the lovely food and drink is out here, the chocolate panettone, the Lindt, the mince pies, the baileys, the Prosecco, the cheese etc, and my family are being lovely about it, when I commented I wasn’t going to be partaking (they know I’m on mj) they joked not to worry, they would do the heavy lifting this Xmas, and are fully accepting why I need to do this and hold firm, so I’m not partaking, just continuing on my diet. Even though I’m fairly sure it’s not as enjoyable with me sitting with nothing, they say nothing and act normal.

and I love feeding them, and even though I don’t want the food and drink, I do have some pangs, as I know it’s lovely, and usually id be merrily chomping and guzzling my way to several pounds heavier by now.

basically I’m feeling like some partially deprived weirdo feeder type. 😂

WafflingDreamer · 24/12/2024 08:01

I'm finding it really hard. I find whilst MJ has helped with so many aspects of my diet the one thing it doesn't help for me is mindless eating, just putting food in my mouth because it's there whether I'm hungry or not. I'm nowhere near as bad as I was pre-MJ but I do find it a massive challenge

letshavetea · 24/12/2024 08:28

I’m not finding the sweet stuff hard as I’m not a fan. I do absolutely love cheese and wine, so I’m factoring in small amounts of these. Not having the bread/crackers but having a matchbox sized piece of cheese with celery and grapes is fine (or so I tell myself!). I’ve bought some expensive fizz for today and tomorrow and will share that with my husband. For me I don’t think total deprivation would work!

LimeChateau · 24/12/2024 08:44

Long time lurker here, have been following the thread closely & found it ever so helpful in terms of advice and the lovely support.

I started MJ 10th October, today I am just 1lb shy of a 2 stone overall loss - over the moon! I’m loving clothes fitting better and being able to wear clothes I like and feel good in, rather than looking for the baggiest thing to hide away.

I’ve had a rough time moving up to 5mg three weeks ago - I suspect due to the combination of a relatively boozy/ fatty Christmas weekend away (some double vodkas and delicious pork belly finished me off!) and some travel sickness - anyone else found this?? Was generally feeling queasy all the time and could only face bland carbs - not great for protein and fibre.

Turned a corner the last few days, feeling good and full of energy again. Able to eat proper meals with chicken & lots of fruit and veg, although suppression is still high.

Which means hopefully can enjoy some Christmas food and the odd glass of champers. Was feeling quite sad as Christmas is my time! Stuffing and pigs in blanket Queen here 😆

@Caffeineneedednow so lovely to hear about your wedding dress, bet you will look beautiful. Enjoy the day!

Well done everyone on this journey and happy Christmas 🎄

Losingthetimber · 24/12/2024 08:57

Yes it is hard, and I think we all have our own way of managing it, either steer clear or have a little. I saw another thread where folks were coming off basically for a few days, to eat more. I’m not sure I think that’s the answer, but if it works for them, fair play.

also I think it falls to women often to mastermind Xmas, the food and drink, shopping, cooking, serving etc, which makes it feel a little odd we can’t partake, or partake as much as we normally would, ie with abandon.

normally we don’t have this food being consumed all round us,so it’s a challenging time of the year.
