I've got loads left to lose, I started off at 19 stone, have lost 1 stone 3lbs and have PCOS too plus post menopausal and on HRT. I'll be on MJ for the long term. It was a bit depressing to read that NHS England is doing a very limited roll our for 3 years of MJ.

I really need to do something about the dreaded constipation through. Prunes, water and ducolax aren't shifting anything. I am also getting indigestion especially when lying down at night. I'm on 2nd 5mg jab. If I could just have a decent 💩I woudl be several stone lighter ;-)

Sauerkraut works for me. Have a portion with my dinner when I need it and usually have a good 'clear out' before bed, few hours later (be warned, the noises my belly makes as its working are incredible) x

AnneinEdinburgh · 05/12/2024 15:15

That's a good idea thanks, I like saurkraut - will give it a go!

Losingthetimber · 05/12/2024 14:38

You’ve lost nearly 3 stone in seven weeks? That’s 5 pounds a week on average. I’m sorry but that doesn’t sound remotely healthy and it does sound very concerning?

Edited

I eat 1600 - 1800 calories per day, protein is between 100-140g per day. I do x5 strength and x 3 cardio per week and have two dogs to walk.
My rapid increase in weight was due to excessive snacking and drinking. So doesn’t seem beyond belief that now I’ve completely cut those the weight has gone with it.
I’ve seen others with similar losses, the trouble with calling people out is the thread stops being a safe and supportive place.
I had unrelated bloods last week and all levels are healthy and GP was supportive of MJ and my loss so far, thank you for your concern though.

Wow, I’m really envious. I do five gym sessions a week and I would maintain at 1800. Not lose nearly a pound a day every single day. That’s so unusual.

To lose a pound a week we need to under ear by 500 a dat, so to lose 5 lbs a week you’d need to be earring 2500 calories under each day. 2500! So if you’re eating 1800, that means you burn on average 4300 calories a day, that’s high level athlete stuff.

i don’t know how you do that level of exercise whilst under eating tk that extent. But kudos. That sounds so hard.

Mincepieinthesky · 05/12/2024 17:18

@Losingthetimber not sure why my post has caused you so much concern but apologies, I’ll also leave the thread. I’ve been on since the beginning and it’s always been so helpful.

good luck to everyone else on their journeys ☺️

HansHolbein · 05/12/2024 17:27

@Mincepieinthesky Nooooo 😞

recklessgran · 05/12/2024 17:36

Right I'm furious and need some advice!
Before I applied for my first MJ prescription I contacted my GP as advised in everything I'd read to ask if it was O.K. in view of my medicated underactive thyroid gland.
I got a rather snotty reply from my G.P. [usually fabulous] saying it is up to my prescriber to decide that and not up to them to advise me. So, I just went ahead and was completely honest with MedEx when filing my application. I have so far purchased 3 pens without issue. Now, today, out of the blue I've just had this e-mail from MedEx ;
"Our Pharmacy team has attempted to share your prescription details with your GP.
However, your GP surgery has informed us that they are not responsible for assessing the appropriateness of the prescription and, therefore, did not confirm any details with us.
To continue providing you with the best possible care and to ensure that your health records remain accurate and up to date, we kindly ask that you obtain a copy of your medical records and share them with us.
This will enable our clinical team to make informed decisions about your treatment and prescriptions."

I've tried to call my surgery to ask them WTF but of course you have to go through Anima!
Thoughts welcome - I'm devastated at the idea that I might not be able to get any more MJ due to snotty GP! I've got online access to my health record but it just shows a load of coded entries and repeat prescriptions............

HansHolbein · 05/12/2024 17:41

@recklessgran Annoying! You can ask the GP surgery for a SAR (subject access request).

They will provide your entire medical history. I think they have to do this by the 30th working day. It might be in paper form.

If you can’t be arsed with all that, can you try a different prescriber?

Huh? Why? I was literally giving you kudos!

recklessgran · 05/12/2024 17:49

Thanks @HansHolbein I've asked MedEx if what I can see in my online records is good enough for them. I'm SO MAD and very upset right now. Thank God I've got two pens in the fridge so I'll be O.K. until I get this sorted out. If it come to it I'll have to keep changing suppliers and stockpiling in case I'm forced to stop. FFS.
@Mincepieinthesky you're doing amazingly and I've found your posts really uplifting - please don't go!

I will answer this as if you genuinely don’t understand why but it’s Because there was no need to over analyse how many calories she’s eating etc.

She said ‘the trouble with calling people out is the thread stops being a safe and supportive place’ which indicated she wasn’t entirely happy with your first reply.

She told you in the same message she ate 1600-1800 calories a day and you then when on and replied ‘i don’t know how you do that level of exercise whilst under eating tk that extent.’

There was no need to make those kind of comments or over analyse what she’s eating/doing. It sounds like you are calling her a liar as She said she’s not under eating, she said she had rapid weight gain and she’s having a rapid weight loss.

Fizzleawayy · 05/12/2024 19:17

@recklessgran your GP sounds like they are being total asses!
I would send your prescriber your repeat prescription bit and the codes bit and see if they are happy with that.

Theres a bit on mine that says Consultations and events so I would send what’s under that as your record

BUT… I just checked mine and

*Note - pt is obtaining wt loss jab privately

  • Coded entry - Private prescription (XaIjL)
  • Problem - Private prescription (XaIjL)
  • Note - Started mounjaro

It’s on there so my prescriber has sent them a letter.

@Gilly1C - I too am planning to make my next pen my last pen so will be finishing my MJ part of the journey in January.
i want to make it work by myself too and
hope that I will be able to maintain the new habits I have. I’m also just over 8 weeks
and 21lbs down which is incredible for me. NSV has been the confidence I’ve regained. I was avoiding people in the supermarket and turning down invitations because I felt so bad about myself. Bumped into an old friend this week and found myself chatting to her without feeling horribly self conscious. Its the biggest win, not feeling pissed off with myself and disappointed. Hope everyone else
feels this too.

Love this!! I totally get you. I don't want to stay on this forever (I know someone posted they would) for me it's the massive kick start I needed and looking forward to the challenge ahead post MJ. Don't know how this will end up, but pretty damn sure I will give it my best shot with my new lifestyle changes

Fizzleawayy · 05/12/2024 19:32

Just found this letter on my records too…

So it seems The slimming clinic did not tell my GP but IQ doctor did each time Iv ordered a pen.

Only HRT on my medical records and I'm also on medexpress 🤷🏼‍♀️ that's very odd @recklessgran

WafflingDreamer · 05/12/2024 09:58

I've still got over 100lbs to lose so I'm here for a long while (my app says end of August if I keep losing 10-12lb a month!) I'm also on the 5st+ thread which is really inspiring as you can see people much further on and all these little 1lb, 2lb add up eventually.

I haven't been a healthy weight since my first hormone surge at 7/8. I'm honestly not sure I have any idea how to maintain a healthy weight when I get there. I've always been heavy so I've never enjoyed any kind of exercise. I'd like to take up running as one of my DDs has a fondness for food and a tendency to be drawn towards more sedentary hobbies, I'd love to be able to go jogging with her she's only just 9 so if I can get decent habits in her now hopefully she'll never be in this situation. I'm thinking about joining a gym but I've no idea what to do there. The same with exercise classes I'm worried about being the fat one in the back but I'm not sure that feeling will change

Edited

Ref gym, I was exactly the same. I took the plunge and joined a pretty big gym chain. I had no idea what to do, and, I know it's pricey but got a PT in there. I love my sessions with him each week and I now am learning what stuff to use for what

AnneinEdinburgh · 05/12/2024 20:09

IQ Dr has added all my height and weights to my GPs online app and all the prescriptions that have been administered. I like the idea that the GP has all the information incase something happens and so they can monitor if things are going wrong

Gilly1C · 05/12/2024 20:16

Anyone who wants a more light hearted moment I shall share my comments to my PT over the last 6 weeks to get out of the more challenging tasks he sets

  1. I think i have bern sick in my mouth
  2. I can taste blood
  3. Oh I think i can smell sweat from my pits
  4. You should be jailed
I keep going back though 😂
Gilly1C · 05/12/2024 20:20

It's spenny lol mine is £160 a month but, I have to say without it I would still be sat on my arse and walking my dogs daily. We have gym equipment at home. But left to my own devices I would not commit at home at all. I need that person making me do it, and although I give him shit i actually enjoy it. I do a session a week with him then 2 sessions on my own from what he taught me each week. I only planned on having him for 12 weeks to build up on what I need to do so I can go solo. I asked him if I was the worst client he had and he paused to answer lol

recklessgran · 05/12/2024 20:38

Oh crumbs, the very thought of a P.T. represents my worst nightmare - I shudder to think but Kudos to those of you doing it and paying for the privilege. I've heard it's energising - would love to kinow if that's true or not.

I think its the accountability I get from it to be fair as obvs I have no will power hence MJ in the first place lol and how much he teaches me on the different exercises. I like it purely due to the fact he does not take my excuses and knows how far he can push me. I hate it at the time but love it afterwards
