My pen's broken - help.

Hi everyone, my pen has broken and there's a final dose in there.

I have a memory of people mentioning they had bought needles and removed the liquid from thier pens using those - or have I lost my mind? I've search and not found anything.

If the above is accurate, can anyone tell me how it's done and what I need to order?

Yes you can buy 1ml insulin needles and use those to extract.

I get from amazon as 3 different pharmacies looked at me like an addict when I asked

Search for a 8mm 1ml 32G syringe like the link from any UK medical supplier to be sure they are medical grade syringes for human use (not amazon)

You use the syringe and take the dose out and then inject it straight in yourself.

obviously use alcohol wipes etc as you normally would.

Don't forget that he correct dose is 0.6ml.
There will probably be more than that in your pen.

I don't think your pen is broken, actually. You're not supposed to get the bonus dose out (but we all do!)

How is it broken? Is it that it won't turn again? . If that's the case that's normal.. you have to force it round, them once you force it it will just turn without any clicks.. but it still plunges down..

If its actually broken then yes use a syringe, I have just ordered some fir myself from ukmedi for just over 8 quid. I don't trust the amazon ones as they say measuring toll and lots of people said they were blunt.
Then just syringe the liquid from the red seal then inject into you.

It's not broken, it's worked as prescribed.

Not sure I understand this. It isn't pushing the liquid through the needle - not sure that's 'working as prescribed'.

Following this because I'll probably have to use the 'bonus dose' tomorrow!

Are you trying to get the 4th or 5th dose from the pen?

It's done the 4 doses as intended, so it wasn't broken. It has become broken in the attempt to do a 5th dose that the pen wasn't designed to do. Presuming that by "final dose" you mean the remaining medication after using the pen for the usual 4 doses, and not dose number 4.

You don't know what you are getting with the Amazon ones.

They are sold as "measuring tools" not medical grade syringes for human use, and many say "industrial grade Polyethylene" not medical grade. Many reviews say they find the needles are not as sharp.

They might be ok, or they might not.......anyone can sell "measuring tools" on Amazon, they can sell seconds, vet syringes anything.

For the sake of literally a couple of quid for 10 syringes, so only pennies per syringe, it is much safer to buy from a medical supplier who will buy from reliable known sources.
