I'm finally at the end of week 1 - am due to inject tomorrow - and this week has felt like a month! Not in terms of hunger - it's been amazing, but just in terms of new habits and thoughts about food - completely bonkers..!

I'm not weighing unless I have to for my next pen, which will be on Friday for me, but I feel 'different' and really good so far.

Today (W1D7) is probably the first time I've felt like snacking/indulging... maybe the suppression has worn off a bit? I've not overeaten though, which I'm proud of, although am having my first alcohol for a week (I cannot tell you how much of a difference that is for me...) and am having a couple of glasses of red wine!

So, will inject tomorrow and hopefully the suppression will be at full power again and I'll be all set for W2 😊

I have 8 stone to lose, which is probably what my Mum weighs 😮 I may have currently lost a couple of bags of sugar, or 1 x kitten...😃

I will be interested how you get on. I’m just a few days ahead of you and have 7 stone to lose just to get to the top of my normal BMI range. But I’m stunned at the shift in my thinking - I literally don’t think I’ve thought like this about food for years!

I got the reminder email today to order my next pen. If I feel like I do now, I’m mulling over sticking with 2.5mg as this is going to be a long journey for me and I’m not feeling I need to increase.

Wishing your kitten a cheery farewell!

@InfoSecInTheCity I feel your lovely dress pain. Many of my dresses I've made myself- so they are one offs and I'm very fond of them. It will be bittersweet not to be wearing them anymore.

I will make more dresses eventually though I am a slow sewist so it will take a while.

Urghhhh that means going to a real clothes shop though 😖 All the supermarkets round here have closed their fitting rooms so you have to buy and return. The only real clothes shops left on the highstreet or at the local retail park seem to be Primark/new look type places or sports shops and I just get irritated by the loud crap music and people slowly bumbling around or talking loudly at their phones while they narrate their every thought and move to the poor bugger on the other end having to listen to their inane ramblings.

I think I've become hugely intolerant of people over the last few years as I hit my 40s and after Covid.

could you buy your asda, try them on in Primark & then return any miss fits straight away?

My local shopping area sound like yours - Asda, Primark, TK Max

I'm so with you! I hate real shops and really resent having to go in them when I have to..! I've got a Yours near me though, which is good for nipping in and trying something on and I also have a Next not too far away, so I tend to order stuff online for in shop pick up, try them on straight away and return anything I don't like/doesn't fit there and then. I'm rubbish at returning stuff by post, so this seems to be the only way I can do it. They're pretty much the only 2 clothes shops I go to now.

gimmemounjaro · 20/01/2025 11:08

I am a recent convert to Vinted - no people, all the clothes from all the shops in your size in one place, prices low so less at stake and you can try out new ideas of yourself. And if something comes and is no good you just resell.

There are some terrific bargains on there too - I've had multiple jeans, jumpers, shirts for £5 or less, and I bought some Ganni trousers the other day for £36.50, brand new with their £195 price tag still attached 😅

BingoWingsOverScotland · 20/01/2025 11:10

The sizing on Vinted is ridiculous though, isn't a 12 what they describe as large?

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/01/2025 11:54

TK Maxx is good for things like leggings if you have one nearby.

gimmemounjaro · 20/01/2025 12:10

Yes they have a size guide, but people tend to post photos of the label as well as the garment so you can usually figure out whether it's really a large or a 12 (definitely not the same thing in my book). Pretty common to give measurements too, or you can ask for them.

Most people are really helpful and tell you how it actually is sized, so they might say "label says 16 but it's on the snug side, more like a 14 or even a baggy 12". Or they might post a picture of themselves wearing it.

I don't buy expensive things on there, the Ganni trousers were an exception. Love a bargain though. I've just bought two pairs of Levi's for DS's birthday, £24 in total and in his eyes the jeans look better for a bit of wear than when they're new. And a pair of Moshulu boots as a bday present to myself, £10. So about £300+ worth of stuff for about £40 including postage.

I have also sold a load of stuff over the last six months or so, which has given me a whole new wardrobe and a few quid in the bank. It does have its downsides but overall I think it's great.

Kay2000 · 20/01/2025 13:19

Do you worry if the bargains on Vinted are stolen or fake? Why would someone sell new £195 trousers for £36? I’ve had a few bags from there but they were obviously pre loved.

NewbieMJ · 20/01/2025 13:19

Just re-joining this thread, after a few weeks. Been keeping myself up to date though and congratulations to all of you reaching your weight loss goals, it is so inspiring. Thank you.

I am week 20, and finally got to 2 and a half stone mark today. I had a bit of a wobble over December and the Festivities set me back a bit. Ended up kicking myself out of keto and having a longer gap between injections (sounds a bit strange/self sabotage to do that, but it was the only way I could cope with the excess). Don't get me wrong, I didn't go mad, but I ate things I don't normally and drank more alcohol. No one in real life knows about MJ and no one will; as far as everyone sees I am on a healthy eating journey (and I am, and it is obvious).

So, I am grateful to have reached January and relieved to get back into the zone. Started swimming too, which I love, and have bought a membership for my local pools.

SW: 18 stone 11 (163 lbs). BMI: 43.8
CW: 16 stone 4 (228 lbs). BMI 37.9

I have a question for you lovely gurus. I opted for a 10mg pen this time around, but am feeling I should have stuck to 7.5mg. If I count 45 clicks, that will be 7.5mg. What happens when I have used 4 injections from my pen? Do I extract using the needles described in previous comments? I realise it will be over 30 days but I am willing to do that. I hate the idea of the cost and waste of discarding the excess from the 10mg pen (I am assuming there is 5 x 10mg = 50mg) in the pen, so could realistically get 6 doses @ 7.5mg from the pen if I decide to stick to 7.5. Can anyone advise? Thanks

NewbieMJ · 20/01/2025 13:29

*That should say SW: 263 (a bit of wishful thinking on my part there😂)

SilenceInside · 20/01/2025 13:29

@NewbieMJ

You can do 5 injections within the 30 days - day 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. If you have done 4 x 45 clicks, you should have 4 x 15 clicks still available, so 60 clicks which is full dose. So you should be able to do another 45 clicks without any issue for a 5th 7.5mg dose. After that, to do a 6th dose, you'd be looking at forcing the pen mechanism, or using separate needles to extract. And be 6 days over the 30 days use by guidance, as you mentioned.

NewbieMJ · 20/01/2025 13:34

@SilenceInside That is brilliant! Thanks so much for your reply. I will do exactly that.

Appreciated.

I don't think they would be stolen - a thief would be more likely to sell on without advertising online I think. They could be fake, but finding and buying some trousers similar enough to pass, then making and attaching convincing labels and tags would cost more than £36.50 anyway, so why bother. There is a whole designer section on Vinted with some seemingly amazing bargains but I would never buy say a Dior bag for thousands, because I bet half of those will be fake. Oh and I don't have the required thousands 😂

People don't pay anything like full price for new stuff with tags still attached, and people tend not to spend a lot on one item as far as I can see. I guess £50 would be a reasonable expectation but the stuff which is more overtly Ganni does better, these are just quite nondescript trousers by Ganni standards. (This suits me because I'm not sure I could pull off the C19th Danish milkmaid look.) They were on for £40 but might have started out higher, I don't know. It you're rich enough to buy your clothes there and they don't fit or you don't like them, you might just want rid I think.

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/01/2025 13:41

I'm wondering about going down a dose. I'm on 10mg but feel the same as I did on e.g. 5mg.

It would save me some money too. Anyone else gone down a dose or staying at e.g. 5mg?

RobinEllacotStrike · 20/01/2025 13:52

"I'm on 10mg but feel the same as I did on e.g. 5mg."

I thought that was the whole point of tirating up? We need more MJ as our body grows to tolerate it & as our tolerance grows we increase strengths to get that same feeling?

gimmemounjaro · 20/01/2025 13:52

I am on 15mg but plan to go down to 12.5mg or even 10mg because I don't feel good on it and I'm not eating all that well either.

I think I'll try 3 x 12.5 + 2 x 10 with my next pen. I need to start getting to grips with making good decisions with less help anyway, I am nearly 4 stone down and have 2 to go. Last jab of current pen tomorrow and I'm going to do 12.5mg I think.

I've stayed on 7.5mg for 18 weeks now, I've never gone higher than that. I'm currently planning on getting 7.5mg for my next pen unless things change a lot in the next week or so.

Sounds like the right thing to do to drop down a dose if you are not tolerating it well and let yourself settle back into 12.5mg and see how it goes.

I would give a good few weeks on 12.5mg, to see how it goes, the first couple of weeks you won't be back to 12.5mg levels yet, the same as taking a dose takes 4 weeks to build up and level off, reducing takes 2-3 weeks to drop down and level off. I wouldn't want to drop back to 10mg until I find out if the 12.5mg level is still working well.

You could try the GLP1 plotter website to see how the levels drop as you reduce.

Re: Vinted - there is now a verification service for designer brands, so a bit of a fail safe, but I am usually one for getting cheaper items or more high street stuff there.

if you want higher end, vestiaire is good.

vinted has been great for offloading too big things - plus size does extremely well, and then smaller sizes less so, which means more bargains haha!

MJ wise, I did 8mg this time, and I used a second needle for the extra clicks and it was only 4! Not convinced I actually injected it, it was so little 😂 given I used two needle heads, I should have divided the clicks into two evenly (so rather 60+4, 32+32) so it felt less sketchy about whether the extra .5mg went in me at all!

I do feel more suppressed this morning than the last couple of weeks though, but can’t tell if its just be feeling a better mood this week and more overall jovial haha.

here’s to a good week!!

Another option for the extra clicks is to not remove the needle between doses. I get an injection site reaction, so want to avoid 2 if possible.

I inject in my stomach so it is easy for me to have the window where I can see I've reached from 1 to 0, then turn for the extra few clicks and depress the plunger again.

(If the needle slipped out, I would obviously change it for a fresh one.)

Darlinghag · 20/01/2025 16:13

@Swissrollover oh thats a good idea, thanks! I wouldnt think to leave it inside me while adjusting the clicks. Luckily, i have a millions needleheads and i dont typically bruise badly so not the end of the world!
