Started on 6mg dose and started with sulfur burps and nausea. Any hints?!

WafflingDreamer · 07/01/2025 13:38

Kay2000 · 07/01/2025 09:43

@WafflingDreamer well done for getting back on track. I keep seeing that it seems easier to do that now whereas, if you’re like me, at WW or SW previously a 3lb gain would have derailed me. Well I wouldn’t have gained only 3lb over Christmas, one Christmas when I was doing WW about 18 years ago, I was smugly thinking I’d probably gained only a couple of lbs, as I’d been “good” over the 3 weeks it was shut. I gained 10lbs!! The leader said that was a record for her 🥴

I would have normally gained much more than 3lb and kept the holiday eating going through most of January. I realised this morning that I opened a bar of fruit and nut for a movie night with the kids at the start of their holidays and still have some in the fridge. Previously I would have eaten all of mine and theirs and anything else I could find. I definitely found the more rubbish UPF I ate the more I craved it.

I weighed at the doctors this moring.

CW 101.4kg which google tells me is a tiny smidge below 16 stone.

Total of 22.6kgs/3.5 stone lost since end of July which I am so pleased with.

"GW" to reach top of my recommended BMI window is about 74kilos, so another 27.4 kilos to lose, subject to review enroute.

So far I have avoided any calorie counting - I have been prioritising eating protein/veg/fruit/nuts. But as things slow down a bit I think it might be a good idea to track food intake for a while. I am concerned/cautious about doing this as I'm worried about setting off any "diet mentality" - which I find all consuming, draining & ultimately ruinious to both my mental state and weightloss. I will give it a go & proceed cautiously.

I am travelling to visit my family in April (not been to my home country/seen family etc since early 2019), and my interim goal is to be around 90kg for that trip - just over 3kg a month to lose. Those long haul flights will be a blast with a smaller bum.

I've just ordered my 3rd 7.5mg pen.

I just had a look on MFP (which I am using for some gentle food logging for a while). The last time I was anywhere near my current weight was in 2012!!!
This was when I did quite well calorie tracking and lost some weight after the birth of my 2nd child.

The last time I was below 100kg was also in 2012 during this same weighloss episode.

I really can't wait to be below 100kg and never go above it again!!!

hellohellooo · 07/01/2025 15:11

@RobinEllacotStrike amazing!!!!
Love hearing all the success stories 🙌🙌🙌🙌

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/01/2025 15:28

I like seeing other peoples before/after/progress pics - unfortunately my habit of automatically erasing awful pics means I don't have very good "before" pics to hand.

But the 2 photos in dresses were at taken last summer, just pre MJ at around 124kg, and the pic in the stripy yoga pants was this week 102kg (do me a favour & ignore my daughters filthy mirror).

@RobinEllacotStrike that's an amazing difference, I can't quite believe you have another 25kg or so to lose. Thank you for sharing your progress pics!

hellohellooo · 07/01/2025 17:18

@RobinEllacotStrike super results

Well done

We are bloody amazing for how far we have come

Arglefraster · 07/01/2025 18:17

Wow @RobinEllacotStrike you look fantastic in both but the change is amazing, that's so inspiring thank you for sharing!
(& I love your boots!)

Timetofindme · 07/01/2025 18:35

@MooBaggage I've had to provide an updated weight with each new pen ordered. Interestingly I've started weighing daily with none of the stress I had before. There have been days where I've put on 3lbs overnight and realistically I know it's not possible, it's helped me work out certain foods that cause my body to react that way. Obviously stay away from it if it's definitely not for you but I think you'll have to weight for new pens (I've only ordered through medexpress so might be different for other providers)

Darlinghag · 07/01/2025 19:19

@RobinEllacotStrike you look amazing!! Its really showing!!

QueenOfHiraeth · 07/01/2025 19:40

@RobinEllacotStrike Do you mind me asking how tall you are? I'm just trying to compare myself to you as I really struggle to visualise my own size

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/01/2025 20:42

Awe thank you all for your lovely comments. 💜

I really wish I had before pics in leggings too. It's a bit like comparing apples & pears with the dress pics. I've lost lots off back, stomach, chest, thighs & bum. All over really.

I'm 5'8" (and a half some days).

And the boots are Blundstones and I swear I could walk around the world in them.

RobinEllacotStrike · 07/01/2025 20:53

NSV I am currently wearing a pair of camo cargo pants I wore to a very muddy Glastonbury in 1997 (maybe 96).

I've not worn them for over 20 years. For many of those years I had no chance of doing them up. Somehow I held onto them & they survived many declutters.

So glad I kept them. They are so well made (possibly army surplus) and I love wearing them. They will go well with my Blundstones.

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 08/01/2025 10:24

Can I join please? Been on the late September group but still have a long way to go. End of week 14 coming up and about to have bonus dose of 7.5. Have ordered another 7.5 as feel it's still working well.

SW 18.7st
CW 15.5st
GW around 12 stone for now I'm thinking

Seems a bit bad / long way away, but over 3 stone so far with, famous last words, not too many side effects, so taking it one stone at a time and think 12st finally moves me into only overweight :( Have had to buy new jeans as literally falling down and now really need new bras too!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/01/2025 11:56

Just checking in. Well done to everyone. I am about half way now and I’ve built up enough of a stash of pens to get me pretty much to my goal. I am still on around 5.6mg after 6 months and losing weight.

I’ve ordered a veg box and I am spending Jan overhauling the family’s eating to make it much cleaner (or as clean as you’ll ever get with teenager / uni student DC 🤣🤣)

MooBaggage · 08/01/2025 13:25

I've bitten the bullet and ordered some weighing scales, as I need to get over my fear of failure re: a lifetime of weigh ins at WW/SW!

My prescription was approved on Monday but hasn't been dispatched yet - I'm away for the day on Saturday, so am really hoping it doesn't get delivered then.... I'm trying to prepare mentally by drinking more water and not eating as much crap!

alwaysscared · 08/01/2025 18:09

I still inject into my thigh, as I'm scared of side effects if I try the stomach. My issue is that when I inject my right thigh, it doesn't seem to have the same effect as my left thigh, I feel a lot more hungry on the right thigh weeks. Do I have to alternate? Or can I just do left? Does anyone know?
Or should I just suck it up and do my stomach??

SilenceInside · 08/01/2025 18:16

I've always injected into my stomach. I've had a couple of instances of side effects but it can't be to do with injection site as it's always the same.

You don't have to alternate I don't think, just don't inject into the same area each time.

Darlinghag · 08/01/2025 19:44

i’ve only ever done stomach - am someone with virtually no side effects. Feeling cold is pretty much my only one now. I have been on the same dose for 3 months though so that could be why.

When you feel you have come to the end do you plan on using MJ for maintenance?

Would love to know what others think?

I'm so confused

Going into week 18 now

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/01/2025 20:06

@hellohellooo my current plan is to taper off very slowly and see how I am managing. I am hoping that I will have made enough diet and exercise changes to allow me to maintain my weight. I am also working with a therapist to address the emotional aspects.

WeAllHaveWings · 08/01/2025 20:07

@hellohellooo I'm keeping an open mind for now. On week 28 and still on 3.75mg, no idea what dose I will be on when I hit target.

From reading posts there seems to be lots of ways people are approaching maintenance.

  1. going it alone without MJ - engaging new habits and willpower

  2. staying on current/best dose and increasing calories

  3. tapering down and increasing calories then 1) 2) or 4)

  4. doing one month one/on month off

  5. sounds like an eventual end plan, as cant imagine me doing this when I'm in my 60s/70s!

  6. if I go up doses sounds sensible

  7. sounds the most do-able to me and also cost effective

But, I'll keep reading about other's experiences and not worry about it until nearer the time.

Timetofindme · 08/01/2025 20:17

First time for me the hard twist hasn't worked (5mg pen). So I've just done my first one using insulin syringes. I'm really surprised how nervous I was, my hands are still shaking but I managed it! Just need to distract my brain which is now trying to convince me I've done something wrong and am going to get all sorts of issues - despite the needle being no longer than the ones supplied with the pens. The joy of overthinking 😂

It was weigh day for me and a big loss this week (3.4lbs!) which balances out last week's 0.2lb loss a bit! I always weigh in pounds as it has fewer negative associations for me, and I checked my BMI this morning so had to translate it to stone and was quite shocked. I've not been this weight since 2018 I think! Honestly over the moon it was such a boost!

WeAllHaveWings · 08/01/2025 20:27

@Timetofindme My first syringe (5th pen) was last week too after hardtwist failed and after 6 months of worrying about it it was pretty straightforward. But I know the feeling of thinking I did something wrong. With a small syringe and without the sensation of a big chunky pen it felt like I hadn't injected at all, but the liquid was gone so must have!

Thankfully after the Christmas break, bad habits creeping in and the temptations of Christmas treats, now back to work and routines and the suppression has kicked back in this week.
