On the downside the nausea is still here sometimes - especially the day or two after injecting. I live on ginger shots from the coop for two days ๐Ÿ˜‚. I've got pen two, I'm staying on 2.5mg for the min as it's working so well.

lapuf · 22/11/2024 07:10

I got my engagement ring back on too, I'd had to take it off as too puffy.
After a STS on weigh day (Monday), I then had 3.4lbs off in four days Grin which must be some kind of set point adjustment! I need to reread why we eat too much for all the science stuff, I've been broadly following his eating principles.
Hopefully will be back in my size 12 jeans by Xmas, I refused to buy new ones.

Checking in the day before 6th injection.

I can see thereโ€™s been some more slow losers joining this thread, and Iโ€™m definitely one of them. Iโ€™ve had lots of suppression, and felt like my food intake was way less than normal, but wasnโ€™t seeing much shift in my weight which was confusing. But I suppose I canโ€™t have been in a deficit, no matter what I was feeling ๐Ÿ˜†.

i had a chat with my prescriber at the end of week 4 and discussed this. He said that average loss in the 4 weeks of 2.5lb is 4-6lb and to keep on. Iโ€™d lost 4lb by the end of week 4. Iโ€™ve now done a week on 5mg, and my total weight loss is 5.8lb.

Although itโ€™s hard not to compare to some of the staggering losses on here, 5.8lb loss is the most Iโ€™ve seen in years, since perimenopause. Iโ€™ve come to MJ as a last resort, after trying almost everything else for the last 5 years. And with MJ, for me, it feels like what was impossible 6 weeks ago, is really achievable. Slow, but achievable. And if I was losing this weight without MJ, Iโ€™d be absolutely thrilled with 5.8lb down, so Iโ€™m pledging not to keep comparing myself unfavourably to the incredible losses some of you are experiencing, and focusing on my own path, which appears to be slow and steady!

SW: 14st 13.2lb
CW: 14st 7.4lb
total after 5 weeks: 5.8lb

recklessgran · 22/11/2024 10:11

@lickycat I'm with you in the slow losers club but I really don't care. I've struggled so much in the past with stupidly low calorie diets and barely no loss that I'm actually thrilled with my half stone. Let's just keep going and as you say, focus on our own paths. I've largely been on less than 1000 calories to achieve what I have so imagine my metabolism must be having a party with yours in the basement!

rockingbird · 22/11/2024 10:16

@lickycat any loss is a loss, slow and steady weight loss is far better than not losing anything at all. Well done for keeping your focus and keep going ๐Ÿ’ช

Bellablahhole · 22/11/2024 10:24

@lickycat I totally agree. "Comparison is the thief of joy".

After having bigger initial losses (I'd just returned from an AI holiday and also has a lot of inflammation, so think it was a lot of water weight that I lost), I've been following the slow and steady route too. Any loss is a bonus for me as after menopause I've been gaining weight year on year. I lost weight easily when I was younger but it's been impossible to achieve sustained weight loss as I got older. MJ really has been a game changer for me and I'm grateful for every ounce I lose.

You've done great so far - congratulations!

lapuf · 22/11/2024 10:32

I did a cost benefit analysis of my weightloss Blush ยฃ11.17 per lb for my first pen! Grin and still have three days to go. Excellent value I think!

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 11:05

Well now I'm in a pickle! Tried the bonus dose thing and don't know if it worked!!

whats left in the pen?

letshavetea · 22/11/2024 11:39

@recklessgran, @Bellablahhole and @lickycat - Iโ€™m a slow loser too. Iโ€™m older and have hypothyroidism. Canโ€™t seem to lose wieight as it goes straight back on. Currently on holiday (have done 8th 2.5mg injection). Have lost 5lbs so far. Or I had before coming on holiday. Going to try to resist the scales for a few days when I get home next week! Meanwhile suppression seems to be increasing as Iโ€™ve only been able to finish half a meal! Had awful burps and indigestion yesterday, which has now settled (sorry if tmi!). Iโ€™m

JulesK17 · 22/11/2024 13:30

I will be taking my eighth injection tomorrow. Last 3 injections have been 3.75 as was too nervous to go to 5mg. This week I have been snacking more, but still have a couple of nauseous days and I think if I go to 5mg it will make it worse? Plus travelling back in the car from France on Wed and would hate to feel sick ๐Ÿคข

Iโ€™m not sure if Iโ€™m the only one, but I felt more suppression when I first started on 2.5mg, havenโ€™t felt a change since increasing, in fact less? Weight has slowed down, but have lost about 9.2% so far, weigh day tomorrow. I donโ€™t feel as thirsty as I did either, so really have to remember to drink lots of water during the day, I would say I drink half of what I did in the first 4 weeks.
My nemesis is chocolate and I have had the urge to eat and did eat some this week.
I suppose we need to think about willpower more for when we wean ourselves off MJ, the food noise is less but my cravings have increased a little.

I'm in the same boat but on injection 8 on Monday. I had a really tough week on week 3 with my food noise back with a vengeance I'm not quite at that scale but I am thinking about snacks and wanting to take food of the kids plates more ect. I think I'm going to go up to 5mg on Monday.
So far I've done
3x2.5mg
4x3.75mg

I was hoping to stay on 3.75mg for much longer as I had nearly 9 stone to lose but hopefully 5mg will work for longer for me as I still have 110lbs to lose!

You still have the bonus dose left..

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:01

Ah well that was after I forced it and the dial rotated round to nearly 1. But it got stuck halfway when I tried to depress the purple button and I couldn't tell if anything was actually going in (as the needle was in my skin).
So, dilemma: do I take the newly-arrived 5mg dose? Or wait a few days to be on the safe side?

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:02

I could depress the spiral thingy a bit and it rotated back into the body of the oen. But there's still this liquid...

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:03

Or, can I just take 2.5mg of the new 5 pen?

morbidcuriosity · 22/11/2024 15:17

When it gets stuck half way, then when you need to force it round.. I think you may have put just a tiny amount of liquid in you, if any . Can you force it back round to 1 now? Think once the mechanism has broken it will plunge the rest of the liquid. It's quite a force to twist it but then it will free twist, not click..

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:25

I don't know. I'm reluctant to pursue it really. Would rather start the new own but am a bit worried about overdosing.

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:26

But then, if that liquid is still in the pen then it can't be inside me?!

ChimneyRock · 22/11/2024 15:28

This is how far the plunger went in though. But it doesn't appear to have flowed through with any liquid emerging.

@Fizzleaway1

Did you put the needle on it properly?

The other day I didnโ€™t push down on the needle far enough when I did it and it wouldnโ€™t plunge all the way.

alternatively use a insulin needle to get it out

Are you sure it wasnโ€™t partially driven by your mind? You were so keen and so driven that without knowing it, you boosted your own levels of suppression and went at it. Telling yourself you were suppressed and not hungry, And now the novelty has worn off, and itโ€™s becoming normal, then Youโ€™re starting to realise the reality? That it was in part psychosomatic?

anything below five isnโ€™t even therapeutic. So,going to 3,75 is giving you very little difference to 2.5, and your mind and body is now used to it. The normal mental health reaction after a few weeks of dieting, Iโ€™m bored and want chocolate. Because you donโ€™t take enough of the drug to help you in reality.

it depends on you. Is this just a small tool and deep down youโ€™ve enough willpower as long as you feel something is helping you. No matter how minor, or do you actually need the help.
