I had my first 5mg jab this week and have struggled. I'm going to go with 3.75mg again next week. I've simply not been able to eat this week - all I've managed today is one pot of yoghurt and a load of water!

IlovetoKnitandRead · 20/11/2024 21:47

Well I am bowing out. I am hating the side effects! I am struggling with constant indigestion requiring so much Gaviscon, bloating, constipation, nausea. I hate the feeling of sudden fullness when you are in the middle of eating even a small meal. I have had 2 weeks of 5mg and dread the idea of any more. I have lost about almost a stone (weight stagnant this week due to severe constipation) in 6 weeks, but this is not the way for me. I am only 5ft tall so will go back to Michael Moseley's Fast 800 and high fat/low carb. Good luck to you all but for me I can't wait for the drug to be out of my system and feel like me again.

PolaDeVeboise · 20/11/2024 21:55

@IlovetoKnitandRead - you could be me, I'm going through all of that, and don't feel 'myself', but I'm not sure I'm ready to stop..

TheChosenTwo · 20/11/2024 22:06

Iโ€™m happy and keeping on going, 11lbs down in 3 weeks with PCOS and have found it nigh on impossible to control cravings for sugar and getting trapped in a cycle.
Approaching the 4 week mark and jumped the gun and took some progress photos and was really disappointed at seeing no visible changes!
Went for dinner this evening and made a really sensible choice that I enjoyed but couldnโ€™t finish, no pudding and we also had a nice walk after dinner.
My appetite is suppressed enough that Iโ€™m not thinking about food constantly but not too much that Iโ€™m not enjoying my meals, Iโ€™m at a good point and am not going to let the disappointing photos get to me, theyโ€™re a part of the journey.

ChimneyRock · 20/11/2024 22:27

I'm feeling fed up. I'm on week four and due to try the bonus 2.5mg dose on Friday. Have the 5mg one on order for next week.
But weight loss has stalled a bit and whereas previously I felt great in terms of energy, as well as "lighter" with looser clothes, I now feel sluggish and fat again. I have to assume it's because of the constipation.
I take a spoonful of Dulcolax every few days but can't tonight as I'm working tomorrow. I'm a teacher so can't risk needing the loo in a hurry.
I'm really not eating much at all so why isn't it showing? I MUST be losing but not according to the scales.
Any words of cheer?

Hey all, week 3 on 5mg, 20lb down from starting this journey, age 55 post menopause and tried every diet there is for the last 20 years. I wanted to ask everyone a question? Being really honest here, has anyone thought about life after MJ, we obviously can't be on it for the rest of our lives, so how does everyone feel when it comes the time to stop, as honestly I don't know what that future looks like. (sorry for the down post but really interested in everyone's thoughts)

I keep telling myself that I am going to be on a full dose of MJ for a long time (I have a minimum of 7 stone to lose) so hopefully my habits will have changed somewhat, I can maintain easily enough, I just canโ€™t lose without it. But as long as I can afford it Iโ€™ll continue to use it.

ItsMintUpNorth · 21/11/2024 06:33

Well I've had the best birthday present this morning...I am finally a stone off!

Honestly try to not be so focused on the scales. The weight will come off. The truth is we are all fat. Thatโ€™s why we are taking the drug, and no one stops being fat after four weeks on the starting dose. If the scales not moving has you feeling down, then try not to weigh, just do it bi weekly or monthly as the weight will come off. Youโ€™re also still on the initiate treatment phase, once you start moving up the doses you will see a difference. Reconsider if you really want a fifth week at 2.5,

its easy to be scale focused, but you need to focus on making sure you eat healthy, and eat enough, within a calorie limit and ensure you get enough exercise, this is not a quick fix, but a long road for most people. So be patient, focus on being healthy, stop weighing so much if you struggle emotionally with it, and trust the process.

if you struggle with constipation, I take a psylum husk with a probiotic built in each morning, get them from Amazon, take and with a litre of water, before my morning coffee, you need a big glass of water with it to ensure it keeps you regular, as without it can bung you up. Iโ€™ve never had a problem with constipation or had the runs. . I also eat (dried) a few prunes and a couple of figs for breakfast each day,

weight loss isnโ€™t linear. It doesnโ€™t come off equally each week. Last week I lost four pounds, this week half a pound, itโ€™s fine. Some weeks you will lose nothing, other times there will be a big whoosh. Move up the doses, and just continue on your journey, in 6 months you will look and feel like a different person. But doing it healthy , eating enough calories, enough Protein so you donโ€™t lose muscle, is key, not eating enough and not the right foods will see you struggle in many different ways,

donโ€™t worry, and donโ€™t let the scales dictate your mood. ๐Ÿ’

@ItsMintUpNorth Happy birthday and congratulations!

HansHolbein · 21/11/2024 08:48

@ItsMintUpNorth Wishing you a very happy birthday ๐Ÿฅณ Congratulations on your first stone, really happy for you.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 21/11/2024 08:58

@ItsMintUpNorth yay! Best birthday present ever

Tohaveandtohold · 21/11/2024 09:23

@ItsMintUpNorth happy birthday to you and yay for the loss of a stone.
@IlovetoKnitandRead , sorry youโ€™re finding it hard and the MJ is not working for you. At least youโ€™ll know you tried it. Good luck with the fast 800, Iโ€™ve never done it before but sounds like you know what to do.
@Gilly1C I canโ€™t be on it forever really because itโ€™s expensive and I wonโ€™t be able to keep justifying the cost when Iโ€™m at a healthy weight. However Iโ€™ve made lots of changes that Iโ€™m confident Iโ€™ll continue with. And not having any more children which is how I got here in the first place. Iโ€™m not thinking that far ahead now anyway because Iโ€™m just taking it one day at a time.

Pegsmum · 21/11/2024 09:52

@IlovetoKnitandRead @PolaDeVeboise Me too, having a bit of a wobble about it.

Bellablahhole · 21/11/2024 10:55

Sorry to read that a few of you are struggling at the moment. I hope you find a way through.

I've been very lucky in having a positive experience with minimal side effects so far and I'm grateful for that. I'm eating 3 meals a day and finding it easier than I thought possible to make healthy food choices (even when my appetite supression is low).

Week 7 weigh in and a 1lb loss this week:
SW 14:4.8 (BMI 30.6)
CW 13:1.0 (BMI 27.8)
Total loss 1st 3.8lb
GW 10st?

Fingers crossed I'll be in the 12 stone bracket soon.

Mincepieinthesky · 21/11/2024 11:29

End of week 5 for me and Iโ€™ve now lost 2 stone, canโ€™t quite believe it.
Absolutely freezing especially hands and feet but lucky thatโ€™s my only complaint so far.

HansHolbein · 21/11/2024 11:51

@Mincepieinthesky Amazing! You must be overjoyed! Have you noticed any change in your clothes yet? I am also freezing ๐Ÿฅถ

Mincepieinthesky · 21/11/2024 12:29

@HansHolbein yes my clothes are noticeably loose now. I need to lose at least another 3 stone so donโ€™t want to buy loads now and then theyโ€™re too big too (hopefully!!). Think Iโ€™ll get a few bits in Black Friday sales to keep me going, can be my celebration in place of takeaways ๐Ÿคญ

Iโ€™m freezing too. Well done everyone on your weight loss.

SmartyPops · 21/11/2024 13:56

Hi all quick question, does moving to 5mg dose increase the amount of weight lost per week, or does it maintain losses around what we lost weeks 1-4? In other word, if you were losing say, 2lbs per week on 2.5mg, youโ€™d lose 4lbs per week on the 5mg? Thanks all.

HansHolbein · 21/11/2024 14:02

@SmartyPops Here are my losses in lbs. I donโ€™t know kg.

2.5mg
-6.5
-4.7
-3
-1.4

5mg
-3.6

Did second 5mg on Monday. Checked this morning and Iโ€™m 2lbs down.

Everyone is different of course but thatโ€™s me.

I'm pretty sure that's not how Mounjaro works, otherwise you'd be losing like 30lb a week on 15mg. The amount of weight you lose is mainly to do with how many calories per day you are below you TDEE. The higher the dose the more appetite suppression and the less food noise. There are some nice graphs to see how the dose builds up in your system with different strengths https://glp1plotter.com/
