Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

@FinallyOnTheUp I wasn't aware of the effects on ADHD so would be really interested in how you get on

FinallyOnTheUp · 01/11/2024 15:42

@LePetitMaman Fingers crossed I'll have some good things to report!

BrownJenkins · 01/11/2024 15:44

Little update.
I'm no longer constipated, thanks to the power of Ducolax.
I have absolutely no appetite. Had to force myself to eat a packet of crisps, couldn't face anything else. I have no interest in eating at all, a first for me.

Haha. Dulcolax saved me too.. had fibrol drinks, senna tablets, did nothing.. tried a dolculax and yep, found my cure.. I know what to have now if I get constipated again..

Just did my first ever jab!

someoneanyoneeveryone · 01/11/2024 18:20

Hi everyone- hope I can join too! Just did my first jab this evening (I did have a massive last meal so maybe didn’t think that one through properly oops) fingers crossed for positive results and hopefully some visible weight loss by Christmas!

WeldMeDaphne · 01/11/2024 20:34

I have done jab one. I honestly thought everyone was exaggerating when they said that they couldn't feel it going in. But that was literally painless, I'm so surprised (mostly because I'm a big fat wimp hahah!). Spreadsheet updated lol 🤓

JustManna · 01/11/2024 20:46

Hi! I’m about to start Mounjaro. Waiting for pen to arrive, hopefully tomorrow! Would be good to hear how others starting this journey are getting on :)

LePetitMaman · 01/11/2024 20:46

So is it over eating whilst on the jabs that causes the nausea?

MissingDietCoke · 01/11/2024 20:55

So first full day for me after jabbing yesterday evening. I definitely haven't eaten as much as I usually would, but appreciate that's also because I'm really aware that this med has to come with a lifestyle change as well to have a long lasting change so not sure how much is the jab and how much is my mind iykwim. I've been conscious of protein and had yoghurt with fruit and seeds and a Caesar salad with a roasted chicken breast. Normally I'd be ravenous about an hour after eating a salad and im still ok now, so perhaps it is doing something? Bit of a headache today but nothing to write home about, could be a coincidence.

ProudCoralBear · 01/11/2024 21:09

WeldMeDaphne · 01/11/2024 21:57

Well done @ProudCoralBear!
I’m curious to see how quickly I start to see effects so interesting that @MissingDietCoke you've seen them so fast

I'm honestly not sure if it's a mind over matter thing @WeldMeDaphne given it's so early and obviously the starter dose. But then I reckon even if it is then that's no bad thing either eh?!

HappyPoster · 01/11/2024 22:40

Hi to the new joiners. Really glad we have this community to share our experiences.

I'm on W1 D2 and so far have had no adverse side effects other than burping a lot (yuck). Haven't really felt any different however tonight I was out with Family and friends and there were biscuits, cakes, Halloween sweets and gin doing the rounds. I wasn't even tempted by the food and only had the 1 gin (unheard of!) which I didn't guzzle as much as I usually would.

I've also felt more focused at work and have been sleeping better....might be a coincidence or my new found motivation. Has anyone else experienced this?

Arglefraster · 01/11/2024 23:20

Aaaand first jab done. Only just made the 1st 😂

LauraB74 · 02/11/2024 07:33

First full day done. Went for a long walk then met my friend for a coffee. I had an Americano with skimmed milk rather than my usual skinny latte and didn't order any food despite the most amazing looking food. Watched my friend scoff her food and didn't even feel tempted.

Egg, tomatoes and Wholemeal toast for lunch even though I didn't feel that hungry. Then chicken skewers and veg rice for tea but I had to force that down. Looked at my calories for the day and as they so low I made myself eat some Greek Yoghurt with fruit, a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of granola. Have avoided my usual coke zero and stuck to water.

Terrible nights sleep but I often find it hard to sleep.

So I'd say the food noise was definitely not so bad and haven't felt ravenous.

Jellybaby30 · 02/11/2024 07:42

First jab yest evening, so glad to have started and interested to see how the weekend pans out for us all

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 02/11/2024 08:14

W2D1, 6lbs lost in the first week, am delighted but realise this will mainly be water weight. Felt hungrier yesterday but practiced willpower and managed to stay within deficit. Only side effect so far was minor headache, no side effects since 2nd jab last night so hoping that continues. Intend upping the exercise a bit this week as really didn’t do too much last week. Good to read about everyone else’s progress and good luck to those just starting out.

bananasplice · 02/11/2024 09:25

Just done my second injection.

Sw 93.6kg
Cw 91.3kg

Really pleased with a loss of 2.3 kg which is about 5 lbs.

Did my food shop yesterday and feel I have planned better for the week, Normally throw in loads of treats but didn't even look at them.
Back to work on Monday which will be interesting, normally I put on loads at half term so it is a pleasant change.

NcDesperatelySeekingWeightLoss · 02/11/2024 09:38

Hi all, erring more and more on the side of starting this. Has anyone had this prescribed by their GP? Or can you only buy it online and if so can anyone recommend a reputable and cheaper source?

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 02/11/2024 09:48

Mine’s dispatched! Can’t wait to get started next week!

StaySpicy · 02/11/2024 09:52

Right, I've just done my first injection!

My Story: I was on Wegovy April - September. I lost 16lbs, which was great, but a very small amount by comparison to others which was a little disheartening (roughly 1lb a week). I was also getting much less appetite suppression even on higher doses, so I stopped and requested Mounjaro from my supplier instead (Asda). I had to wait 5 weeks but have now started and hoping for further weight loss! Those Mounjaro needles, though...! You have to push the liquid out! On Wegovy you just hold it in and it turns automatically 🙈

My takeaways from being on Wegovy:

  • any weight loss is a good weight loss! Losing slowly may mean it's easier to keep off when you stop the injections.
  • don't have a specific weight/time goal, eg. I want to lose 2st by Christmas. Instead, just hope to be lighter by then and celebrate your loss regardless of what it is.
  • drink water
  • keep a bottle of Gaviscon nearby - I had bad heartburn!
  • eat lots of protein

Anyway, I'll be interested to see how the Mounjaro journey goes for me! My aim is to eventually lose 2st on top of what I've already lost. I'm also following the Fast800 with a shake for breakfast and lunch then a lovely evening meal.

NcDesperatelySeekingWeightLoss · 02/11/2024 09:55

I have another question, do you have to keep the injections in the fridge? (I'm guessing when one dose is open?). I need to hide it from my family.

Great news on that weight loss!
How are you feeling, any side effects?

BrownJenkins · 02/11/2024 10:03

@NcDesperatelySeekingWeightLoss I was told if you have blood sugar readings over 7 and other diabetes medication isn't working, the GP can prescribe. I have a friend who is being prescribed by the GP.
As for the cost, go on one of the comparison sites. I don't think there's a really cheap supplier, not if they're reputable.
At the moment I'm paying the equivalent of £3.76 a day. I was probably paying that, and more, on chocolate, biscuits etc.
Good luck with whatever you decide 🙂
