Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Oh boy, did I feel sick last night. Woke up feeling a bit sick too, serves me right.
Keep looking at what's left of the tin of Roses chocolates, won't be touching them today.
@smarty4 I haven't bothered with supplements. I'm eating a balanced diet with extra fruit and veg.
@PostpartumMama I inject in the morning, it suits me better.

I was so keen to do my 2nd injection as I felt the effects of the 1st one had definitely worn off, resulting in my attack on a tin of Roses.
Apart from constipation, which is still bothersome, I'm feeling fine.

Good luck everyone, we can do this.

Do you think it was the roses?

I think I've persuaded myself that eating anything too high in sugar will leave me feeling rubbish so haven't tried. I haven't been bothered either, but if you'd put a tin of roses in front of me last night, I definitely would have had a few!

HappyPoster · 31/10/2024 13:35

First jab last night at about 8.30pm. Feeling completely normal so far.

@WeakAsIAm @smarty4 I've been taking probiotics and have bought electrolytes to pop in my water to help with hydration. Will definitely look at getting some collagen supplements too!

I'm planning to (kind of) follow the slimming world plan but calorie count it, I find their concepts of healthy extras really useful for managing bread and milk/cheese portions x

BrownJenkins · 31/10/2024 13:57

@Kialla Definitely the Roses 😒

Rosie2024 · 31/10/2024 14:22

First jab Monday evening. Feeling ok, v little appetite and am feeling the cold a lot more!

2catsand2kids · 31/10/2024 14:55

Hello all, I'd love to join you all. I've just ordered my first pen through MedExpress after doing lots and lots of reading about Mounjaro and debating whether this is the right course of action or not. I'm now just waiting for them to approve the prescription and then for it to be sent. Now I've made the decision I'm really keen to get started!

My weight has steadily increased over the last 14 years (since having children) and I'm now the heaviest I've ever been and as I get older it is getting harder and harder to loose any weight and easier and easier to gain it. My meals are generally very healthy and good size portions, but I'm a terrible snacker, particularly with cakes and chocolate, and I'm hoping the Mounjaro will reduce the urge to snack.

Starting weight: 15 stone 8 lbs
Goal weight: 12 stone 7 lbs

So just over 3 stone to go!

PostpartumMama · 31/10/2024 14:56

@BrownJenkins I took my dose an hour ago.. could feel it hit me right away & now I want to sleep. Funny how it affects us all in different ways. Oh I could have ate alooooad of chocolate last night but pushed pass the urge. Hope you're feeling ok now

Sketcho · 31/10/2024 15:24

W2 D2 here. I feel completely different to the first week.

Felt awesome last week, this week I feel a bit hungry, a bit sick, very tired. The food noise is reduced, but present. Feel like harder work basically.

I'd read various accounts about injecting into stomach increasing nausea - I injected my thigh last week and stomach yesterday. It's probably total coincidence, but I'll go back to my thigh next week.

I was on such a high last week (equally to do with the amazing effect on my ADHD tbh), so I'm feeling very slightly low by comparision, but it's all part of the long journey!

LePetitMaman · 31/10/2024 17:19

How do you apply on Voy please? What evidence do they ask for?

namechangedyetagain · 31/10/2024 17:19

Have just been approved for a prescription and my order is on its way so I'd love to join?

Having wibbles about taking it but I'm at my heaviest and most unhappy ever and something needs to change.

MissingDietCoke · 31/10/2024 17:24

You all are echoing my thoughts about starting. I'm off work today and have pottered around doing jobs thinking "I'll take it next hour". I don't know what's stopping me tbh. I think I'm nervous about side effects, nervous my preteens will realise (I try so hard to instill healthy food habits but don't practise what I preach) and also nervous this won't work. Someone give me a kick!!!

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 31/10/2024 17:50

MissingDietCoke Honestly just go for it. I was the same last week when I was going to do my first jab, kept putting it off and making excuses and worrying about side effects. In the end, I just did it and am so glad. Yes I had a bit of a headache the first day or so, but otherwise has been great (W1day 6 for me and glad tomorrow is jab day - appetite much bigger today but pushing through on willpower). Find a moment where you can have peace and time to read the instructions and get it done and get your journey started. Best of luck x

24 hours after my first jab and I'm on the fence! I've had a banana and cereal bar and I'm not ravenous. Also loads of sweets in for Halloween and I'm not really bothered. I am hungry, but waiting for trick or treaters to die down before starting cooking. Overall I'm pleased, but maybe a bit disappointed I didn't lose 15 stone in a day as Peter Kay would say 😂😂

I was the same yesterday convinced myself I needed to do all sorts of wee jobs round the house first "in case the side effects knock me out". Definitely didn't need to worry as I'm totally fine today and have the bonus of a shorter to do list 😂x

LauraB74 · 31/10/2024 19:14

My first jab done. Really thought it might sting but didn't even feel it.

So sw 12st 9 and I'd like to get under 10 as an intermin goal but under 9 would be even better.

Good luck to everyone starting. We can do this.

BrownJenkins · 31/10/2024 19:29

Don't know if this will help anyone but I watched the video and paused at each stage as I was doing my first injection.
It's on YouTube. I typed in "How to inject Mounjaro" then scrolled down to "Juniper UK". The guy has a very calm and clear voice, is English spoken and talks you all the way through it.

MissingDietCoke · 31/10/2024 19:34

Done it. (I think, didn't actually feel a thing!). Thanks for the support. Onwards!

WeldMeDaphne · 31/10/2024 22:12

Hi everyone- it's been great reading all the recent starters' tales. I have ordered from Curate and just waiting on my pen to arrive- was approved Tuesday, DPD say they are just waiting for my order so I'm hopeful it will be here tomorrow but assuming it will actually be Saturday- so I'd love to join the thread.
In true nerdy fashion I have just set up a tracking spreadsheet so that I can track my weight, BMI, measurements alongside my dosage, injection location and any side effects. I have overall 6 stone to lose to get me to a healthy BMI which seems like a hell of a lot. I'm 17st5 as of this morning, hoping that I will be able to lose a reasonable chunk by Christmas :)

Jellybaby30 · 01/11/2024 07:16

Happy November to everyone! I'm sure lots of us starting in these first few days of the month - I'm going to start this evening, nervous! Here's hoping for a great November for everyone 🤞

redavocado · 01/11/2024 07:32

weldmedaphne that sounds like a great idea! I'm going to set up a similar chart I think.

I did the first jab last night. It was so much easier than I expected and so far no real side effects. I'm not feeling particularly hungry this morning but planning to make a smoothie with some protein powder to make sure I'm getting some protein in early.

Good luck everyone else starting this month!

WeldMeDaphne · 01/11/2024 11:25

Well- just got notification that my package arrives today, so I think I’m going to go ahead and do jab 1 this evening.
@redavocado ive got a formula in to calculate my BMI automatically and am going to add a rule to colour code the BMI- red while I’m still obese, amber for overweight and green for when I eventually get to the healthy zone. I really should get out more 😆
Planning to have a sort out of the fridge and freezer and do a bit of meal planning this evening and then do the jab after tea. Want to be as well prepped as possible.

Cakeybake · 01/11/2024 12:47

I'm on day 2 and haven't had any side effects yet, apart from having zero appetite. I've forced myself to have a protein shake for breakfast today. I'm drinking a lot of water which is probably helping. I'm hoping for fairly quick weight loss, I would love to see a difference by Christmas. It would be amazing to feel confident for the obligatory family photos that happen each year!

My biggest problem with food is overeating and mindlessly snacking so the lack of appetite and food noise should really help me. I'm hoping to get used to smaller portions and create better habits so that when I finish the treatment the habits stick and I'll maintain the healthier weight.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 01/11/2024 13:39

Week 3, day 3 and I’m feeling awful. I ate a jacket potato with cheese and beans last night. I felt fine but woke up needing the toilet around 5am and have had a bad stomach since then and vomited about 9am. I’ve been trying to sip some electrolytes after sleeping all morning but it’s just gone straight through me 😬. Not sure if it’s MJ or a bug.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 01/11/2024 13:44

I’m also very shivery 🥶

FinallyOnTheUp · 01/11/2024 14:41

Hello! I've just ordered my first pen, with Medexpress so think I'll be waiting a while until it arrives. I need to lose 3-4 stone, but what made me decide to start Mounjaro was seeing fellow ADHDers talk about it helping their symptoms, overall as well as food noise. I also have really high cholesterol and can't tolerate Statins so I'm hoping to lower it this way

I'm a bit concerned about side effects as I'm really susceptible to them generally, and usually start medications on a really low dose and work up. Especially fatigue. I'm also quite concerned about sagging skin/gaunt face as I'm post-menopausal and can't exercise due to health issues, so I'll be happy with a longer slow weight loss

I really appreciate having all these posts to read, it helps seeing how everyone else is getting on Smile
