Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Any recommendations for a veggie starting Mounjaro? I'm going to inject tomorrow and about to go food shopping to get some good basics in.

Hi all, erring more and more on the side of starting this. Has anyone had this prescribed by their GP? Or can you only buy it online and if so can anyone recommend a reputable and cheaper source?

Hi there, I looked into GP referral but went private as the NHS criteria is narrow at the moment. But I will be disclosing it to my GP and discussing it with them.

It was hard to chose a private prescriber as there are so many out there but after going back and forth I settled on Voy, I like the support they offer with an App and coaches and had good reviews. I also felt reassured as loads of people on MN are using them!

I have another question, do you have to keep the injections in the fridge? (I'm guessing when one dose is open?). I need to hide it from my family.

It should be kept cold in the fridge before you start taking it.

Then once you have had your first dose, as the pen should be used up within 30 days, you do not have to store in fridge.

TabbieMctatty · 02/11/2024 10:23

Morning all.

Finally took my dose this morning.

I meant to do it on Wednesday but 3 very full days and late nights on half term meant I just didn't get time to sit down and read everything properly.

Taken some photos to compare through my journey and noted my official start weight.

I really really hope this works and soon. But I know it can take until the higher doses to kick in.

Just going to sit and do my online food shop and I have no idea what to buy! I've fallen into such bad habits.

Is everyone calorie counting? I feel like I should to keep an eye on my calories but I find it such a faff!

I did our food shop yesterday and bought the usual stuff minus the snacks. Can you pinpoint where you think you're going wrong at the moment? I know my meals are fine (portions could be smaller) but snacking is my downfall so I'm cutting them out.

This is day two for me and I'm feeling full and slight nauseous. I had a smoothie for breakfast and it took me ages to finish. There's loads of leftover Halloween chocolate in the kitchen and usually I'd have picked at that already but I'm just so uninterested in it. It's a really weird feeling!

Cakeybake · 02/11/2024 11:54

I'm on day 3, and have absolutely no appetite, and having to force myself to eat. I'm really pleased that it seems to be working so far, do you have to increase the dose? If it keeps working at the starter dose with no side effects, I'll be tempted to keep going with that! Whenever I have dieted in the past my first week I seem to lose loads, so will be interesting to see what the first weigh in brings!

Sounds like it's going well for you so far!

My downfall is snacking too. I can eat well all day and then binge all evening.

Also totally addicted to carbs. Absolutely addicted. So I know I need to address that and my snacking

I took my first jab Thursday morning - oh boy did I get hit with the runs, egg burps and vomiting from Friday afternoon onwards. I've just come back from all inclusive holiday, so I weighed myself last Sunday and today (I was trying to rein in the indulgence since I got back) I'm a stone down - but that's mostly puke, poo and general loss of cocktail weight. My jeans are definitely looser - they were a battle to get into earlier the week - but it's likely just water weight - I'll take it as a small victory at the moment though.

Not quite sure how long I can cope with side effects of this level of intensity though.

OliviaFlaversham · 02/11/2024 12:23

Just done my first one. Took months to build up to ordering it. Then ordered on Wednesday and collected yesterday.

I barely felt the needle go in and definitely couldn’t feel any liquid go in (although it read back to 0 and I can see the tube is a dose lower).

Just sitting waiting to feel something.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 02/11/2024 12:30

Hi. Got my delivery from med express today. Straight in the fridge and just did the injection there following a video on you tube.

Is the needle suppossed to go all the way in ? I thought it was but when i went to remove it, looks like it wasnt, i think its went in though.

Start weight today -84.5kg. Have put 4.5kg on in 3 weeks. Had lost 3 stone using diet ans expercise but since coming back from holiday in september, have really struggled with sugar cravings.

Hoping this will help me get back on track.

You've lost a stone in a week?

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 02/11/2024 12:35

WeldMeDaphne · 01/11/2024 20:34

I have done jab one. I honestly thought everyone was exaggerating when they said that they couldn't feel it going in. But that was literally painless, I'm so surprised (mostly because I'm a big fat wimp hahah!). Spreadsheet updated lol 🤓

Is there a group spreadsheet or is it your personal one ?

@NcDesperatelySeekingWeightLoss I was told if you have blood sugar readings over 7 and other diabetes medication isn't working, the GP can prescribe. I have a friend who is being prescribed by the GP.
As for the cost, go on one of the comparison sites. I don't think there's a really cheap supplier, not if they're reputable.
At the moment I'm paying the equivalent of £3.76 a day. I was probably paying that, and more, on chocolate, biscuits etc.
Good luck with whatever you decide 🙂

Love your daily comparison to sweet treat costs! Great way to look at it!

TorturedParentsDepartment · 02/11/2024 12:47

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 02/11/2024 12:32

You've lost a stone in a week?

Holiday weight and water weight, plus period gain coming off and a slightly wonky floorboard under the scales I suspect. As long as I'm weighing in the same wobbly floorboard spot each time I think it would be consistent as a baseline. I'll take it more seriously when the trousers start falling down.

WeldMeDaphne · 02/11/2024 13:52

@Hundredthmillionthdiet its one I created- I’d be happy to share the template- don’t know if you can send things like that on mumsnet though! If not I could probably drop it in a Google drive or something :)

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 02/11/2024 14:11

My DH has just started to get an upset stomach too, which makes me pretty sure it was a bug and not MJ. I’ve woken up feeling fine today and 2lb down since Wednesday (8lb in total). I’ve had a couple of poached eggs on toast which I really enjoyed.

OliviaFlaversham · 02/11/2024 14:22

How long was it before you all started feeling any side effects if any?

bananasplice · 02/11/2024 15:50

I haven't really have any side effects so far, struggled to sleep the first few nights but that is not unusual.
I guess I have been lucky, I have drunk lots of water and have 3 small meals a day.

Jabbed Thursday morning, had eggy burps start Friday mid-morning and by Friday afternoon I was best friends with the loo bowl. Taken till this afternoon for me to have any trust in a fart.

ProudCoralBear · 02/11/2024 18:43

First day nearly over, haven’t had any side effects, came on today as well and usually lots of pain and upset stomach but have actually felt better and had more energy than normal. I had a protein shake for breakfast a couple of coffees and a normal dinner of home made curry but a smaller portion. Much less than normal and although I’ve felt hungry at points I’ve been able to just get on with my day rather than thinking about food or panicking about being hungry later etc. it’s a very weird feeling for me.

namechangedyetagain · 02/11/2024 18:53

Joining today! Have not been overly sensible as had a last blow out with my bestie today (lots of fizz) but it made me brave enough to have my first jab tonight.

Luckily I have lots of fat so injected into my stomach and didn't really hurt at all (2 c sections with jabs after). Just wondering whether to eat now or whether I'm already going to pay the price for being slightly reckless.

Going forward I need to sort my diet..... need to up my protein and lower the cards. I don't snack, eat sweet stuff but I do love carbs. That will be hard.

So far so good for me. I've been quite tired, but then I often am and a bit of a headache. I was worried about nausea as antibiotics often knock me sick but no sign so far (end of 2nd full day). It's SO WEIRD not being hungry all the time. I'm at a Halloween party with sweets all over the place and I'm just not fussed at all. It's quite liberating.

TabbieMctatty · 02/11/2024 19:07

Day 1 done. Only jabbed this morning so Im assuming it will take a day or two to feel any effects - good or bad!

I have to say I have not felt hungry at all today though! Probably all in the mind but I'll take it! 😛

OliviaFlaversham · 02/11/2024 19:46

I am also end of day one and thinking of food constantly! Jealous of those of you who are already not thinking of food and less hungry.

LauraB74 · 02/11/2024 19:53

2nd day nearly done and feel OK. I'm still feeling a bit hungry but just don't fancy anything. Had a Wholegrain porridge with honey for breakfast with a skinny latte, slimming world pot for lunch and a protein shake for tea. Given up my beloved coke zero as i think that makes me snack in the evening so mainly had water today. Only had 780 calories so know I really need to eat more just don't know what. Maybe some Yoghurt and fruit.

14k steps done as well which is ok.

Hooe everyone is doing OK.
