Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:

Hello all. My pen is due to be delivered today. I've woken up with a horrid headache and my period (unexpectedly!) so not sure now whether to leave it a few days before doing it.

I'm desperate to get started though, the food noise is exhausting me. I feel like I'm obsessed with food, whether it's what I should eat next, whether I deserve a treat, should I be good, what should I eat, beating myself for what I've eaten etc. if this just frees me from that I'll be happy.

I had the same last week and decided to just go ahead but injected just before bed so that I could sleep through any side effects. It was completely fine.

Ah thanks so much. I'm probably overthinking it! I'm also planning to do mine in the evening - mostly so that the kids are in bed and I can read the instructions without being distracted!

OliviaFlaversham · 30/10/2024 10:04

I’ve just ordered from Asda so waiting now to see if I’ve been accepted.

bananasplice · 30/10/2024 11:04

How is everyone doing?
I am half way through the first week now and still feeling good, I haven't been sleeping well but don't know if it is connected, loving just not feeling hungry. I am a real snacker especially when bored in the evenings so it has been a real surprise to not be raiding the fridge after being good all day which is my usual process!

WeakAsIAm · 30/10/2024 11:13

Would love to join this thread

Took my first dose last night, decided to go with separate insulin needles to draw out the dose so I can decide how much I want to give as the bonus dose.

No side effects yet I don't think anyway; had white bread for my tea last night which always gives me a gripey tummy the day after.

Had porridge for breakfast trying to keep the constipation at bay; didn't feel hungry before it but managed to eat it all any way.

Optimistic for the weeks ahead

AllstarFacilier · 30/10/2024 11:34

I thought my first jab would have been here yesterday and that I would have started by today, but I’ve just had an email saying that it’s been dispatched today, so I’m assuming it will be here tomorrow. I’m a bit unsure of when to take it now. I’m off work this week and thought it would be the perfect time. I’ve got a lot of driving to do over the weekend as well as a meal out, and I’m worried about being unwell as I drive. I’m prone to headaches and they can make me feel sick, so I don’t want to risk getting that for the weekend, but I also don’t want to have it at work either! I think I may wait until Sunday now. Do people find morning or evening better to jab?

cattreatsanddragrace · 30/10/2024 11:47

Hi everyone - thought I'd pop my head in here too. My first dose arrived just an hour ago and I'm not sure when is best to take it. Do I just do it straight away or should I wait until this evening so most of the side effects are when I'm asleep? Any advice will be appreciated.
I'm horrifically obese and need to lose some weight before trying for a baby and this is my last shot really. Fingers crossed!

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive too. Supposedly dispatched last Thursday but no sign by Monday so they sent another one out guaranteed 1pm delivery but no sign of that one either and royal mail tracking for both say "we are expecting it." So either someone at royal mail is doing a roaring trade in back market mounjaro pens or something very odd is going on.

I've been trying to eat healthily in preparation and up my exercise but enthusiasm is wearing off.

TabbieMctatty · 30/10/2024 15:31

Eek! My pen has arrived. It will have to wait until this evening as the kids are going feral and I need time to read the instructions and make sure I do it correctly and store it proper lot in-between doses!

BrownJenkins · 30/10/2024 18:18

Had 2nd injection today. Feeling fine, so far.
I just did it and got on with my day. I was so looking forward to doing it.
Jumped on the scales and I've lost 4lbs. Must admit I was a little disappointed, had hoped it would be more. I'll definitely go up to 5mg when I reorder.

One bit of advice, drink, drink and then drink some more (water, of course) 😂

Patch1234 · 30/10/2024 20:48

@TabbieMctatty (love the name!) just done my first!

@BrownJenkins that's great! I hope to update similar next week!

I could have typed this post, word for word Grin 2nd jab today, 4 lb lost so far.

I felt vaguely nervous before I injected, not sure why! I feel hungry as well, this evening, and I'm sure I had total supression this time last week.

Ah well, we'll see!

BrownJenkins · 30/10/2024 21:19

@Sketcho Strange you should say about suppression, I've just eaten a load of Roses chocolates. No way would that have happened this time last week.
With a bit of luck I'll feel sick and it will stop me doing it again.
I'm not hungry, just craving the wrong things. Why oh why can't I crave cucumber or lettuce? It's so unfair.
Good luck. Hopefully it'll get better, for both of us.

I injected into my stomach today - I did my thigh last week - and apparently the suppression is supposed to be very slightly better (all anecdotal, but hey). I just made a curry and could have eaten a stack of poppadoms and mango chutney with it!

I want my suppression back! Yes, good luck for tomorrow!

PostpartumMama · 31/10/2024 09:42

Injection no 2 today.. can't decide whether to do it this morning or wait until tonight.

What does everyone prefer to do?

I have lost 3lb
Felt a little down and wanted more.. but heyho we go again 🥳🥳🥳

MissingDietCoke · 31/10/2024 10:03

Can I join please? Pen delivered last week but had a few days away with the family
for half term so decided to wait and it's been sitting in the fridge for a week staring at me. Not quite sure what's holding me back so Today's the day! Nervous and excited at the same time. 5ft5, sw 15st4.

smarty4 · 31/10/2024 10:05

My prescription has been approved, so waiting for it to be delivered. Any tips or things to get in advance? Keep seeing supplements advertised but can't tell if they are a gimmick or not

Cakeybake · 31/10/2024 10:28

Hi everyone, I'd like to join please. I've taken my first dose today! Feeling motivated to get going and hopefully shift a decent amount before Christmas!
5ft5 SW 13st 6

BleachedJumper · 31/10/2024 11:45

It’s still very early days for me, two days after first injection but I’m not really feeling any of the suppression just yet! I did wake up with some bad upper stomach aches/around my ribs that meant the dogs early morning walk was cut short.

Im not sure if I’m overthinking it, like constantly asking myself ‘do I feel hungry?’ And I have had a bag of chocolates that I had in the house, which is the last of them and I will not be replacing!

Kialla · 31/10/2024 11:52

Welcome newbies!

I'm about to take my 2nd dose. I'm 1.9kg down from last Fridays weigh in which I was a little disappointed with. However, I'm actually down 3.1kg from Monday 24th October and I have my period. Must try not to compare to some of the losses reported on various Facebook groups!

I started MJ already in a calorie deficit and I always drink a LOT of water so I don't think I was ever going to have a huge initial loss.

Regardless, it's better than anything I've managed in the last year.

I definitely felt it wear off a little by the end of day 5 and I think yesterday was mostly fuelled by willpower and being really busy - I was definitely a bit hungrier and thinking about food more. I'm always more motivated when I can see that it's working so hopefully the willpower can get me through!

Still no side effects other than mild constipation, which is manageable.

BrownJenkins · 31/10/2024 12:20

Oh boy, did I feel sick last night. Woke up feeling a bit sick too, serves me right.
Keep looking at what's left of the tin of Roses chocolates, won't be touching them today.
@smarty4 I haven't bothered with supplements. I'm eating a balanced diet with extra fruit and veg.
@PostpartumMama I inject in the morning, it suits me better.

I was so keen to do my 2nd injection as I felt the effects of the 1st one had definitely worn off, resulting in my attack on a tin of Roses.
Apart from constipation, which is still bothersome, I'm feeling fine.

Good luck everyone, we can do this.

Jellybaby30 · 31/10/2024 12:33

Loved reading up on everyone's progress. We fly home from a few days away later and I'm nervous about starting tomorrow. Need a big diet overhaul too. Trying to decide whether to take any collagen as I'm 42 and my neck is really fat, obviously anticipating all this weight disappearing 🤞. Good luck all getting started as November begins

I started taking collagen a few weeks ago in anticipation. I didn’t have much expectation but I’ve already noticed my skin is much firmer and bouncier and my nails are growing long and strong.

WeakAsIAm · 31/10/2024 12:55

Not started any supplements, what is everybody using?

Wondering if I should start collagen at least
