November Mounjaro Starters

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:

@Hundredthmillionthdiet it's not an official term but I meant (and I think goldleafcat meant) a dose between 2.5mg and 5mg using the extra that's in the pen. I've taken three doses now and I'll have a bit extra with the final one before I officially start on the 5mg pen.

Goldleafcat · 13/11/2024 10:50

@bananasplice Fingers crossed we see some movement on the scales soon. I have definitely noticed some of my tops are looser (especially around the bust - had a pleasant surprise with a top which was getting horribly tight!). That was at the end of week 1.

I think I need to drink less wine 🍷🙈

Goldleafcat · 13/11/2024 10:56

@redavocado I’m hoping to get maybe 3.75mg out of it (no science here - I’ve read people talking about it and sounded sensible!). 0.6ml in the syringe is meant to be the weekly dose so will see what I get after the normal dose from the pen. Obviously not planning to go wild and inject loads if there’s quite a bit left (not sure there will be - I do prime the pen each week). Perhaps if I can get 0.3ml that’ll get me to the 3.75mg or thereabouts.

BleachedJumper · 13/11/2024 11:12

Lovely to see some positive results so far, and of the latest comments the side effects generally sound manageable which is great news.

I also started on the 29th of October, did my third jab yesterday. I had good results the first two weeks (6 and then 4 lbs) so I’m expecting a much steadier, hopefully 2 lbs a week rate from here. I just want it to hurry up though!

Does anyone else feel hyper aware of their size/weight while you’re actively attempting to lose weight? Before starting I knew I was uncomfortable in my clothes occasionally, and would have the odd temper tantrum when I had to get dressed up and nothing looked nice, but I was almost just ignoring it otherwise. Since I’ve started, I almost feel like I’ve never been bigger. I’m very critical of myself when I look in the mirror and feel like I want to hide under baggy jumpers, and not just because I’m so flipping freezing! I wasn’t sure if anyone else could relate to this feeling, when I’ve done well with losing 10lbs so far, but just feeling like I’m a long way off from where I want to be.

Sorry for the indulgent rant! It’s a marathon not a sprint, positive mental attitude etc etc.

rocketgal · 13/11/2024 11:27

@BleachedJumper I can relate to this. I think in part it's because when you're bigger you sort of stop caring about the way you look, perhaps as a self preservation mechanism but then I found when I actually wanted to change and started losing weight, I was hyper critical of myself and even more conscious because I had started caring. This time around I'm trying to go easy on myself. I've also set a goal that I'm sticking to as I felt this was important to me because at that weight previously I was still convinced I was fat whereas now I recognise that's a good weight for me so trying to detach a little bit from the emotion if that makes sense

daisylucybess · 13/11/2024 12:19

thank you ,i am seeing a doctor at tea time ...never seen a doc ,for 3 years but ,i was very weirdly ill , yes i think my blood sugar ,could have been very low.

Ralala · 13/11/2024 12:34

Hi all, I’m on week 2. Down 7lb in week one but I had horrendous diarrhoea in week 1 and struggled to keep anything in. Thankfully that has stopped but I suspect helped with the weight loss! Weigh in for week 2 is Monday .

i just got an email from medexpress about ordering my new pen. Im torn between staying on 2.5 or moving up. I have been completely fine this week but last week my side effects were bad. Is anyone else sticking with 2.5 for a second block?

BleachedJumper · 13/11/2024 12:42

@Ralala I decided to order the 5mg, my thinking was that it gives me the flexibility to continue on 2.5 by counting the clicks if that’s what feels most comfortable, but also if I got to week 5 or 6 on 2.5 and found I had no suppression, I can go up to 3.75/5mg. The cost of the pen was the same, so I feel like it made sense to me to have the range of options.

I’m on Jab 3 of 2.5, and intend to use my bonus dose for week 5, so I haven’t yet decided if I’ll continue using the 5mg pen as a 2.5 yet.

Amelanchier · 13/11/2024 13:07

First jab today. Fingers crossed it goes well

Mrsredlipstick · 13/11/2024 13:12

@BleachedJumper i didn't care how big I was for years. I spent a fortune on plus sized designer clothes to look nice for work. However I could never shop with others. No fun days out.
I lost five stone prior to going on Wegovy and I have just donated five bags of size 24/22 clothes. I never want to see them again. I'm tall so a 14 is fine for me. I'm currently a 18 and those clothes are now on my back. Be good to yourself.

Let us know how you get on

yarnbarn · 13/11/2024 13:44

I can't get my head around the 3.75mg

The liquid in the pen, is 5mg strength, it doesn't change if you take less. I get that people are taking less of it, but that doesn't change the liquid to 3.75mg strength

What am I missing?

IHateMozzies · 13/11/2024 13:45

I will definitely buy the 5mg next, but I may not go up to the full dose. I’ve looked into using the pen after 30 days and I’m willing to give it a try!

piscofrisco · 13/11/2024 13:54

@CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets yes! I'm only on day two and I keep finding myself thinking what to have for lunch or whatever, then not fancying it, then not knowing what to do without the routine of it sort of thing. So odd.

I've made myself have a protein mousse now, as I had only had 4 blackberries all day and a bit of lasagne sauce just to taste it, and two cups of tea-but I just don't feel hungry in the slightest.

If you take a 0.6ml dose then it includes 5mg of MJ. If you use the same pen to take less by counting clicks or using a syringe rather than dialing the pen all the way round to 1, then it will include less MJ. For example, 0.3ml would have 2.5mg of MJ. Does that help? That's how people use pens to vary the dose.

MissingDietCoke · 13/11/2024 13:58

I'm going to go up to 5 mg for my second month I reckon. I've noticed my appetite creeping back in in week 2. Tbh I was flabbergasted at the amount of suppression in week 1 and had half convinced myself I was one of the lucky ones that 2.5 was so effective on, but it seems to be wearing a bit thin fairly quickly. Willpower is still very strong though so I'm hoping that will show on the scales on my end of week 2 weigh in on Friday morning. I'm not unrealistic enough to think it'll be another big loss (5lb for me in week 1) but like others I'd be ecstatic with a steady 2lb a week loss through the journey.

If a whole dose from a 5mg pen is 5mg then taking 3/4 of a dose from a 5mg will give you 3.75mg.

It's like not wanting to drink too much alcohol so instead of having a pint of beer you have a half pint. You drink less beer so you have less alcohol.

redavocado · 13/11/2024 14:01

@choux that analogy is a far better explanation!

Ralala · 13/11/2024 14:04

thanks everyone! Yes the 5mg gives me the flexibility for sure

yarnbarn · 13/11/2024 14:21

@Choux

If a whole dose from a 5mg pen is 5mg then taking 3/4 of a dose from a 5mg will give you 3.75mg.

It will give you 3/4 of a full dose, the liquid is still the same strength at 5mg though?

It's like not wanting to drink too much alcohol so instead of having a pint of beer you have a half pint. You drink less beer so you have less alcohol.

I get that, but the strength of the alcohol hasn't changed

I like to knit, not the sexiest hobby I know but hear me out.

I can knit for hours on end usually watching tv but I can't use my hands to eat because they're busy.

Helps to stop the snacking and busys the mind from the food noise.

Love this idea! Can’t knit though 😂 haven’t tried for several years so..maybe worth giving it another go? I always end up with triangles! (Adding stitches)

Pumpkinforever · 13/11/2024 14:34

I was going to see how I progress on weeks 2 and 3 before deciding about staying at 2.5 or moving up to 5. I still seem to have mega suppression and not bothered by food nor alcohol.

Also not sure if I want any side effects to pop up over December

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 13/11/2024 14:35

McZeba · 13/11/2024 07:54

Weigh day tomorrow and no matter what the scales say, my love/crutch of gin is gone. I have no desire to drink any sort of alcohol - I've had plain tonic each evening and felt happy with that. My sleep is less disturbed and my food noise is manageable. Ashamed that I have spent so many evenings after work thinking I need a drink, when in reality I don't.

That is wonderful McZeba well done! 👏 so many benefits to this stuff as well as weight loss, it really is a revelation!

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 13/11/2024 14:38

IHateMozzies · 13/11/2024 08:05

Weigh in day! Lost 6lb!! I can feel more room in my jeans already. So happy!! My first goal is to get under the next stone down so 4lb to go 🤞🏻

2nd injection tonight.

IHateMozzies - amazing result, well done! 👏 oooo exciting to get in the next stone bracket too, I always find it a bit of a motivator bump when close to a new number 😊

Kialla · 13/11/2024 14:53

I'm relieved I've ordered 5mg. Today has shown that there has definitely been some suppression going on as I've had cravings this afternoon for crisps and bread!

Considering taking my last dose of 2.5mg tonight (instead of tomorrow) just to quieten the food noise a little. Also considering a 3.75mg dose to ease myself into the 5mg dose next week.
