Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

@evilharpy I think it's similar for me, I did ivf and injected into the stomach so it's probably more the unknown doing it somehere else! Although I've had a good loss this week and felt fine overall, I don't love doing it snd did feel apprehensive doing the jab today but I feel so happy to finally see the scales move and to not be bingeing or starving myself and constantly worrying about food, it's such a release!

uggggghhh I was hoping that the diarrhoea would have eased over night but if anything it’s worse this morning 😭😭. I’ve honestly never had diarrhoea this bad for so long. Could barely get the kids ready this morning and the house is a wreck. Obviously can’t go on like this so praying it eases today. I lost 7 pounds in the first couple of weeks and was feeling so happy with that. I don’t want to stop 😢😢

Update 🚨🚨 my DD has caught the diarrhoea so it’s obviously a bug 😅. The mounjaro is possibly not helping things, but so relieved that this will likely pass and I can continue with the medicine. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Mine's arrived today! Did my first dose straight into the handy pad of menopausal belly fat I've developed and didn't feel a thing.

I am monitoring my food/portion sizes. Also curious to know how much dieting discipline I'll need, or if the portion control will end up sort of taking care of itself?

Mrsredlipstick · 12/11/2024 13:47

I'm using nutracheck. You put in your height, weight and desired weekly loss and it works out your calorie needs and food breakdown. I have used it before. I think it is 50p a week.

Edited

I have used this in the past (in fact am still paying for it but not using it), it's a great app and much easier to use than My Fitness Pal.

So day 2 now of week 1 and I don't have any bad side effects. I am feeling cold and have the burps but not sulphurous. All food noise still completely gone so I had another protein bagel thin with peanut butter on it for lunch. I am planning to have a baked sweet potato with cottage cheese for dinner. I had a flat white when out this morning and felt a bit sick afterwards, which may be due to the full fat milk in it. I did weigh myself this morning and I am down 1.5lb (I know I should have waited a week but I was curious).

I'm toying with the idea of going with a cheaper provider for my next pen unless I decide to move up to a 5mg dose, but the idea of having to do the all the photos (including the scales) has put me off a bit. I'm currently using Asda online pharmacy. Has anyone got any advice on the easiest (and the cheapest) online supplier to use?

Rosie2024 · 12/11/2024 15:05

Yummy roast chicken! I’ve been eating chicken breasts galore this last two weeks but fancied it with some seasoned chicken skin today. Amazing! No I haven’t ate the lot just been picking at it. 😍

Kialla · 12/11/2024 15:10

I've had such a busy weekend and haven't kept up with the thread - but it's so good to have people at similar stages. Welcome to everyone new and well done to everyone else!

I'm on week 2, day 5. The scales haven't budged at all in 4 days which is annoying but not unexpected as I had the dreaded constipation. Had to resort to dulcolax and Sunday was horrible. I've bumped uo the fruit and veg and ordered psyllium husks for my overnight oats.

Still no major side effects (I'm putting the constipation down to eating a LOT less), I feel cold at night and exhausted by 10pm. But that's helping me sleep more so I'm seeing it as a win.

I have felt the effects wear off a bit over the last 2 days - food noise is a little louder. So far, I've had the motivation to ignore it but definitely think I need 5mg now. I'm due to take my last jab on Thursday and I'm thinking about counting clicks to take 3.75mg (instead of the bonus dose) to ease myself into the higher dose.

One absolute revelation - we went out for dinner last night for DD's birthday and I had a ravioli dish that i knew was a smaller portion followed by affogato. I didn't have even a hint of guilt or worry that I had eaten out because I knew I'd be straight back on it today and it doesn't have to ruin my day or week. It definitely would have before. And the food tasted better without the guilt!

I went onto monj.co.uk and picked the current cheapest provider for 5mg (IQ). Ordered last night with a discount code and they emailed immediately with a link to add extra info (front and side photos, the label from my current pen and a copy of my ID). Pu do it all theough the link and it only took a couple of minutes but saved me about £30 so I'm happy!

I've just realised it says the instructions come with your first order.

Do I also need to be weighing food/counting calories etc or are the appetite-suppressing powers enough to make me self-regulate?

I haven’t weighed anything but I am happy on one meal a day which I have been doing for a while (before Mounjaro) - a piece of lean protein, salad and then some fruit to follow. I have had zero hunger pangs since injecting and I have wanted zero wine in the evening which has been my main issue.

daisylucybess · 12/11/2024 16:09

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/11/2024 16:34

Oooh, my first delivery is coming tomorrow! Excited!

I’m not really sure what to try to eat. 800 calories (Fast 800, basically), 1200 calories (TDEE, I think - I’m very short), or go au naturale and eat to hunger? The last option is easiest but I’m worried I’d still overeat. However this medication is supposed to make that much easier.

I have worked out that in my last serious diet attempt in 2023, I lost 20lbs in 5 months. That was doing Fast 800, and I really was focused and dedicated, but with life etc happening it averaged at 1lb a week. If I lost 2lbs a week for 5 months on paper that would be 40lb. I’m hoping that Mounjaro smooths out the life inconsistencies. Also secretly hoping for more than 2lbs a week!

IHateMozzies · 12/11/2024 16:51

W1D6 I'm definitely feeling hungrier today. Haven’t snacked yet though. Looking forward to the 2nd dose tomorrow.

namechangedyetagain · 12/11/2024 17:12

W2D3 and scales still not budging. I'm feeling really quite sad at the minute. I'm feeling lost with food, I'm not joining in family meals as I worry they're too calorific (eg they're having nachos tonight), I don't know what I can / should / want to eat. I've had a chicken salad today, a protein mousse and some pineapple. And I'm feeling hungry, sad and like an utter failure.

Maybe MJ doesn't work for everyone? Maybe I'm destined to be fat forever. At least I would be slightly less miserable.

Just sending solidarity ❤️ It's a long game I guess! I think it will be 5mg before I feel suppression again.

Your still early on in this journey.. I say join in with the family meals, you may find after 3 or 4 mouthfuls you will full and stop, therefore u won't be missing out and u will feel part of the dinner..

I’m sorry you’re struggling, it can be so demotivating when you don’t see a shift on the scales. Did you take your measurements when you first started? I know when I’ve previously lost weight, the scale numbers don’t always move when your body is actually changing shape/slimming down.

Have you lost any weight at all?

Don’t give up. Make sure you are getting enough natural (non-processed) protein to be satisfied- like eggs, chicken, nuts etc.

You are definitely not a failure ❤️

I'm sorry you are sad.

Have you taken any measurements? Could you be losing inches even if the scales aren't moving?

I also need to be really hydrated to see any movement, if I don't drink enough my body seems to hang onto all the water! Are you drinking enough?

I knows it's really hard when you aren't eating along with everyone else and it feels like a sacrifice.

namechangedyetagain · 12/11/2024 18:04

I didn't take any measurements no, but clothes aren't feeling any looser either. I'm drinking as much as I can without needing to go to the loo every five mins! Have lost 2lb since starting on 2 Nov.

Can't decide what to even have for dinner tonight.

BleachedJumper · 12/11/2024 18:09

I’m having baked cod with lemon and thyme, and a mix of green veg on the side, if you want some ideas.

White fish is a great source of protein and low calorie too, it’s very versatile and nice to have a change from chicken.

Do you think you’ve had any appetite suppression?

namechangedyetagain · 12/11/2024 18:14

I'm not really sure. I'm hungry and cold today. I am definitely not wanting to eat as much as before and I've gone off alcohol. I've been strict with myself and not bought cakes sweets etc. The real test will be when someone brings cakes or biscuits into work....

BrownJenkins · 12/11/2024 18:32

I started Mounjaro on the 23rd October and had my 4th injection on the 11th November. I have lost 3kg in all that time. The last 2 injections were done with a 5 day gap. I have absolutely no suppression at all. I realise the 2.5mg is just to get the body used to the drug. I have the 5mg pen and I'm wondering whether to start that next week or take the bonus 2.5mg.
The only side effect I've had has been constipation, twice.
Unfortunately I didn't think to measure myself before starting but nothing feels any different. Same clothes, same fit etc.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 12/11/2024 18:48

Anyone else struggling a little bit mentally?

Previously I ate and snackrd when not hungry and I need to find something thing else to occupy myself.

What am I going to do with all this new brain space previously filled by food?
