Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Hello everyone just checking in. I'll be honest I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed at the minute. I'm still exhausted and feel low level depressed. No weight loss and I'm eating past the suppression. We were away overnight at a wedding and I felt like I ate and drank quite greedily.

I'm very disappointed to be honest. I had high hopes that this would work for me. My weight hasn't budged since week one and I'm on week 3 day 6. I know I should be calorie counting etc but I'm so exhausted I don't have the energy to cook and plan. I have fatigue as part of autoimmune disease but it is so much worse than usual and it's becoming really difficult to live with.

I'm contemplating quitting. I may give it one more month as I'm due to get the 5mg pen next week but I'm a bit afraid of side effects. If the fatigue doesn't improve I'm going to end up off work sick so it just won't be sustainable.

Sorry you're feeling underwhelmed by it. I don't think it's that unusual to see no changes on a 2.5mg dose. It's really a starting dose to get your body used to the medication so that you don't suffer worse side effects by going straight to 5mg. I'd see how you do on 5mg before making a decision. Are you able to talk to your provider as well? I'm with Voy and they provide coaching alongside the medication.

jaromoun · 11/11/2024 22:23

well I don't think i'm
going to need the Dulcolax!
My tea was a two egg omelette with onion, pepper and a sprinkling of grated cheese and some lambs lettuce on the side. i ate about 2/3rds as felt full. I had bowel rumblings about an hour after.....

rocketgal · 12/11/2024 07:45

Week one done and I've lost 2.5kg. I think my suppression peaked at the weekend. Didn't feel hungry yesterday but I was at a cake sale and had a small brownie. I guess the difference is before I would've had breakfast/ lunch/dinner/snacks on top of that. I think that's where this is going to make the difference for me- the volume of food I would've eaten, particularly at weekends. I have had quite low energy so haven't hit the gym as planned but as long as I'm losing I'm happy

Iamoldlol · 12/11/2024 08:36

Although I should be on gransnet I can’t take the ‘eat healthily and exercise’ replies I’d get. I took my second 2.5 dose of MJ Sunday. I have no side effects so far and the suppression is amazing. I am hoping it lasts. My background is fat baby, then in my 30s piled it on and it’s been the story of my life, failed diets along the way. The relief is almost overwhelming. I am using Voy and had two sessions in my first week, one on the phone and watched an online presentation. They encouraged us to contact them if we have queries. Just wanted to say Hi and wish us all a safe and successful journey.

Goldleafcat · 12/11/2024 08:52

@andfinally10 ah in that case it sounds like you’re doing all the right things (and amazingly). Fingers crossed you feel better soon.

Pumpkinforever · 12/11/2024 09:51

Well well well I am skipping.

sw 15:12
cw 15:4
gw 11:7 (that’s just to reach overweight category)

if I can reach a healthy weight happy days but if I lose one more pound I will not be morbidly obese.

Come on week 2, jab done 💪🏻

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 12/11/2024 09:51

Hi Iamoldlol and welcome :) similar story re failed diets (the endless try again/ fail again) With you on the relief of it! Didn’t realise how much of a drain the constant food noise was until it reduced right down and at peak suppression stopped altogether. I’m with Voy too and had their intro session last week and am booked onto a coaching session. Looking forward to taking my 2nd injection tomorrow as the suppression has definitely waned since yesterday but have meals planned to focus my efforts today and tomorrow.
All the very best with yours and all of our journeys! :)

Hi, a little late but may I join please. I've just jabbed this morning for the first time. Now paranoid and waiting for terrible side effects.
I've actually had it in the fridge since September and only just worked up the bottle to do it (spurred on by my trying on a dress I was going to wear on Saturday, which I definitely won't be as it looked awful).
My goal weight is 10 stone, so I've got 2.5 stone to lose. Been doing a bit more walking this week and eating better in general (and drinking less), but at 44 and in full peri the pounds are very slow to shift, and I've got an awful sweet tooth which is my downfall. So hoping this works as I'm so miserable at my current size and I think about it much more than I should. I need to take back some control of it.

I think that we all felt nervous taking it - particularly after recent news. Try not to worry. Everyone is different and everyone's bodies will react differently. For me, the side effects have not been dreadful (although the current 2 hour insomnia I am experiencing at 2am is annoying after regaining my sleep pattern with the help of HRT). I do feel much more positive so try not to overthink it. I've combined starting with a new exercise regime so that when I stop with the jabs I will be fit enough to carry on because I should be able to move with greater ease at a lower weight.

I've taken mine at nighttime in case there is nausea but not everyone experiences that. Maybe consider that if you do for dose 2. Good luck!

8lbs is a great result! go you!

piscofrisco · 12/11/2024 11:15

Thankyou @Mounjaropen it's been an hour and so far so good Grin.
Just reading through the thread, lots of impressive losses, so hoping for similar Smile we shall see.

Pumpkinforever · 12/11/2024 11:22

Thanks @Mounjaropen and @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo I know next week will be less having read these forums but a week 1 boost has given me confidence in my decision to take this. And if it is just 1lb next week at least I will be obese not morbidly obese (that’s a sentence I never thought I would type)

rocketgal · 12/11/2024 11:44

Can I ask if anyone injects into the same area? Thanks

BleachedJumper · 12/11/2024 11:47

I’ve just done my 3rd dose today and so far I’ve done all 3 on my stomach, alternating sides of my belly button each week. I was tempted to try upper arm, but then I thought so far it’s working, I have suppression and not too many issues so I thought I would continue as I am.

Pumpkinforever · 12/11/2024 11:51

I inject into thigh. Too scared to inject into stomach

Selkie9 · 12/11/2024 11:55

Taken my third jab and I lost almost 1.3kg in the last week (almost 3 pounds). I'm really happy with that especially as my period has just come. It's the first period I've had since stopping breastfeeding and I am feeling a bit bloated, but no cravings for anything sweet which is amazing!

3.9kg (8.5 pounds) down in 2 weeks and clothes are starting to fit a little better and my face looks less chubby. No real side effects to note except occasional heartburn

imanidiotsandwich · 12/11/2024 12:18

I've just realised I haven't craved a Coke Zero for the past two weeks I've been on the jabs.

Previously I'd drink 2 cans a day at least- my consumption is well down.

I actually struggle with anything fizzy

evilharpy · 12/11/2024 12:38

I've just ordered my first dose from Med Express. Is there a complete idiot's guide somewhere as I'm really not sure I know what I'm meant to be doing?

Rosie2024 · 12/11/2024 12:45

For the injection @evilharpy ? I started with Voy and they have nice step by step guide with pictures. I’m sure there will be something on YouTube.

Im currently roasting a chicken for the first time in years to pick at.

I have injected both times into tummy fat but on different sides of my belly button. It is advised to vary the exact location.

I Read the enclosed leaflet with the pen first then watched a you tube video showing how the pen works.

rocketgal · 12/11/2024 13:26

@Mounjaropen I alternated sides but couldn't face doing my thigh for some reason!

evilharpy · 12/11/2024 13:26

I've just realised it says the instructions come with your first order.

Do I also need to be weighing food/counting calories etc or are the appetite-suppressing powers enough to make me self-regulate?

evilharpy · 12/11/2024 13:28

rocketgal · 12/11/2024 13:26

@Mounjaropen I alternated sides but couldn't face doing my thigh for some reason!

I injected blood thinners into my thigh after having my daughter, it really wasn't an issue at all, no pain. I think I'd find it harder to inject my stomach.
