Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Thanks, I will order from Voy for my next pen, as I think I will stay on 2.5 for the second month unless it stops working so well. At the moment I am having zero food noise, which is amazing for me as I am usually obsessed with food. I have had to force myself to have a small protein bagel with peanut butter for lunch1

Me too LilyRose88 the lack of food noise is fantastic! Such a break from the cycle of battling internal food chatter all the time. Makes it so much easier to make sensible choices, I weirdly feel like my free will has been given back to me.

The protein bagels are nice, I bet it felt liberating to have some pb with it (something I love but never had on Slimming World, as they steer you away it) I picked up a pack of wholemeal English muffins as thought it would be nice to have toasted with a poached egg and baby leaf spinach.

I am with Voy and they’ve been good so far, have got my first 1 to 1 coaching session booked. Does anyone know what this entails?

Thank you so much ❤️. I had thought about Imodium but then I thought maybe better to just get it all out. I’ve had some peppermint tea and I’m finally starting to feel a little be better. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’ve def learned my lesson about being really careful what I consume in the first 48 hours after injection.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better Demjay! A bit of peppermint is always a good un. I wonder if time of day makes a difference, I heard that the thigh was the best site for slow release and tummy is the quickest. I opted for thigh and side effects have been minimal so planning to go for that again for the next dose

Mrsredlipstick · 11/11/2024 15:46

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo i had a VOY one Friday.
It was goal setting and what you hope to achieve. 15/20 minutes.

DarkForces · 11/11/2024 16:22

I'm still feeling a bit queasy and far less hungry than usual and am due my second dose tomorrow. Has anyone delayed a dose because of this?

redavocado · 11/11/2024 16:29

Ooh that's good to know mrsredlipstick! I don't think mine's still the 19th which feels like a long time after my first jab. I'll have a think about some smart goals!

Lilyrose88 I'm finding the same but it does wear off halfway through the week so I'm in two minds about moving up to 5mg. If I'm losing on 2.5mg I'm inclined to stick with it rather than struggling to eat on a higher dose.

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 11/11/2024 16:45

Hello all, finally caught up on the thread. Good luck to everyone in their first week. I took 3rd jab on Friday and have now lost 9.5lbs in total since the beginning.
Luckily still no major side effects for me, but I really sympathise with those who are suffering with them. No headaches this week, felt a wee bit queasy after the jab but I think this was due to having read about the lady who sadly died. Did make me think am I doing the right thing carrying on but ultimately I think my obesity is a bigger risk to my health if not addressed. My heart does go out to her family and loved ones.
Like so many of you, I have been absolutely freezing this week. It makes a nice change as menopausal symptoms have had me overheating regularly, but will be glad if it settles to a happy medium as the DH currently living in shorts complaining the house is too hot.
So far this week suppression has been good, zero motivation to snack (my downfall, especially in the evenings). I’ve ordered my next pen in 5mg. Not sure yet if will go up to the full dose straight away, a bit worried about some of the side effects others have reported, but as the price was the same I didn’t want to regret sticking with 2.5mg in case its effects lessened and hampered my progress.
Wishing you all a good week, hopefully swift recovery from any side effects and positive progress on your journey.

andfinally10 · 11/11/2024 17:01

Do the side effects ease off as the weeks go on? I feel constantly nauseous and slightly dizzy with mild headache that comes and goes. I'm in week 1, day 4.
Will those side effects pass or not - what are everyone else's experiences?
(Not sure I can feel sick and dizzy every day for the next months. It's not a nice way to live! 😬)

Mrsredlipstick · 11/11/2024 17:45

@andfinally10 my nauseous feeling went on day five. Nothing since.
I have eaten a stir fry so upped my veg.
Not doing well on the nethers.

Goldleafcat · 11/11/2024 17:47

@andfinally10 It seems we all react very differently… I’ve just taken my third dose (brought it forward slightly from a Tues am) and I’ve been very lucky in that my symptoms have been minimal (thus far…). However I’ve not had the suppression that others speak of at all! But - it’s definitely made a difference in that I’ve not had a food binge and am generally making better choices and mostly resisting snacks and poorer choices (though have had a McDonald’s whilst travelling in week 1!). Not overly noticed an aversion to alcohol that others have observed though - I still fancy wine, but not fancying gin / stronger stuff. I hope your symptoms do improve - maybe you can simply continue on your current dose for a long time whilst others (suspect me) have to ramp it up to get desired effects?

Goldleafcat · 11/11/2024 17:52

@andfinally10 Just had a thought, are you drinking lots of water and getting fibre in? Since I started I’ve been drinking loads more water compared to normal and making an effort to have more fibre (stuff like fruit n fibre / wholemeal seeded bread etc). Never been so thirsty!

andfinally10 · 11/11/2024 18:09

Thanks @Goldleafcat for the reply. Yes am drinking lots of water and have eaten really well - mindful of mg macros. Although I'm no way hitting protein "goals" (tho never quite believe we need as much as they say) but def eating fibre - fruit, veg, beans etc. limited cheese and other rich stuff. Am vegetarian so getting my veg in has never been an issue.
I suppose it's just that balance between appetite suppression and feeling sick! I wondered if once the meds sink in then the sickness, D, etc may lessen but appetite suppression remains. Or am I dreaming!

Mounjaropen · 11/11/2024 18:09

Joining in 👋

I started last Monday and so far I have had a sore tummy - a muscle-like pain but I also started a new exercise regime at the same time so not sure it is not just that. The main side effects for me have been having to get up for a pee during the night (my bladder is weirdly painful if I don’t go) a slightly elevated heart rate and indigestion. I’ve absolutely not wanted to eat at all so I have been clean eating and no crap. Wine is my downfall and last week I went from having a drink most evenings with dinner (more during the weekends) to only drinking one night for me. This is a game-changer. Second dose this evening, Surprised myself by being able to inject it myself.

Like a lot of Women of a certain age, I read carefully the reported details of the poor woman who died after just two weeks, but like other posters I do think being fat is a worse health risk. I have lost 5lbs in the past week. I was 13st 9lbs last week and I am 13st4Lbs this week. I have around 4 stone to lose. I am 5’5” and in my early fifties. Frankly (wine consumption aside) I was sick of eating little food and losing no weight. This has been a positive kick for me. We had friends over this weekend and although I drank, I wasn’t as eager to have more wine as I usually would. They saw us a couple of weeks ago and commented that I looked like I’d lost weight which was surprising. I am being careful to ensure I am doing toning exercises as I want to avoid masses of excess skin. I cannot Wait for the scales to start with a 12!

andfinally10 · 11/11/2024 18:10

Thanks @Mrsredlipstick - good to hear it may pass tomorrow or the next day then!
But then ramp up again after jab 2?😳 Oh dear....

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 11/11/2024 18:11

I feel much hungrier than I have today but AF is due. Has anyone else found this?

namechangedyetagain · 11/11/2024 18:16

First day back at work since being on the pen. Had a lentil&tomato soup for lunch and Greek yogurt with a spoon of granola and LOTS of seeds. Couldn't eat my fruit as was stuffed. I'll prob have a bit of chicken with some salad in a bit and maybe a bit of apple crumble which will be the first time I've had something 'naughty' since starting the pen a week ago.

Despite eating very little and cutting out many things i I have lost nothing since weigh day on Saturday. So total loss still 2lb. So disheartening, esp seeing everyone else's excellent losses.

But I'm not feeling too many side effects so every cloud and all that....

OliviaFlaversham · 11/11/2024 18:58

Oh my gosh…sulphur burps! What fresh grossness is this?!?!

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 11/11/2024 20:08

I was quite peckish today and now after my evening meal I think I may have eaten a little too much today.

Hopefully my tummy copes and I don't bring it back up.

I've by no means over eaten by normal standards though. It's so weird 😂

RayonSunrise · 11/11/2024 20:12

Hello, have finally had enough of the weight that's crept on over the past couple of years and have got a Mounjaro prescription. Hopefully it will be here by Thursday at the latest.

I am excited, and a bit anxious! Today has been my first day weighing out all my food in quite some time. Now I need to get back to exercise - maybe some weights and walking?

I’ve been doing 10k steps a day as a guide, some dog walking, some on the treadmill then at online fitness classes which are strength training of variable lengths from 15-35 mins. I’m determined this is a lifestyle change for me.

WeakAsIAm · 11/11/2024 20:58

@Nomidoriforbiginnes

About to inject for W3 tomorrow, I've been thinking forward about the increase to 5mg.

Looking through some of the other threads I may go with the 3.75mg for a week or two and see what happens with the side effects before I jump to 5mg.

Nomidoriforbiginnes · 11/11/2024 21:11

@WeakAsIAm

this sounds like a good plan. I think this is what I will do too, slow and steady and just see how it goes. I’ve also ordered insulin needles for the bonus dose, worried I’d break the pen otherwise, some have mentioned this can be a little more than the full dose so hopefully that will help with the jump too.

Jabtastic · 11/11/2024 21:14

Hello everyone just checking in. I'll be honest I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed at the minute. I'm still exhausted and feel low level depressed. No weight loss and I'm eating past the suppression. We were away overnight at a wedding and I felt like I ate and drank quite greedily.

I'm very disappointed to be honest. I had high hopes that this would work for me. My weight hasn't budged since week one and I'm on week 3 day 6. I know I should be calorie counting etc but I'm so exhausted I don't have the energy to cook and plan. I have fatigue as part of autoimmune disease but it is so much worse than usual and it's becoming really difficult to live with.

I'm contemplating quitting. I may give it one more month as I'm due to get the 5mg pen next week but I'm a bit afraid of side effects. If the fatigue doesn't improve I'm going to end up off work sick so it just won't be sustainable.

WeakAsIAm · 11/11/2024 21:31

@Jabtastic

Have you messaged on some of the other threads?

Not suggesting you're not welcome to post here asking stuff and chatting of course you are.

I just wonder if the other threads will have people who have been on MJ for longer and may be able to help with your worries.

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 11/11/2024 21:47

Hi Jabtastic I’m so sorry you’re having a rough time and feeling rubbish with a stalled start on MJ. It sounds like your other health condition has taken the forefront and swamped the effects of the starter dose, it is so hard balancing different health conditions. Perhaps the higher (therapeutic) dose might help you finally get the positive effects with suppression, weight loss, more stable blood sugar etc.

I also have autoimmune and the fatigue is debilitating at times, swamping brain, body, everything. Could you be in the midst of a flare up with your AI? I have learnt that stress, rubbish sleep and refined sugar are my worst enemies. Stress is hard to reduce when it is circumstantial (crap life stuff) but I find getting to bed earlier and trying to avoid high sugar stuff has helped me gradually combat the fatigue, as well as checking my meds with my GP to make sure med doseage is right.

You might find the effects of MJ improve when you go higher up the dose/s and the scales will start to shift. So hard to do life and anything with fatigue, rooting for you lovely and sending hugs x
