Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Wk1 D4 n the D has hit, also little interest I my usual GnT on a Sunday afternoon - which I see as a good thing.

N27 · 10/11/2024 17:29

Just marking a place as I’ll be taking first jab tonight. Will catch up on full thread once kids are in bed :)

Mrsredlipstick · 10/11/2024 17:37

@Odfod i started on a Monday. Bad D and V on day five. Nothing since. I've been well over the weekend and still don't feel that hungry. Jab 2 tomorrow.

@namechangedyetagain I’m definitely into soup at the moment - think it’s a combo of wanting something healthy but comforting and warm. I made a chicken soup yesterday which is super easy - it’s one my mum used to make based on a recipe from an old 80s diet book (The F- Plan!) - essentially add chopped leeks, onion, grated carrot, red split lentils and pearl barley (not essential but nice) to a pan. Add some chicken breast and pour over hot water / chicken stock. Bubble up for 45 mins or so. I remove the chicken breast and shred it, then add it back to the pot. It’s great with left over roast chicken / turkey too.

Just cooked myself some herby chicken soup with lentils - was lovely! I used the pre-mix veg soup for ease and added in chicken, stocks and herbs. The herb combo was nice and will have it again - bay leaves, thyme, parsley (was already in the veg soup mix) and rosemary.

For anyone interested in collagen I just received my order from WillPowders so added in a tablespoon to my bowl of soup (as per the suggested amount) and was as advertised Ie flavourless and mixed in completely - easy protein win!
It states that being added to hot liquids does not break down the collagen peptides (proteins) and is ‘bioavailable’ which I think means easy for our bodies to digest and absorb (new to all this! 😂) can see why adding it to tea/ coffee is an easy way to take it. I think I will start adding it to the odd cuppa

W1 D5 here and after thinking it wasn’t going to do anything at 2.5ml I am very happy now. I am loving feeling in control of what I am eating and drinking whilst still enjoying it.

I do have a question for the more experienced:
I have had zero side effects and have some work travel coming up over the next few weeks. Would it be unwise for me to jab a day early for the next two weeks to shift my dose day from a Wednesday to a Monday? I don’t want to end up feeling unwell, but it would be more more convenient and also don’t particularly want my colleagues to see my pen when we have our bags scanned before flying

PinkArt · 10/11/2024 18:18

I took my first dose on Friday night @Odfod as I had a meal planned that night with friends I've not seen in ages and didn't want to risk side effects. Friday is also my cheat day so I figured it its wearing off by the end of the week then it's not the end of the world if that's when it's least effective.
Touch wood I've been really lucky though and don't seem to have had any for the whole two days I've been on it.
For the sake of a few days it might be worth waiting until after the weekend. You might be fine but if you are a bit vommy that would suck.

AllstarFacilier · 10/11/2024 19:20

I’m about to do my second jab, and I’m a bit nervous. I keep reading about people getting d&v with it. I was fine this week, so I’m hoping to keep like that. I’m not so much scared of the s&l, but I work in a school so I can’t suddenly start leaving my class and running to the toilet if I need to go. And if I get it once, I’ll be scared it happens again the week after. I wouldn’t be able to call in twice with sickness when I’m doing it to myself. I’m looking forward to weighing myself though. I need to read the instructions on how to administer the second dose.

Bigsigh24 · 10/11/2024 19:30

First injection a couple of days ago, all okay, wonder though the 5mg double the cost of the 2.5 mg ? Seeing how it goes before the possibility of moving up x

AllstarFacilier · 10/11/2024 20:13

I’ve just done my second one. All went fine, didn’t feel it again. Bled a little last time but didn’t today.

I didn’t realise I’d closed my sharps bin last week. There are two holes, one was just an open one that you can tip things out of, and the other is shaped. I assumed the needles went in the shaped one and that I’d close up the other so they wouldn’t fall back out, but then today I’ve realised they don’t fit into the smaller hole. So I’ll probably have to buy another bin. What do you do with the bins when they’re full/no longer needed?

AllstarFacilier · 10/11/2024 20:13

Oh also I lost 4.5lbs lol

Pumpkinforever · 10/11/2024 20:23

Barely any alcohol this weekend as not interested in it. Went out last night on only had small portion, no start or pudding

Just watched Johann Harri, author of the Magic Pill, chat with Steve Bartlett really interesting. johann basically says he made the right choice for himself
, he lost 3 stone in a year. Diary of a CEO on YouTube.

ShaunaSadeki · 10/11/2024 20:28

The not being interested in alcohol thing is a revelation, I sipped a red wine last night and had a small spritz thing at DDs birthday today. I don’t always drink lots but it is usually an effort not to, same as eating! I love being not bothered

LimeLace · 10/11/2024 21:37

Hi, I did my first jab on Friday evening and primed the MJ pen beforehand. Do you have to prime the pen before every single dose?
Thank you.

FinallyOnTheUp · 10/11/2024 22:00

@AllstarFacilier I self-inject B12 and my local pharmacy takes my sharps bins without any issue, but I think it depends on area. Some councils will take them too

Hi LimeLace yes it needs to be primed every time, this insures there is no air in there when we inject and that the pen is working and ready to use.

I saw one video where they held the pen with the needle facing upwards and flicked the pen a little bit to make any air go up to the top before pressing in (and the little drop or two appearing)

Thanks FinallyOnTheUp I will check at my local pharmacy to see if they take sharps bins (otherwise I guess at the Gp surgery they might?)

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 11/11/2024 05:03

Anyone feeling rough on it ? I'm W2 D2 and today I would say my appetite has changed.

Lifted a yoghurt our fridge for breakfast ans cup of tea but didnt eat it, just didn't feel like it. Had to remind myself to drink my tea.

Had clear whey protein shake

Soup with slice bread, packet wotsits 🤦‍♀️

Dinner - roast chicken and corn on cob. Had broccoli and boiled potatoes but just didn't feel like them

Then about an hour later I felt really bloated / indigestion feeling. Sore tummy. Seemed to be positional in that it felt better when I lay on my tummy.

Took an omeprazole and paracetamol.

Felt slightly better then I was tidying up in kitchen and the smell of food made me smell nauseous 🤢 then I was sick.

I feel better now. Been making sure I've been sipping on water. Partner said he heard you shouldn't be drinking fizzy juice when on mounjaro ? Not sure if that's had anything to do with it.

Not gona lie though, whilst feeling unwell all I could think about was that poor woman who died. Obviously don't know the full circumstances, and theres risks associated with every medication but it's still a worry all the same 😪

Mrsredlipstick · 11/11/2024 06:50

Good morning all.
W2 D1 2kg off.
No toilet movement since Friday.

I didn't expect more as I haven't been eating enough veg.
I need to change my Yoghurts over to farg or similar. I've been eating the luxury ones. Too much sugar. It's not the calories for me but the balance. I cook every day (which I get fed up with). Must buy more portioned fish.
Will jab shortly.

jaromoun · 11/11/2024 07:58

finalised weigh in this morning of 86.1kg.
SW 89kg on 27 Oct one week before first jab.
happy with that as i've nudged under obese on bmi to overweight.
need the dulcolax though 😂

MamaorBruh · 11/11/2024 08:39

Week 2 D1
Weighed this morning and lost 6lb which I'm super happy with.
Will do my 2nd injection shortly.
Headaches finally went yesterday, but think that's probably the jab wearing off so I'll no doubt get them today.

BleachedJumper · 11/11/2024 08:44

Amazing loss @MamaorBruh well done!

Can I ask how long people are anticipating being on WLI? I know we obviously don’t have a crystal ball for the future, but do you think you’ll be on until you reach your goal weight, for life, or a limited period of time? I’m thinking as much as financially especially.

Mrsredlipstick · 11/11/2024 08:48

@BleachedJumper i am planing on six months.
I don't like extra meds. I rattle as it is. I've budgeted £1200. Posh handbag.
I use to be a drinker and I woukd have spent at least £50 on wine.

Thanks! I need to now do some exercise as appreciate the weight loss won't be the same every week, but if i can move more then that will help.

Honestly, I'm thinking at least 3 months, preferably 6 months.
It's just financial for me. If I can lose 2 stone in those 3 months, then I will see how I get on (have 3 stone to lose)
That's an average of 2lb a week, on top of my 6lb today.

jay55 · 11/11/2024 08:58

Injected third dose of 2.5 this morning, just .5 kg off this week. Might need to change to injecting on a Thursday to make weekends easier. I can control things better on weekdays drugs or not.

No bad side effects, still just the burps, no nausea, a little tired but not massively so.

Was impressed with myself at the weekend, Christmas drinks are out and I chose the spiced apple tea over a gingerbread latte. Did have some chocolate covered pretzels though but at 99cals for the tiny overpriced packet they're pretty good option.

Hope everyone has a good week.
