Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Just had my evening Greek yoghurt with seeds. I have been so good this week on my first week. Haven't had any chocolate / biscuits / sweets / cake / crisps. At all. Been eating usual dinner but smaller portions and an egg on seeded toast for lunch

If I haven't lost anything at my first weigh in tomorrow I'm going to be so depressed.

Anyone have any top tips for work lunches? I've been from home this week so able to cook. What can I take into work to eat? No one knows I'm on MJ apart from my dh, dm and my best friend.

Hi namechangedyetagain do you normally have seeds? I have been choosing them on stuff! Sprinkled on a rye bread cracker with cream cheese yesterday which I’ve never done before! 😂 lots of omega goodness there which is good. I wonder whether years of slimming world has conditioned me to avoid them, and nuts, as they are high in ‘syns’. Very liberating to actively want them knowing they are actually good nutrition and not feel bad about it.

Re work lunches - soup? I’ve bought a pre chopped soup mix from Sainsbury’s and some chicken to add to it, going to cook it today or tomorrow. Chicken salad (with seeds! 😁), frittata, sandwich with protein ie egg, chicken, tuna etc

OliviaFlaversham · 09/11/2024 08:46

Just about to do second injection as first was last Saturday morning. Had huge bout of diarrhoea last night with nausea for the first time. Have lost a stone this week.

namechangedyetagain · 09/11/2024 08:49

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo no I don't usually have seeds but I do love them, pumpkin and sunflower especially. Husband has granola in his yoghurt (just standard shop bought with raisin and almonds) this also sounds nice.

Going to have a go at making soup tomorrow something lentil based maybe.

Do feel hungry this morning so might have a banana before I head out with the kids.

namechangedyetagain · 09/11/2024 08:50

Wow! @OliviaFlaversham a stone in a week! That's amazing 👏

bananasplice · 09/11/2024 08:54

Well done @OliviaFlaversham that is great,

I am about to go and do the weekly weigh and 3rd injection. Will update in a bit :)

rocketgal · 09/11/2024 09:03

Wow a stone in a week is amazing!!

I've definitely got the suppression now and the diarrhoea has stopped 🙌🏻 I'm still having some sweet treats but my calories are massively down so I guess that's why the scales are still going down.

I also never find it that difficult to be good during the week, it's the weekends where I struggle and over eat so I'm thinking it'll be the consistency of eating less that (hopefully) will make this work for me.

MamaorBruh · 09/11/2024 09:40

My headache is still there, hasn't really changed much but if that's my only side effect then I'm going with it for now as I really didn't want the nausea as I had that during my pregnancies and it was awful.

Day 6 today, had a small glass of wine last night but didn't fancy much else.
Feeling hungry this morning.

Mrsredlipstick · 09/11/2024 09:44

Morning all. The D and V has stopped.

I've been active on the doom and gloom thread re the very sad passing of a GP1 user, Ms McGowan. Don't read it if you'll get upset. There are some hideous people spouting utter nonsense.
We all know these drugs have risks. We all know you have to be obese to take them.
A lot of the backlash is coming from those who peddle unsustainable diets and exercise regimes.
One poster said her daughters were being influenced by celebrities. She needs to be doing a better job of monitoring the utter nonsense her DC are reading. My DD would say that anyone with a bmi of 18 taking these meds needs a shrink (she's a trainee shrink!).

bananasplice · 09/11/2024 10:04

Sw 93.6kg
Week 1 91.3 kg. - 5 lbs
Week 2 90.0 kg - 3 lbs

3.6kg loss in 2 weeks is not too bad at all.
I think that I am not eating enough, although I am not hungry I need to try to get more food in.
I had two people at work come up to me yesterday to say had I lost weight so that was nice.
I would really like to get into the 80 something kg next week as that would be a huge psychological breakthrough
About to do third jab and go for a dog walk :)

Goldleafcat · 09/11/2024 10:22

@OliviaFlaversham A stone is incredible! How are you feeling? Sorry to hear about the D&V. I’ve completely avoided it so far but wondering how I will feel when I move up to 5mg / higher doses when the time comes.

Do you think the D&V is related to the Mounjaro or coincidence as it was almost a week since the injection?

(I’ve so much to learn about all of this!)

Goldleafcat · 09/11/2024 10:26

@namechangedyetagain I’m definitely into soup at the moment - think it’s a combo of wanting something healthy but comforting and warm. I made a chicken soup yesterday which is super easy - it’s one my mum used to make based on a recipe from an old 80s diet book (The F- Plan!) - essentially add chopped leeks, onion, grated carrot, red split lentils and pearl barley (not essential but nice) to a pan. Add some chicken breast and pour over hot water / chicken stock. Bubble up for 45 mins or so. I remove the chicken breast and shred it, then add it back to the pot. It’s great with left over roast chicken / turkey too.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 09/11/2024 10:28

SW - 85.5kg

WK1 W - 82kg - down 3.5kg - (7.7lbs)

Total lost (on mounjaro) - 3.5kg (7.7lbs)

End of week one. Just done week 2 dose. I hope I start to get some suppression. I thought I had some at beginning of week, but couldn't stop thinking about food past 2 days. In all honesty, i think weight loss this week is down to being back on strict, high protein low carb diet and nanaged to get back to the gym - 2 classes one gym session.

Obviously most of weight will be water weight so will see how it progresses over time. Hopefully it does 🤞

BleachedJumper · 09/11/2024 12:27

Im not sure if this is from the WLI or just a coincidence but I’ve developed a few mouth ulcers this week. Has anyone else had this?

AllstarFacilier · 09/11/2024 13:02

W1D6 - will inject again tomorrow night

I’m cold today, but that’s not unusual for me anyways. Went out for pizza last night which I was a bit worried about and actually managed to eat most of the pizza, brought two slices home for lunch and I’ve just had those. I didn’t feel sickly stuffed with it, and I haven’t all week, but I’m also not feeling hungry ever either. I’d quite like it if it carried on like that to be honest. I’d like to still eat when and what I wanted but not have hunger.

I’m feeling now like I should eat, even though I’ve just had lunch, but it’s boredom. I’ve not got anything else on today, and I’m already thinking about what to have for tea. Through the week, work keeps me busy and we have gousto meals so I know how many calories I’ll be having that night, but then I don’t like not having a meal plan for the night as I could end up just shoving something frozen into the oven and it being high in cals.

Bisognodelsole · 09/11/2024 13:30

BleachedJumper · 09/11/2024 12:27

I’ve had a mouth ulcer too. Don’t usually suffer from them so maybe a side effect

namechangedyetagain · 09/11/2024 14:44

Just done second jab (thigh this time) and managed to make myself bleed. Sure I'll get the hang of it eventually!
Really don't know what to eat today, no idea what I fancy at all.

IHateMozzies · 09/11/2024 14:52

Went for a coffee this morning and my son didn’t drink his hot chocolate. Of course my will power didn’t set in and drank his as well as mine! Wow my tummy felt so full afterwards, I felt a bit sick. Only managed a banana for lunch and still full to the brim.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 09/11/2024 15:28

I’m W3D4 and I’ve been experiencing low level nausea for the past few days. Not like I’ll be sick or bad enough that I can’t eat at all but there, kind of like early pregnancy. It makes it hard to pick good foods as I could just fancy plain carbs like toast or a biscuit.

OliviaFlaversham · 09/11/2024 15:34

@Goldleafcat I think the diarrhoea could be unrelated as it was the night before second dose but not entirely sure. I’m wondering if I can take my next injection the day before it is due so I have the hungry last day of the week at work rather than the weekend when I am more likely to boredom eat…

Beccs79 · 09/11/2024 15:52

I took my first jab last Sunday and I've been fine, very little in the way of side effects, a bit light headed, a day of sulphur burps and the occasional headache (which could be down to the sudden lack of sugar and caffeine) and the food suppression has been amazing. I WFH and would always be reaching for a snack, ie crisps / chocolate etc This week has been a total turnaround - not had a single "treat" been having with Greek yog nuts & fruit for lunch or chicken and a smaller version of my normal tea. Caffeine consumption right down, I used to drink 4/5 cups of strong coffee a day easily. No desire for wine or beer either which is really not like me. 3kg down this week.

So all in all it's been such a transformation. Not just the weight lost but making better choices such as less coffee and drinking more water. So, I why am I terrified of taking the next injection tomorrow? Like ridiculously so, my anxiety is up the wall. I know a big part of it is down to that poor lady who died. Does anyone else feel this way? Or do I just need to pull myself together.

Dreamqueen · 09/11/2024 17:40

Week 2, day 3. i woke up thinking about food and what to eat. That's pretty normal for me. Scrambeld eggs (3) for breakfast and a mini wrap with cheese no butter at lunch because `i was taking grandaughter out for the afternoon and didn't wnat to eat any snacks. Wow! back home and absolutely no desire fr any dinner! Thats never happened to me before in 64 years I'm sure. i've made dinner for her and DH. Admittedly I'm having a glass of wine but this is so out of my normal behaviour. Usually I'd be having a bottle of wine and a big dinner.

i had thought that i'd had no supression on week 2 but it seems to kick in in the afternoon which is my danger time. Once i'd started snacking then that was it for the day.
i feel much smaller even though the scales don't register a big loss. It's a long time since i've reached day 10 on any plan. I did Cambridge a couple of years ago and was miserable and cheated on it. I'm so happy I could cry.

LeanneJP · 09/11/2024 18:28

Day 2, lost 2lbs the first day 👍 out for lunch today, had a huge salad and couldn’t finish it and now still not hungry. No desire for bread, wine, chocolate, all the usual stuff I struggle to avoid. Feeling very positive. Bit of a dry mouth this morning on waking up but so far no side effects 🙏🏼

Whatsnextforus · 09/11/2024 18:29

I’ve just done my first jab. All straightforward - but feeling v nervous! And hopeful

PinkArt · 09/11/2024 19:47

I'm only on day 1, as I jabbed last night, but haven't snacked at all on a cold and slightly hungover Saturday, which is unheard of. I didn't eat anything until about 3 as I wasn't feeling remotely hungry and was curious to see if that would eventually pass and it didn't. Stir fry for dinner and I'm not bothered at the moment about having anything sweet after, again unheard of. Feels like I'm off to a good start.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 09/11/2024 19:50

D3 W1

What's suppression supposed to feel like?

This morning I didn't feel "hungry" but I knew I needed to eat as I felt "empty" IYSWIM

I'm not getting cravings and I havent been wanting to snack but I've been able to eat all my meals as normal.

I thought suppression would limit how much I can eat? Or am I wrong?
