November Mounjaro Starters

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:
andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 09:26

I've just done my dusty jab and feel... urgh I don't know. My hand was shaking so much and I was so worried I was putting too much in - that endless clicking back and pushing in - felt a bit much. I am properly freaking out. So sorry to take the positive chat in this direction. I have no one else to off load on obviously. Have I done a terrible thing?

andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 09:30

I mean "first" jab, not dusty! 😂

Mrsredlipstick · 08/11/2024 09:33

Just had the d and v folks and it was horrid.

Notadream · 08/11/2024 09:35

Hey, @andfinally10 I certainly felt a little flustered when I did my first jab and also felt immediately like I'd done something terrible, it's the fear of the unknown right 😊welcome along for the ride, I've checked in on this chat every evening to keep me sane as I've not shared with anyone that I'm taking it. It's such a support so keep posting here if you need to someone will always be around to help.

andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 09:38

Thank you so much. I am feeling a bit calmer than I was 10 mins ago... work emails have distracted me. But I just feel a bit weird suddenly - why have I done this to myself, why can't I just loose weight alone without medication. Urghj I don't know, suddenly feels a bit extreme.
Also - I haven't told anyone, not my best friends nor my husband. I don't know what they'd think. And I don't hide anything, I never have. So that aspect is also freaking me out. I need to get a grip clearly! Thank you x

ProudCoralBear · 08/11/2024 09:40

Just did my first official weigh in for end of week one and I’m down 3.4 KG which is around 7lbs I’m so pleased! Hope everyone else is having a good week and not feeling too poorly.

morbidcuriosity · 08/11/2024 09:44

@andfinally10 it does feel wierd the first jab, felt like loads going in as you say, the dialing back of the pen end seemed huge.. but after a while it just gets easier.. in a few weeks you will be thinking why did I want so long to Start.
I started August and nearly 3 Stone down and just wish I had started sooner..

Good luck, little tip, stick to the 2.5 for at least 4 weeks, I keep reading people saying they took more on week 3 etc as didn't think it was working and them being very ill..

andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 09:47

Thanks @morbidcuriosity Reading all the positive threads and as you say "I wish I'd done it sooner" post was what made me finally decide to take the plunge. I'll calm down and once I've had time to reflect I'm sure the positivity will come back in. I sure as hell don't want to be overweight for the rest of my life. I'm using this as a tool to help me sort out proper healthy eating long term. Maybe if I'm honest, also using it as a temp quick boost to get me going too. But I think thanks ok....

morbidcuriosity · 08/11/2024 09:51

It's great. And I am now so much more focused on what foods to eat, how to get protein and fibre etc into my diet.. never in my life did I think I would eat bran flakes, but now I enjoy them with high protein natural yoghurt .
I like the thoughts of what can I eat that's good and making lots of new things with veg etc..

andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 09:56

That's exactly what I am hoping for. I want to nourish myself properly not dip between shoving handfuls of crisps into my mouth one day then thin strips of tofu the next. I just want to be consistent with healthy, nourishing foods. A normal eater!

jaromoun · 08/11/2024 09:59

i'm having a bit of a wobble as read the bbc news story about the woman who died on the injection. i won't post the link but it's easy enough to find.
it's made me a bit nervous.

andfinally10 · 08/11/2024 10:00

Oh no! I'm not going to google that. Gosh I'm so sorry to have freaked out everyone!

Quitelikeit · 08/11/2024 10:19

Does anyone have any experience of nausea and lethargy on this?

Its really bothering me now - week 2 - not present in week 1

i haven't told a soul either. well except my GP. i am considering confiding in my adult daughter just as a safety net but she doesn't live close by so not sure if that is useful.

Eek I’ve just read that. A bit worrying. But there are so many people using Mounjaro hopefully it really is a rare event.

3 stone is amazing! Please could I ask if you do the ‘bonus dose’ thing that I’ve been reading about on here? I’ve ordered some syringes for when the time comes (and if I have enough left in the pen!) but still a bit unclear on how to take it

jaromoun · 08/11/2024 10:49

@Goldleafcat i agree the data is misleading as it doesn't show the issues in relation to the total number taking it

morbidcuriosity · 08/11/2024 11:12

@Goldleafcat yes I take the bonus dose, I'm all about getting my moneys worth. So I did 5 2.5mg out of 1st pen then went up to 5mg, didn't do a half dose or anything. I'm still on 5mg and have my 3rd pen of it for my next too.
I used the hard twist method as I didn't waste a lot priming so knew I would get a full dose.
Just did the pen the same was, pop needle on end, prime them start turning to 1, after a few clicks it stops so you just have to force it round. It will feel like your breaking it.
I am tempted to get some syringes as if the hard twist fails or I do break the pen I don't want to waste the liquid, but done 2 hard twist bonus now and worked both times.

I’ve felt a bit sick this morning but nothing too bad….the tiredness on the other hand is a killer! Last two nights I’ve fell asleep on the sofa! Can’t keep my eyes open.

PinkArt · 08/11/2024 11:55

I'm doing my first jab later tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm out for dinner tonight so didn't want to take it before then in case of side effects.
I've done my regular Friday weight in and also taken some painfully honest photos and measurements, to track progress that way too.
SW: 19s9 (I am mortified even sharing this with strangers)
GW: First target is 17s13, which is where I was this time last year. I have a lot of lose and my actual goal feels so far off that I'm taking it in more manageable chunks.

BrownJenkins · 08/11/2024 13:39

I got on the scales this morning. I have put 1.5kg on. The only thing I can think is it must be water weight. No way have I eaten enough of anything to cause a gain of so much, so quickly.

Yep, I'm finding this in week two. Today I've felt pretty sick and tired which I'm sure is down to MJ. On the other hand, the suppression is back!

Jabtastic · 08/11/2024 14:44

I'm finding the fatigue very difficult if I'm honest. I have autoimmune disease so fatigue is a symptom but this feels different. It actually feels like a kind of low level depression which is very out of character. I'm not sure I'm going to continue but I have a week or so to decide.

Editing to say even if I don't continue it has been useful to break some bad habits of overeating in the evenings. I'm hoping it has done a mental reset at least.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 08/11/2024 14:52

Please will you share what you have found helpful for nausea? Thanks
