November Mounjaro Starters

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:
Babyboomer60 · 07/11/2024 19:21

Has anyone had Mounjouro prescribed by their GP or have bought online?

AllstarFacilier · 07/11/2024 19:27

@Babyboomer60 I think most on here have bought online

WeakAsIAm · 07/11/2024 19:56

@Babyboomer60 yeah self funded here too.

So W2 D2 and back to work this week so my routine is different. Last week I was waiting until I was hungry to start eating but this week I've been having breakfast before I leave for work.
I was worried because I can't always guarantee to get food at set times at work and I don't want to get hungry and eat something bad.
Anyway not sure it's helping as I'm now eating 3 meals a day instead of 2 last week wondering if that's going to slow down my loss.
Working from home today so eaten when I felt hungry, got to 2pm and decided to eat just some chicken though. Then just started to feel hungry around 7ish.
Had a drink of fizzy pop yesterday for the first time since starting and got immediate heart burn so lesson learned there.
Managed to hit a blood vessel on my second injection as I bled a little when I took out the needle and I'm now sporting a lovely large bruise.
Other than the dreaded constipation and occasional heart burn I've not had any other side effects so far so good.
Think I'm going to start looking at where to order my next pen from. I ordered from pharmacy2u but won't get a discount from them I should imagine.
Keep on keeping on everyone we're doing this.

LeanneJP · 07/11/2024 19:56

Just did my first injection! Feel nervous but know I need to do this. I’ve put on 4 stone in 8 years, want to lose at least 3. My BMI is currently 32.6, I’m in the throes of menopause, constantly tired, sluggish, body hurts, always hungry and nothing is working. Fingers crossed x

WeakAsIAm · 07/11/2024 19:57

Oh and a little NSV last night managed to get my wedding ring off for the first time in about 12 months.

sweetheartyparty · 07/11/2024 20:18

W1D3 and I feel like mounjaro has stopped working. After 2 days of suppressed appetite, I've been fairly hungry today. It's not as bad as before but feel the effects wearing off.
Other than some bloating on the 1st day and mild constipation, it's going pretty well.

BleachedJumper · 07/11/2024 20:45

Amazing to hear people’s results, @Cakeybake a stone, wow!

I can join a few of you in the feeling cold camp, I’ve been wearing my fluffy onesie an awful lot recently.

ProudCoralBear · 07/11/2024 21:08

Day 6 today and can’t believe how well it’s going. I have been feeling a bit sad that I waited so long to start which I know is silly. My suppression seems to have increased as the weeks gone on I just don’t think about food any more it’s bizarre. When I do eat, I know I could still eat loads as I still don't get the full feeling. I just can stop now because I’ve had my portion, I could never stop before. Really excited to weigh and have my second injection tomorrow.

rocketgal · 07/11/2024 21:25

Diarrhoea still going on over here 🙈 seems most of you on here have been suffering the other way! Not sure what I could do to help with it? I had egg on toast for dinner as wasn't hungry but that set me off again!

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 07/11/2024 22:10

BrownJenkins · 07/11/2024 16:14

The dreaded constipation has returned 😒I'm feeling quite victimised. I've also felt so very cold today. Normally I'm the person in summer wear in the depths of winter. At the moment I look like I'm heading off to the arctic on an expedition 😁

Hi BrownJenkins (and anyone else struggling with constipation symptoms)
I have just found you can now get Laxido over the counter - Superdrug sell it:
https://www.superdrug.com/health/stomach-bowel/laxatives/laxido-orange-laxative-sachets-30s/p/781378

Grab yourself a pack! Honestly it is good stuff! V gentle on the system and effective. I take between 1 1/2 - 2 sachets per day.

(I mentioned earlier up the thread I’ve been on these powders (Macrogol) for many years, over 10 years, hands down find it the best for constipation)

Oh and a little NSV last night managed to get my wedding ring off for the first time in about 12 months.

Well done! Love a NSV 👏

I'm hoping to get mine back on, haven't worn it since I was last pregnant and that baby is now 5!

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 07/11/2024 23:03

Cakeybake - You absolute rock star, what an amazing start! 👏 you’ve truly gone and blazed the Mounjaro trail for the rest of us! 🤩

McZeba & Mulhollandmagoo - yay well done and onwards and downwards from here! :)

Icanthinkformyselfthanks - I hope the waiting isn’t too hard, won’t be long til you can dive in. I was so surprised how painless it was

Pumpkinforever- yeah I plan to do the same, weigh weekly on jab day. Is tempting to hop on, but will try to resist! Think will be more motivating to see weekly changes rather fluctuations in dailies

IHateMozzies - it feels good to get the first jab done doesn’t it? :) same here, first day didn’t feel hungry or full. One slight dizzy moment and a bit of nausea mid afternoon on the way to school pick up.

TorturedParentsDepartment - loving the giant avo print hoodie! 😂 needs must if you feels the chills. 🥑 🥑

DarkForces - well done and I hope your day 3 went well despite the nausea. I wonder if MJ’ers further on have found anything that helps with this? I’ve seen ginger candies for morning sickness, but didn’t fancy the sugary ones (as want to reduce blood sugar spikes) and thought the artificial sweetener ones might be a bit funny on the tum. I heard ginger tea can help, hope you have a more settled day tomorrow.

redavocado - very well done, that’s a great loss! 👏 maybe the food noise is a bit random on the lower dose until we’ve got up to a therapeutic dose? Hope you have a better day tomorrow food noise wise . Same to you too HappyPoster a great loss, v encouraging! 🩷

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets - hmm is early days yet so might just take a bit of time to get used to it as a new med. The effects will probably start to feel more pronounced as the weeks go by and going up doses etc. Hope you have a good day tomorrow and find your way out of the cabinets soon.. 😁

Sorry about the monthly sabotage Goldleafcat. It does sound like the dreaded bloat was to blame but well done on your loss so far that is still great, especially in pms week (normally a total write off for me! 😅)

Great going MissingDietCoke! A brilliant start and here’s to more weeks like it for all of us 🩷

Mulhollandmagoo · 07/11/2024 23:03

winersrollingin · 07/11/2024 10:40

Good luck all- I am 5 weeks in and have stepped on the scales and am done 7.7Kg- so one stone and nearly 3lbs. It takes me from BMI 30.8 to 28.2.

If you aren't sure whether to do It I hugely recommend!! As for provider I really recommend MedExpress as they send more needles so you can get that bonus extra dose out of your pen. I have just received my first order from them and they send six whereas Voy who I went with first sent only 4. I had to purchase extra needles to get that bonus dose but wouldn't have had to if I'd have gone with Medexpress to start

They have a discount code/top cashback offer on your first purchase too!

Kialla · 07/11/2024 23:03

Jab number 3 today, 6.1kg down which feels a bit insane. Into the next stone bracket down and I haven't seen that one in a while. I suspect it will slow down now and I'll need to try not to get disheartened.

Almost at my pre-DS weight for the first time since getting pregnant in Dec 2018. Realising how much time it's been has slightly horrified me but definitely helping with the motivation.

Still no side effects to get overly worked up about. The odd mild headache and feeling really cold in the evenings. Currently under 2 duvets.

After today's dose at 9am, I've had absolutely no inclination to eat. I forced down some chicken and a yoghurt for dinner but I think I think I could have easily not bothered. I'm still lifting weights so need to be careful that I'm getting enough calories and protein on gym days at least.

Kialla · 07/11/2024 22:36

Well done! Love a NSV 👏

I'm hoping to get mine back on, haven't worn it since I was last pregnant and that baby is now 5!

Same here, I have been wearing an imposter for 6 years, a plain cheap silver band. I call it my fedding ring (aka fake wedding ring) 🫠

DarkForces · 08/11/2024 06:16

I'm finding it hard to know how much to eat so am eating more than I need to simply to avoid hunger r properly setting in. I guess I've got used to not listening to my body so hoping to work on that.

My sleep is messed up thanks to dh snoring so not exercising much but will try and get out on a decent walks tomorrow.

Not fancied alcohol since I've started and sugar cravings have hugely reduced.

The sickness is ok, there but manageable.

Very glad to have started on the journey back to a healthy weight.

HammerbarnSausage · 08/11/2024 06:20

Just did my 2nd jab and weigh in. I'm amazed how well my body is tolerating this medicine, I've had very few side affects, just feeling tired (but I always have so not sure) very mild waves of short lived nausea. No digestive issues so far thank goodness.
I haven't been calorie counting or anything just eating fairly normally, my appetite is reduced but not significantly. The main thing for me is that I have not had any booze all week and not craved it at all. This is huge for me coming out of alcohol addiction / binge drinking.

I'm down 2.7kg (6 pounds) in a week.

Congrats on everyone's losses and hanging in there.

WeakAsIAm · 08/11/2024 06:47

@Kialla

That's my next goal, get my engagement ring back on. I haven't seen that one for many years Blush

Mrsredlipstick · 08/11/2024 07:14

Morning all.
I'm another one who wants to wear her rings again.
I ve been married 36 years next week and I keep getting asked my title as I don't wear a ring.
I was very hungry last night so I had some toast. As soon as I eat the burps go. I have a session booked with VOY today. I missed the intro so I've been told I can't miss this.
My family are not very supportive. Mainly as I lost a lot of weight on my own and nearly died this year. They think I'm being ungrateful.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 08/11/2024 07:32

Anyone else had delayed suppression? I still feel no different. Woke up ravenous this morning. Currently demolishing a bowl of cereal and a banana.

BleachedJumper · 08/11/2024 07:46

@CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets I think the way I’m trying to approach the investment is by hopefully making better diet choices in conjunction with the WLI. If I do feel hungry, firstly to have 500ml of water, and then reaching for protein like babybels or chicken slices, and then fibre like an apple or kiwi fruit.

I know for me, a bowl of cereal is 1) seriously hard to portion control! And 2) not going to satiate me particularly nutritionally. I’m fully aware we’re all on an individual journey though and will have different side effects and lifestyles that we need to balance alongside the injections.

I'm also trying to do healthier.

Cereal for me is always weetabix and banana (for my bowels 😂) so fairly easy to portion control.

The thing I struggle most with with weight loss is the hunger. I was hoping for suppression and to get rid of the noise to help me lose a bug chunk of the 10st I need to shift.

Zero suppression for me too. I’m going to bed hungry! I just feel like I am at the start of a diet. I usually have an about 6 weeks of iron clad will power and lose a stone and start to slip, so I guess it will have definitely kicked in by then.

moogdroog · 08/11/2024 08:51

Can I join too? Literally just jabbed myself for the first dose, though it arrived a couple of days ago, but I was feeling pretty rotten from my period, so waited a bit.
I'm 46 and in now or never mode.
Starting weight is 13 st 13lb
Not sure of my goal weight.

Pumpkinforever · 08/11/2024 09:01

I am another who wants to be able to wear her rings again. They have been sat in their boxes for years!

@HammerbarnSausage that is a great loss👏🏻

@Kialla 6kg👏🏻

I will totally pumped if I can fall into the next stone bracket in a few weeks but I need to lose 12lbs / 5kg for that.

Love hearing people’s weight loss.

i read a Boy George article yesterday where he said something like everyone who is fat one year and skinny the next is taking weight loss injections. Going from fat to tubby will make me happy, at my age I think the skinny boat has sailed.
