November Mounjaro Starters

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Can I join too? I did my first injection on Monday afternoon.

Monday weight: 83.3kg
CW (day 3!): 82.1kg
GW: 64kg

I have eaten far less than normal today and yesterday. Easily kept it under 1400 Cala, which I normally struggle to do.

No side effects at all.

Today I am feeling guilty that I'll never loose the weight, and I think it's because I always feel guilty when I feel full. I feel very full despite not eating much today, and that full feeling is making me feel guilty.

The "food noise" hasn't gone away. I use food as an excuse to avoid other tasks, so my urges to go and fetch some food are absolutely still there, but I am too full to eat, and so don't actually go. I suppose I might forget this distraction technique in time?

I am amazed that I am feeling full so quickly after starting the medicine. I thought it'd take a week or more to feel the effects, but I am definitely stuffed now, after eating only 500 Cals so far today (and that never happens!).

I’m with Numan and will have to change unless I can keep signing people up for the £100 discount.
I was only going to tell my best friend, but told DH expecting massive disapproval but he was fine. I figured if it works, he is going to notice me eating like a bird instead of a pig

rocketgal · 06/11/2024 16:23

I've had a headache all day today as well and feel very washed out. Trying to keep drinking water to help shift it!

redavocado · 06/11/2024 16:36

Today is week one, day seven. I can tell tomorrow is jab day, I'm so much hungrier today! A sneak peak tells me I've lost 4lb since last Thursday and I'm happy with that! I feel like I'm making better food choices and I don't feel as bloated as usual from snacking all the time. I really looking forward to the rest of this journey!

ShaunaSadeki · 06/11/2024 17:47

Hope the headaches go away for everyone suffering!

imanidiotsandwich · 06/11/2024 18:45

Still very tired and cold!
Might have to look at getting some protein shakes or something as I don't think I'm having g enough

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 06/11/2024 18:55

Well, it arrived today and is sat in the fridge. Worried about side effects. Should a prepare my gut by eating clean for a few days or have others not done that and it's been fine?

Day 7 for me too. Food noise much better but not gone. Still thinking about food but it's now about planning what I eat at each meal rather than just eating what I want.

I didn’t. In fact I ate a load of crisps which are my biggest challenge. I’m sure this is not advisable though!

I haven’t had any side effects (except feeling very cold) but only started on Saturday morning.

BrownJenkins · 06/11/2024 19:36

@CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets I didn't eat any differently before my injection. I think it's so easy to overthink things. I too was worried about possible side effects but just bit the bullet and got on with it. Only side effect I've had has been constipation, easily rectified with laxatives. Definitely drink lots of water, helps in lots of ways.

FinallyOnTheUp · 06/11/2024 19:40

My first pen was meant to be delivered yesterday before 1pm, but Royal Mail have messed up and they still have it, with no new delivery date given. I've messaged MedExpress to see if this will affect whether the pen can still be used or not, but haven't heard back yet. Does anyone here know?

Cakeybake · 06/11/2024 20:04

W1 D7 for me, will do the second jab tomorrow morning, so far no side effects apart from a bit of constipation. I've had good food suppression all week but also been really mindful of what I have chosen for my meals, so small portions, low carb, high protein. Haven't counted calories as such but I know it's much much lower than before and haven't been tempted to snack at all, even when everyone around me is munching on treats. I'm drinking loads of water, around 3 litres a day.
Will weigh-in in the morning.
Hoping that I won't get any side effects with dose 2 tomorrow.

IHateMozzies · 06/11/2024 20:23

My first pen arrived today and I’ve had it tonight. Husband is T1 diabetic so helped me with the pen!

First goal is 9lbs go get me under 15 stone, then I would like to get to the stone before Christmas. Good luck everyone.

Once opened you don’t need to keep in the fridge and it can be used for 30 days so I. think it should be okay but best to check.

FinallyOnTheUp · 06/11/2024 21:02

@IHateMozzies Thank you 🙂

2catsand2kids · 06/11/2024 21:06

Well my plan to start this week has been thwarted by Medexpress rejecting me. Despite having a bmi of over 30 and needing to lose over three stone to get my bmi under 25 they have said I didn’t look obese enough in the picture I uploaded (whilst I would normally take that as a compliment it is a little frustrating in this circumstance). I am now going to have to apply through a different supplier and hope I don’t get rejected again.

AllstarFacilier · 06/11/2024 21:10

I know you don’t have to keep it in the fridge once opened, but is it ok to? I assumed it was more important to put it in the fridge after opening, so whacked it back in.

Also, how many cals a day are people having? I’m doing 1450, but seeing people having 500 is making me think I’m not low enough?

Methemummy · 06/11/2024 21:17

Looking forward to joining everyone. I have just been approved today by medexpress so hoping to have the pen in the next few days.

I work from home and so have been slowly becoming more amd more idle. Something I know needs to change.

Had a shock when i got on the scales recently. BMI Currently 38, i have always weighed heavy, even as a child but this the most i've weighed. I come from a family where bariatric treatments are common. Hoping to avoid that if possible.

I eat fairly healthily but portion control is my weakness, I live with 3 very active teen boys, so big portions is common.

SW 101kg
GW 82kg

I'm hoping posting on here will keep me accountable.

Selkie9 · 06/11/2024 21:19

@AllstarFacilier yes kept in the fridge is fine! I checked the Mounjaro website.

And as long as you are losing weight on 1450 cals then great. 500 cals is super low and there's no way you would be getting enough nutrition on a daily basis! I keep thinking what it will be like when I come off the medication and slowly start eating 'normally' again. 500 cals would be impossible to sustain

ThatJollyGoldBird · 06/11/2024 21:50

Hey Everyone, I am new here.

I started the injections last weekend and find it really good so far. Weighed myself this morning and I have lost 3lb, I don’t know if it’s a good thing or should I have lost more?

Notadream · 06/11/2024 21:58

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 05/11/2024 14:22

I can’t say I’ve had that issue but I’ve been using the Will Powders collagen just to try and stave off loose skin as I hopefully lose weight but I’ve already noticed a big change in my facial skin, which surprised me.

Willpowders fan over here too, my hair and nails have been growing like wild fire, not a Spring chicken though and my skin still looks dull. I'm D6 today and I woke up to deep dark circles under my eyes which I have never suffered, hoping its not jab related.

BrownJenkins · 06/11/2024 22:09

@FinallyOnTheUp It should be fine. Everything is so well packed, can't imagine it getting anywhere near the 30 degrees cut off temperature.

@2catsand2kids Were you wearing tight fitting clothes? I know someone who took their photo in just bra and pants. Good luck with a different supplier.

@Methemummy Hopefully once you inject you'll not want or be able to eat big portions.

@ThatJollyGoldBird 3lbs is a good start. I've lost 7lbs in just under 3 weeks. Of course I wanted it to be more but at least it's coming off.

sammyxo1 · 06/11/2024 22:11

Hi all, I got my jabs on Sunday and I'm still trying to bring myself to do it. DH had a job interview on Tuesday so didn't take it mon/tues as I would have been alone with 3 kids and thought If I'm sicky it would be awful. I then went to brunch today with a friend and tmrw morning I'm taking my mum to a hospital appt. Are all these genuine reasons to not start it or am I making excuses 😭. I think ultimately I'm scared of starting it and then a) it failing ( as I'm not a big eater anyway so why would it work) b) I like eating food, I don't snack much and eat full meals I feel like I would miss it

Try Cloud Pharmacy, I bought from there without photos. I have a similar bmi to yours- 2-3 stone will bring my body fat down to a healthy range and & significantly change my shape.

BrownJenkins · 06/11/2024 22:31

@sammyxo1 Only you know if you're making excuses. I was a bag of nerves before taking my first injection, got so fed up of being a wuss, just got on with it and was fine. My biggest problem was snacking in the evenings, very rarely want to do that now. Big breath and dive right in. You can do this.
