Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Day 5 here

All has been fine aside from some waves of nausea

I’m confused about those complaining about being hungry - surely it’s ok to feel hungry? 😂😂

I have been eating what I usually do but in smaller portions

I haven’t started calorie counting etc because I can’t be bothered to do that and hoped the jab would replace the need to do that!

I haven’t had my usual cravings for takeaways and when I have - the thoughts just bounce away somehow 😂 sounds crazy!

BrownJenkins · 02/11/2024 20:49

As I've said, once or twice before 😁 I haven't had any side effects. The strangest thing though is since taking the laxative my breath has stank of eggs. I'm a real burping betty, most unusual. I'm actually struggling to eat, not that I'm complaining.

OliviaFlaversham · 02/11/2024 22:46

Can someone give me a virtual shake or talking to.

Reading online info and others’ experiences have given me such high expectations that I am now feeling so deflated. From day one ‘immediate’ appetite suppression is said to happen. I’m end of day one, constantly thinking of crisps and hungry. I’m spiralling into that ‘it won’t work for me, I’ll be fat forever’ place. It isn’t that I expected it to be a miracle drug but I did believe I would also get the suppression and less food noise.

Snozzlemaid · 02/11/2024 22:53

You are not supposed to have suppression from day one. 2.5mg is not a therapeutic dose, it's to get a gradual build up of the meds in your body.
Some people are extremely lucky to get results in the first week, but lots don't.
Try to be patient, give it time and trust it.
It really is far too early to say it's not working for you.
Keep going, it will be worth it.

I think there is a certain amount of personal alchemy with it!

I had great suppression in W1, then much less at the start of W2. I have good-ish suppression but food noise is banging at the door, and I'm trying to ignore it.

It's taken 3 days for food noise/suppression to kick in on W2 for me. You might wake up tomorrow and feel it working. My bet is that you're reporting success within a couple of days. Good luck.

Hello, please may I come along for the ride? I started yesterday, I took the jab in the morning and felt completely normal all day, i have a little thyroid issue which gives me a strange heartburn sensation and that has elevated a little but not awful. I had a gurgling tummy from about 3am to 6am with what felt like period pains/and a gripey tummy also. I'm peri so not sure if i will be getting a period this month or not. Today haven't felt like i don't want to eat, but i am nervous now about over eating as i don't want to feel uncomfortable like last night. Have been drinking more water, and have had some ginger tea as i felt a little icky a few hours back. Hoping that will be it for the side effects this week.

Sketcho · 02/11/2024 23:50

Both times I've taken a MJ jab (WK2 atm), I've had an odd, chemically taste at the back of my throat almost immedinately. Anyone else?

suka · 03/11/2024 00:01

Did my second jab yesterday. First jab was fine, in the tummy. Yesterday I did it in the top of my thigh and I felt it this time and now I have a bruise a bit bigger than a 50p around the injection site. Why is this? I think my legs are a bit less wobbly than my belly.

Also, a week in, not noticing any suppression yet.

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 03/11/2024 02:52

Took injection earlier this morning. Had a bit of a dry throat, trying to keep fluids up. Currently working and feel so hungry 😞

beachcitygirl · 03/11/2024 04:37

Pen arrived today. Starting tomorrow. Beyond excited

Quitelikeit · 03/11/2024 07:48

@OliviaFlaversham

please just eat

unicornsarereal72 · 03/11/2024 08:05

@Sketcho yes I have had that taste too. You are not alone

@suka your legs will be more muscular I'd imagine so less squishy

Good luck to those who are starting this week. I'm week two. Motivation to eat has been low. But still need some will power to make better choices around food.

TabbieMctatty · 03/11/2024 08:29

Ugh I have woken up feeling sick and with a tummy ache.

I'm hoping something to eat and drink will help as I have a very busy day ahead!

Hope everyone has a good Sunday!

Quitelikeit · 03/11/2024 08:34

I have had waves on nausea through some of the nights - it was when I had eaten late around 10pm

Dreamqueen · 03/11/2024 09:54

Day 4 for me. I can't stop thinking about food. Trying to make better eating choices but hoping that things will improve in week 2. No sign of any supression and `i'm worried that it won't work for me.

MsHybridFanGirl · 03/11/2024 11:20

Hi all would love to join. I've literally just completed my application with Med Express and have had to send ID/photos so waiting to see if I'll be accepted - does anyone know how long it usually takes for that stage? Also is anyone else trying this for addiction? My main reason is to hopefully reduce alcohol consumption but I am also overweight - BMI currently 29.7 thanks!!

BrownJenkins · 03/11/2024 12:01

@Dreamqueen Don't worry. Everyone is different. My first week wasn't as good as I'd have liked, 2nd week was much better.
I too was worried it wouldn't work for me but it just took a bit more time.
I'm sure you'll be feeling more positive as the days go by.

namechangedyetagain · 03/11/2024 12:05

Morning after my first jab here. Woke up in the night feeling quite sick (though could have been the wine yesterday) and still feeling hungry this morning. Just wondering what to have for lunch. Have roast chicken and vegetables for dinner tonight. Feel incredibly thirsty though so trying to drink as much water as possible.

BrownJenkins · 03/11/2024 12:16

Just had an email from Med Express. Time to order my next pen. Had to answer a few questions and decide whether to stay on 2.5mg or go up to 5mg. I've chosen the 5mg. This time there was no promo or discount code. £153.94, including p&p. That's about £5 something a day. As long as it keeps working I'll keep paying. I've still got 2 more of the 2.5mg to inject, only done 2 so far. If the 5mg comes soon, I won't have to worry about not getting it in time.

BrownJenkins · 03/11/2024 12:20

@MsHybridFanGirl I'm with MedExpress. It took a couple of hours to be accepted. It was then 3 days till it was delivered. It was very cool upon arrival but I put it straight in the fridge anyway. So far I'm happy with MedExpress.

It took 2-3 days for me to feel the suppression after first injection. I've just been on it over a month. Had headaches, nausea, dizziness, low mood and anxiety on and off for 3 weeks then everything settled. Best advice I could give to others is increase fluid and protein intake and eat small meals regularly.

UpToonGirl · 03/11/2024 12:39

Started Friday evening, Saturday night I started getting a little headache (which I'm prone to) and felt a bit rough so I had a snack and that seemed to have helped. Other than that no symptoms but also no appetite suppression.

I'm trying not to step on the scales until I've been on it a full week. I'm excited to see if I lose anything, I struggle to lose anything normally even if I stick to very low calorie for weeks so it'll be interesting. I won't be disheartened if I don't but will be over the moon even if it's just a pound.

My DH ordered his a couple of days after me so he'll be starting soon, it'll be interesting to see if he gets different results to me.

MsHybridFanGirl · 03/11/2024 13:12

@BrownJenkins thanks for this! I'm planning to do first injection as soon as I receive it so do I still need to refrigerate? Trying to hide it from my family for now
