November Mounjaro Starters

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:

@MsHybridFanGirl i applied through Medexpress on Thursday, I had an email on Friday saying they wanted a different full length picture (not quite sure why, I had a very patterned top on that may not have been tight enough). Still waiting to be approved (I definitely meet the criteria), but they’ve taken the money out of my account. I’m assuming because it’s the weekend they won’t do anything until Monday but it’s frustrating waiting. I really want to do my first injection on Thursday evening so I’m hoping it’s here by then.

Day 4 for me. I can't stop thinking about food. Trying to make better eating choices but hoping that things will improve in week 2. No sign of any supression and `i'm worried that it won't work for me.

I'm not getting much suppression either but am making healthy choices and going for long walks.

Just hope that I can keep it up until the suppression kicks in.

BrownJenkins · 03/11/2024 14:19

@MsHybridFanGirl It needs to be kept at a temperature between 2C and 8C before the first use. Once used it can be stored at room temperature, up to 30C for a maximum of 30 days. If unopened, it can be stored at room temperature for up to 21 days. Do you have a cool place you can store it, other than the fridge? Maybe somewhere like a shed or garage? Do you have a friend who'd store it for you if you want to keep it a secret for now?

Hi all would love to join. I've literally just completed my application with Med Express and have had to send ID/photos so waiting to see if I'll be accepted - does anyone know how long it usually takes for that stage? Also is anyone else trying this for addiction? My main reason is to hopefully reduce alcohol consumption but I am also overweight - BMI currently 29.7 thanks!!

Do you have any medical issues? Because a BMI of 29.7 is not obese so unless you qualify for medical reasons or ethnicity you could well be rejected.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 03/11/2024 14:48

Hi everyone! I have just put my order in and hope to start on Wednesday (all being well and pen delivered) as I have a long stretch of then not needing to be anywhere as working from home till Friday after next.

Sensitive to medications so I hope I get lucky with side effects. 10st (63kilo) to lose.

Can someone give me a virtual shake or talking to.

Reading online info and others’ experiences have given me such high expectations that I am now feeling so deflated. From day one ‘immediate’ appetite suppression is said to happen. I’m end of day one, constantly thinking of crisps and hungry. I’m spiralling into that ‘it won’t work for me, I’ll be fat forever’ place. It isn’t that I expected it to be a miracle drug but I did believe I would also get the suppression and less food noise.

I'm halfway through day 2 and just starting to think I'm getting some suppression. How are you doing today?

Goldleafcat · 03/11/2024 15:40

Hello! Wish I’d spotted this November thread before!

I started on mounjaro last Tuesday. To be honest, I’ve been lucky in that I’ve not had any particular side effects, however, I’ve not particularly noticed a lot in the way of appetite suppression either! But I have been ‘good’ and am determined to lose weight so suspect it has helped me to do that and not succumb to naughty foods… starting has really helped my mindset.

I’ve put on so much weight in the last year (more than 2 stone, and I’ve put on 4 stone in the last 4 years). I’m 1.5 stones heavier than I was when I was 9 months pregnant! It’s very sad looking at my smaller clothes and remembering how I felt at the time. Surprising how much weight can impact on your mental state. I have managed to lose a LOT of weight in the past through diet (7 stone) so I know it’s possible. I’m not getting any younger and I have a toddler to think of, so here goes! My weigh in day will be Tuesday…

Lilpickerswearbiggerknickers · 03/11/2024 15:53

OK, the reality is real!!!!

I have been following is thread for the last 6 days and have found it really helpful in making my decision to start Mounjaro.
My weight has slowly increased over the last couple of years due to the menopause....I just think of food all the time!!! I have gone from 10st to 13.06st.
So im really hoping the food noise will stop., and I can concentrate on feeling fit and healthy.

Just had my first delivery from MedExpress, placed my order on Wednesday. Uploaded my phones, the first 4 declined, finally excepted on Friday.
I'm now sitting here looking at the box with my is heart pounding.
I have made the decision to take the first dose this evening.
I CAN DO THIS.

Lilpickerswearbiggerknickers · 03/11/2024 16:04

Photos not phones.

MissingDietCoke · 03/11/2024 16:17

Yes you can @Lilpickerswearbiggerknickers We all can.

Seaside3 · 03/11/2024 17:29

Hello! I'd like to join in! I've just injected my 1st dose, so it's good to be doing it along with others.
Have a family member and a friend who have had great success, so decided to have a go. Have around 6 stone I'd like to lose.
Here's hoping it works for me too.

OliviaFlaversham · 03/11/2024 17:59

@StaySpicy im not sure if I have any suppression now (end of day 2) but I’m not thinking of food quite as much and I was able to not eat a whole (family sized) bag of crisps and stop at half a portion so I’m happy with that.

I need to think of this as much more long term than I was thinking. So helpful someone else saying the 2.5 dose isn’t going to do much but it’s getting your body ready. So I’m now thinking of this month as more preparation than anything else.

It may be placebo but I definitely feel less sluggish today. Can that be attributed to it? Like less up and down energy wise.

redavocado · 03/11/2024 18:40

I'm definitely getting some suppression. I really struggled to eat both halves of a supermarket chicken wrap at lunch today. I feel hungry now and have picked a bit at the kids' tea but I don't feel like I could manage much for dinner.

Ah the video of shame! I did that yesterday and I was approved this morning so hopefully my first dose will be delivered Monday or Tuesday. I did a video showing front and side profile and then with me on weighing scales showing weight.

Do they watch then and then say that’s a porker she definitely needs drugs 😂. I imagine have a fatty top 100 videos but I always have an active imagination.

AllstarFacilier · 03/11/2024 20:26

I’ve just taken my first dose! I saw the needle and felt nervous as I didn’t expect it to look as long as it did, but I actually didn’t feel anything. I’ve eaten a bit too well today, so I maybe shouldn’t have done that. I’m also really nervous about side effects; I’m back to work tomorrow and really could do without shitting myself in front of any of my classes!

I think my biggest problem with any diet it laziness and ease - I can never be bothered prepping food and end up going for something easy, which usually isn’t something low cal. So I’ll need to stock up on some foods that will be easy to prep in the morning and take to work with me.

Laks19 · 03/11/2024 21:28

I took my 2nd dose of 2.5 yesterday. I just wondered and know it sounds silly but what does or should suppression feel like? Last week after foods it felt like I had a sensation of fullness at top of throat (not a lump) just a feeling. This week I haven’t felt that again and worried what if the 2.5 might not supress! (Maybe impatient and know its starter dose - just wondering how it should feel if its effectivs) also still thinking about food in advance!

bananasplice · 03/11/2024 21:34

So I think I jinxed myself saying I had no side effects, I felt abit ropey last night, not sick just not right.
couldn't eat my protein dinner and just about eat sliced apple. Not sure if I hadn't eat enough during the day as had done a lot of walking.

Feeling much better today, so could have just been a fluke or the first day feeling. Got all my food prepped for back to work tomorrow so feeling ready.

smarty4 · 03/11/2024 22:47

Just had my First injection at 2.5mg. Injection wasn't that bad. I used to inject for my arthritis meds so this was easier. Hope ppl don't mind this:
SW 18 stone
GW 13 stone
I am 5ft 9inches
Working from home until Thursday so hoping any side effects will be ok at home.

TorturedParentsDepartment · 04/11/2024 08:21

Food noise back like mad overnight and this morning (I did jab number 1 on Thursday morning and I fully know this is just a loading dose). The difference is dramatic.

BleachedJumper · 04/11/2024 09:01

Morning all, I’m nearly a week in and 6lbs down! Fully aware this is the water weight initial reaction, but it is motivating.

No significant side effects other than some constipation, I had some dulcolax last night before bed and that seems to have helped out.

I can still eat and want to eat, but I think because I’ve invested financially in this I’m very motivated to make better choices. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is how much it has quietened my alcohol craving, which is probably the biggest contributor to me being overweight. Over the last year I’m probably out socially 5 evenings a week, and drinks are always involved, Ive actually found it easy to say no and stick with sparkling water where I would have easily had a bottle of wine a night!

Ralala · 04/11/2024 09:05

Morning everyone. I started Mounjaro on Saturday night! Yesterday I got sulphur burbs straight away but they only lasted 12 hours or so. Today (Monday morning) I have horrendous diarrhoea. I don’t feel hungry though and I’m hoping these initial symptoms are just my body getting used to the medication. I managed to eat a banana this morning and I’m drinking lots of water. Fingers crossed things settle this week

MamaorBruh · 04/11/2024 09:21

I'm going to do my first injection shortly.

SW 12st 10.

I'm not sure how to inject but there must be a video somewhere?

Madickenxx · 04/11/2024 09:22

Hi All, hope you don't mind me joining this thread even though I technically started in October. I had my first injection on the 25th so am on my 2nd week. So far I've had no side effects and no real suppression (whatever that is). What I have noticed is that my ADD brain has calmed down and I'm able to hold onto a thought which is great. Usually I have so much noise in my brain, the only way I can pick my thoughts out is to speak out loud (I'm often having to go into meeting rooms at work to pretend I'm on a call just to get things straight in my head lol). For the first time ever, I understand what my DH means when he says that he uses his morning shower as thinking time. It's subtle but significant change that has also given me the space to think through food decisions rather than acting on impulse. The other thing that's been almost miraculous is my blood pressure. One of the main reason for trying MJ is that I'd read that it can improve blood pressure and boy has it worked for me. In just 24 hours after taking the first jab, my bp went from really high (have been putting off going on meds which is ridiculous I know) to slightly raised. After a week, it's now in the normal zone. That alone is worth the cost of these injections. Amazing! Weight loss wise, I've lost around 4lbs from deliberately eating healthier and smaller portion sizes. I'm hoping going up to a higher dose will introduce more of a suppression but I also want to be able to eat and enjoy food so am trying to not compare myself to those who lose 7lb plus in the first week.

Sorry for the long post! 😊

Pumpkinforever · 04/11/2024 11:22

I am bloody furious. Ervi might not be able to deliver today FFS!
