Trying to decide whether to go up to 12.5?

Anyone else

Mum0ntherun · 25/10/2024 12:55

@mm81736 It's doing the rounds, unfortunately. I have had a grim two days and could keep nothing in 💩- the silver lining is that I am 4lbs down 😳, but I know when I do my weigh-in on Sunday, I will likely have put most of that back on once I start to eat properly again🙄- was nice to see though 😂😂

Some great loses ladies - even the little ones and thanks for the peptalk @MargoLivebetter we do all need it from time to time!

MabelSpan · 25/10/2024 13:03

@Blondeshavemorefun thanks. Its funny how we are so opposite in how we respond, or not, to this stuff. You double up and are fine, I double up and want to die!😂

You must be a month earlier and a July starter as I have gone up every month and will be just starting 10 after bonus next week @VioletCrawleyForever

Well done on losses, nsvs and hello to new joiners 👋

Im hovering at 98-99kg this week after finally breaking below 100 last week, so not really a loss but I’m due on and I’m sure this happened the past two months too. Hopefully a whoosh after it’s been and gone.

I’m not disappointed because it’s been a tough week with being full of a bad cold and an ill toddler too. We’ve definitely been utilising convenience food and I’ve had more sugar this week than the whole time I’ve been on MJ put together. So to not have a gain is amazing.

I think I’m going to have to go up to 5mg as well as 3.75 is not cutting it for me as much now. It does make me worried about when I come off it altogether. Just hoping new habits and learning how much food my body actually needs will help me stay strong against food noise and that weighing myself will mean I can’t be in denial and in F it mode!

Yes, @NippyCrab and I are the lightweights of the August gang!😃

poppym12 · 25/10/2024 13:20

I'm half a pound away from a 2st loss but I'm not going to get excited yet as I've hardly eaten this week (weird cold virus with diarrhea) so I'm expecting a gain next week after I've eaten better. The protein intake has gone out of the window for now.

Mind you, I've just had a piece of crusty toast with butter so at least that's got some protein......

CrazyGoatLady · 25/10/2024 13:38

Didn't notice the new thread! 😂

Haven't weighed this week as it's been a weird one. A couple of days with very little appetite and nausea, then yesterday I was really hungry. First brush with the dreaded constipation too, so I figured that would affect the scales, so decided not to depress myself!

Happy Friday everyone!

weaseleyes · 25/10/2024 13:44

@MabelSpan I'm with you on the lightweight bench! Still on 4, having regretted my reckless foray to 4.3 the other week 😀

It's interesting what we all see when we compare with one another. I think it's a kind of confirmation bias where we keep seeing what we most want and fear we're missing out on, especially when we're used to judging ourselves and our weight/food 'performance' so harshly. So @Blondeshavemorefun sees everyone having great suppression and barely eating, whereas I see everyone eating tons compared to me and think how unfair it is! (This is clearly part of my continued refusal to accept that I'm very short and old, and after my relentless weight variations over the years I just can't eat much. Ever again. Sob.) Similarly, slow losers see everyone having vast losses, whereas I think we could draw a nice bell curve of losses on this thread and we'd probably find at least half of everyone has had a similar overall loss, albeit different distributed since August. I find myself envying people who have so much less to lose then me in total and wondering why they're stressed about it when they're 'only' having to lose two stone or so when poor me has so much to go, like I'm the only person entitled to feel stressed about weight loss. (I've often only had two stone to lose and the fact I'm here now is testament to the fact I didn't find it easy!)

Anyway, any of us still here are doing great. There's quite a few don't post any more that I feel may have given up, so we're keeping going and that's what matters. SW or fast 800 may have the same results for free, but if they worked in the long run we probably wouldn't be here. We're not meant to be losing at a faster rate, we're meant to be able to stick to a lower calorie diet for long enough that we can lose as much weight as we need to. So if we're here, we're doing ok.

Crusty bread and butter

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2024 13:59

@weaseleyes I've always thought those who have 2 st to lose don't really need mj

Tho guess If short then bmi would be high

Do you eat a lot then ? What did you eat wed and thur ?

But yes I do see so many with great suppression and think why don't I have that

To be full after my morning cuppa

@CrazyGoatLady I see your logic but aren't you intrigued

weaseleyes · 25/10/2024 14:08

@Blondeshavemorefun I suppose my point is there are also lots that don't have great suppression, but they don't stand out as much to you because the ones with high suppression are more enviable/noticeable to you.

And no, I don't eat a lot, because I'm short. So if I want to lose weight I can only eat between 800-1000 max a day. It feels like all I see are people saying they're eating 1400, 1600, 1700 and I'm thinking OMG! That's more than maintenance for me, I can't believe you're losing so much weight on those calories! And I feel very envious. But actually, some people just have to eat more and some less, it doesn't mean their struggles are any less than mine. Also, there've been plenty of people who are also short and eat the same sort of diet I do, so I don't really deserve to feel uniquely hard done by 😀

weaseleyes · 25/10/2024 14:08

Am also admiring @CrazyGoatLady's self-restraint.

Wise words @weaseleyes

I am very envious of those on great suppression esp on 2.5/3.75 etx

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2024 08:23

I've lost a lb

Would prefer more but know I should be happy with that

Just that's what I used to lose on sw

And obv that was free compared to this

Think this total of month has been 4lbs

Which I know is a loss and esp when others have sts or Gained

I should be grateful

I don’t know about you but I have done SW, WW, (several times !) Cambridge &others , like you I am now loosing more slowly yes comparable to SW but so far I have lost 30lb it took me more than 12 months to loose so much with WW. You are doing great and are so supportive to others be kind to yourself too. I know which I prefer no sitting in a hall being “clapped “ with a loss, questioned about a gain.
This has been so refreshing and yes 13 weeks we have all been going amazing info, support from this group, I am feeling so positive that we can all do this🙂

Whoyoutakingto · 25/10/2024 14:47

MargoLivebetter · 25/10/2024 09:15

Right, pep talk incoming for non-losers (which is likely to include me this week). I think slow and steady wins the day with weight loss. I've never really achieved that before, as I'd have fallen off the diet wagon ages ago. I think the most I've ever properly done (as in strictly adhered to) would be 2 months. Always lose and usually too much too fast and then it all goes back on.

With MJ, even when I don't lose, which I suspect is going to be the case this week, it doesn't feel like a disaster and I don't have the "fuck it" moment and want to jack it all in.

So, we should all be celebrating that we can hang in there and the loss will come. It has to slow down, it can't keep falling off all of us, so we need to mentally reward all the good that we are doing regardless!

You may all carry on!!!!! 😂

Couldn’t agree with you more. Thanks ☺️

NippyCrab · 25/10/2024 15:22

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/10/2024 11:22

((Hugs)) little ninja @NippyCrab

So you lost and gained the same 2lbs over 3mths

And then lost a stone on mj since we all started

Where most of us have lost 1.5s - some 2+

So can understand why you feel low

I really think it's the low dose

I get you feel crap on a higher one but I don't think you have managed 5 yet have you ?

Maybe take 5 (sorry if wrong number) and some antis sickness tablets and omeprazole

💐💖💐💖💐💖💐

This will hopefully make you feel loved and supported

Plus to make you laugh

I was doing mini blondes hair this am before school and reliesed didn't have a hair band

I said let's side shuffle to the fire where bands were as didn't want to let go of her high ponytail

She was so funny. Mummy we are like crabs - I'm a nippy crab and using her finger and thumb to be a crab - nip nip nippy

😂😂😂😂

You are famous in the blondes household

Awww thank you @Blondeshavemorefun and little mini Blondes 💗💗💗 I'm feeling the love
I'm going up to 3 on Sunday and then be brave and move up each week to 5mg feck, I don't want to feel 💩 but I'm not paying for this plus I'm eating super clean and not losing. Thing is I do feel smaller, I've got a long jumper on at the moment and it feels baggier than when I wore it last at the same weight. 🙄🐾🐾 xx

MargoLivebetter · 25/10/2024 15:24

@Blondeshavemorefun I can see how you'd think that about the suppression on the lower dose. TBH no one is more surprised than me that this is how it is for me. However, I do calorie count every morsel that passes through my lips and have to stay below 1000 calories a day to lose. I crept over a few days this week, and I really do mean crept, by less than a 100 calories on each of 4 days this week and that will be why I will not be losing anything at all.

So, on the one hand I'm lucky that 2.5 hits my appetite on the head, on the other I have to eat sparingly to lose anything. It's all swings and roundabouts.

Well done on your pound and all the others who lost this week. I'm so impressed we are all still going on this. Love these threads and the support from and for everyone. (You can tell it's Friday and I'm demob happy!!!)

lookathatbookcase · 25/10/2024 15:32

Another tiny pep talk for slow losers is that slow loss (and sts) are not a moral failing. There is so much about weight that is tied up with ideas of goodness, morality, shame etc etc - shame at getting to a certain weight, shame at not being able to lose weight. As much as we all might know that bodies are complex and different and weight is just weight, it's hard (I think) not to be affected by those messages. And so when we actually have a medical tool that - broadly - works, it can be hard not to feel sad or shameful at not losing weight as quickly as other people. But it's just bodies! It can be frustrating no doubt, but please don't let it affect your self-worth.

MabelSpan · 25/10/2024 15:35

@weaseleyes we are lightweights and proud to be so! I am planning to do 4mg on Monday😃

The comparing to others is funny isnt it, and again something which we all do so differently. When I see people posting huge weekly loses, week after week, month after month, whilst there is a little voice in my head that says wow, thats incredible, well done, there is a bigger, louder voice in my head that chimes in and says, but I dont want that, its not healthy or sustainable, they cant be eating well, they will end up with loose, saggy, wrinkly skin and look 10yrs older and that usually makes me feel much better!😃

I also find it hard to get my head around how we are all different shapes, heights, ages, sizes, with huge differences in the amounts we have to lose.
I am 55, I was 5ft 10 but to my horror I am now 5ft 9, I blame my bulging discs!
When I began in Aug I was 20st 3lbs and my absolute ultimate goal is 11st 7lbs, (depending on how my body looks as I get closer to that weight I may settle at around 12st or so).
My goal weight is more than many peoples starting weight! That can be quite depressing😂

NippyCrab · 25/10/2024 15:39

@MabelSpan and @weaseleyes we can be the 3 amigo lightweights haha.

We didn't go a super walk, just to another beach, Sainsbury's then home. I was intending on going to a lovely wee shop that does the scent melts and beads for burners but I was too sore and tired. So that's on tomorrow's agenda after a walk. Then Costco on Sunday.

I've gotten over my 4 weeks at sts, @OnTheBounce I feel better reading your 4 weeks of up and down too (sorry)

I think I've missed some posts so scrolling back up to catch up.

We are having a steak tonight, veg and DH is having some sort of potato dish.

If i look back at what I was eating at the beginning I need to up my protein and switch up the diet.
Xx

MargoLivebetter · 25/10/2024 15:57

@MabelSpan you are nearly my lightweight twin. I'm 55 too. I used to be 5ft 7" and now I'm only just over 5ft 6 Confused. I have more arthritis in my spine than spine these days, which is depressing. Although, the MJ and weight loss are helping dampen down the inflammatory arthritis.

I was hanging out laundry yesterday and caught site of an old woman out there with me and it was my own bloody reflection in the bi-folds. Admittedly I was in my bag lady clothes and I wasn't having a good day but it wasn't a moment to cherish!

MabelSpan · 25/10/2024 15:57

@NippyCrab @weaseleyes and me! I am honoured to be one of the 3 amigo lightweights!😃

MabelSpan · 25/10/2024 16:05

@MargoLivebetter my lightweight twin! After I had my spine scanned, the doctor read the results over the phone and said, blah, blah, bulging disc, arthritic changes...at which point as asked, what does that mean? She simply replied, oh nothing of concern, its to be expected at your age!😟
I also caught myself in the reflection of the window yesterday, like you I was in my sloppy clothes, but good god, I couldnt believe I still looked so huge, as I feel so much better. I have been kidding myself for so many years, I am completely brainwashed by my own brain!😃
