Well done everyone on all the NSV. @4pink1blue @Pinkjenny looking fab both of you.

@Blondeshavemorefun - sorry to hear you lost your DH.

@Mum0ntherun - hope you’re soon feeling better. I was like this after my first 5mg jab. Have since reduced and stayed at 3.75 and have been ok since.

I don’t have the sulphur burps but have the worst dry mouth, especially in the night. It wakes me up and there’s an underlying sulphur-ness about it. At the moment it’s the worst bit for me.

I’m about to start my 3rd pen and will continue on 3.75mg. I’m pleased to report that after struggling to extract the bonus dose last week, from my pen that had been used for over 30 days, probably closer to 40/5, I’m still here and all was fine!!

Wasn’t expecting a loss this week but down 3lbs and now 11st6!! I feel like 10 is within reach, which I honestly didn’t think would ever be possible. Starting weight early August was 14.4! (Although since purchased new scales).

I still don’t fit into the dress I bought for the wedding I’m going to, so need to come up with a plan b. I did think I’d just aim to wear the dress for the work Christmas party, but seems I missed the 2 day window to respond and so won’t be going!!

I will be away for 2 weeks and hoping I can stay on track and won’t gain too much. I’ve barely had a treat since I began MJ, although really haven’t wanted one, but whilst away I will allow myself a cake or ice cream if I want one.

I won’t be able to keep up with the threads for sure, just hope I can find you chatty lot when I return. You’ll probably be on thread 12 by then!! 😂

weaseleyes · 27/10/2024 09:37

Personally I’m not really into the concept of accountability. It reminds me of scolding weight loss groups and undue scale fixation, which has derailed me in the past. I like people randomly sharing stuff - or not - in the middle of chat.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2024 09:46

I saw a post about maintenece - I'm ages away from that

But

Seems some will allow it but it's still a massive huge cost at around £200 a month for 15

I assumed it would taper down strengths to 15 12.5 10 7.5 5 etx

I can't imagine but can afford to be spending £200 a month forever

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2024 09:47

@Usernamechangeforthis12 have a nice holiday and well done for loss

weaseleyes · 27/10/2024 09:50

That link has a variety of plans, though, one of which does include tapering down

AuntieDote · 27/10/2024 09:50

Hi all, gosh we’re a chatty lot - I’ve only been away a week and not only is there a new thread it’s already half full!

I haven’t caught up on the thread fully but definitely appreciated the explanation from @20bloodypounds - a really clear way of understanding it!

@SammySays - peppermint tea and peppermint capsules for sulfur burps. Although to be honest, the thing that’s helped me the most is omeprazole which I got on prescription from the doctors and it’s definitely sorted out many of the awful side effects (which included the burps, reflux, horrendous cramps around bra strap level and frequent sickness for me) - I really don’t think I’d have been able to continue on mj without it.

I’ve had a real wobble - not only is the hunger back (which I could live with) it’s the food noise and sweet cravings that are back almost at pre-mj levels. Towards the end of our week away I was giving into it - I’ve eaten quite a few sweets, biscuits and some chocolate whilst away, though if I am objective it’s still a fraction of what I’d have put away on a similar holiday before. But it felt a bit scary and definitely put paid to any idea that I’ve managed to change my eating habits in any lasting way yet, or that I’d be able to manage without the drug yet! I was mostly still tracking and staying around or under 1400 calories, but obviously not necessarily the right things (some still good stuff in there too!)

Anyway was fully expecting a gain when I weighed this morning but have managed to stay the same which I’ll take - have still lost 25lbs since the start.

So given the above I feel like 5 isn’t working for me - to be honest it hasn’t for a while really and I’ve already shortened the time between doses. I’m disappointed to have to go up to 7.5, particularly as there’s a cost implication (although oushk currently have a decent discount) but seems I’ll need to.

Trying to decide whether to go straight up to 7.5 when I inject today - I have one dose of a 5 pen left plus bonus dose so could make that up. Or maybe try for 6 as a bridging dose (although I wonder if doing the 3.75 bridging dose for a while is what meant 5 didn’t work so well for me overall). Either way I’ll jab tonight and hope for a better week next week!

I need to start getting back into exercise too - the sickness followed by covid followed by the worst fatigue has been a convenient excuse not to bother for a while now, but I can’t keep doing that!

Wingingit11 · 27/10/2024 10:15

Ok was just gauging views.

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 27/10/2024 10:28

@20bloodypounds - yes thanks for the explanation, that’s really helpful. More water it is!!

@AuntieDote - hope you had a lovely week away. I’d definitely call that a win, you do need to be able to treat yourself. But I know what you mean about making long term changes to eating habits.

Now my knees don’t hurt so much, and I’ve less to wobble when moving, I need to move more. This should be made easier too with the darker nights! Once I’m back from being away, I’m going to start C25K.
I’ve also not told anyone I’m on MJ but wfh so don’t actually see anyone for weeks!

I mistyped above, my CW is 11st 8. And I had a NSV this week. Found some lovely summer trousers in the sale but they only had a 12! Didn’t want to get them unless I thought that there was any possibility they’d fit by next summer. Tried them in and I could do them up! They are too tight to be comfortable, but I got them to aim for!

MabelSpan · 27/10/2024 10:41

@JohnCravensNewsround prunes work a treat for constipation due to their high sorbitol content. I love them and will have anything from 50g-100g which gets things going within hours usually. Inulin powder is good for a fibre boost, its also a prebiotic so good for gut health.

@Wingingit11 I love this thread because of all the conversations and support and like the way it has grown into a friendly chatty group who all started about the same time. Sharing the number on the scale is the least important bit for me.

@Usernamechangeforthis12 I am the same with the dry mouth at night, drives me mad and wakes me up! Congrats on the fab loss but sorry about the dress and Christmas party!

@AuntieDote I dread the food noise coming back. That is my biggest fear. Hope going up a dose knocks it on the head for you.

Wingingit11 · 27/10/2024 10:43

@MabelSpan I was not trying to detract from the value of the chat. I just wondered if it would be helpful to as I said. I’ll stand down don’t worry😅

Morning all. I took my first 7.5 this morning and I did weigh in again because I didn't believe that 8lb loss, it was down to a 6lb loss this morning. I knew it wasn't a true loss!

Anyway, I had an awkward conversation with dh last night who told me that one of his friends is now taking a weight loss injection. They went out on Friday and the mate had had steak and chips and a curry while they were out. Apparently he can have 'two takeaways a week' 😂😂

I have no idea if dh was fishing to see if I was on them but I suspect he has an idea and I kept my mouth firmly shut.

I think my DP is suspicious too, he has dropped into conversation about “someone at work on those weight-loss injections”. I quite like keeping it to myself though, so hoping he doesn’t ask me outright. Pens are well hidden but delivery day is always a bit of a risk for discovery. I wish they would deliver to InPost lockers, it would be so much easier for those out at work all week.

20bloodypounds · 27/10/2024 11:13

@Pinkjenny I'm another one who hasn't told anyone that I'm doing this. Including dh. He's a long, lean, athletic bugger and doesn't really comprehend anything other than 'eat less move more'. Plus he loves me whatever weight and shape I am and doesn't seem to particulalry notice whether I gain or lose. Except once, 5 years ago, when I'd lost more than 3 stones he did comment on my slim legs... He's used to me trying different approaches including low carb and intermittent fasting. I think he can never predict what I might be eating/not eating next. He's just happy that I love being in the kitchen and he gets lovely food served up.

On the dh topic, has anyone noticed a drop in libido? MJ has quietened down so many of my urges and impluses - food, sugar, mindless snacking, alcohol - but it's also quietened my desire. We're in our 60s and not at it like rabbits, plus dh had an operation a few weeks ago and was recouperating, but last week I noticed he had a certain 'wistful' look. We did do it, and it was all good (sorry tmi!) but I did have to put a bit of effort into getting started, sort of the same as making sure I make a nice nutritious meal when my appetite is diminished.

Pinkjenny · 27/10/2024 11:15

The reverse here, I'm much more keen to get my kit off and show off these days 😂😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2024 11:15

@AuntieDote going up to 7.5 isn't bad apart from the cost lol

Great you sts after a holiday

@Usernamechangeforthis12 great NSV. I have 12's in my wardrobe

Maybe one day lol

weaseleyes · 27/10/2024 11:27

@MabelSpan @Usernamechangeforthis12 I also have the dry mouth at night thing. when I wake up it's like I have horrible hangover mouth, which feels very unfair! However, I am now trying to reframe it as evidence I have been exhaling dissolved fat all night to cheer me up 😀

Pinkjenny · 27/10/2024 11:42

I have the dry mouth thing too, it's definitely getting worse the longer I take MJ.

ChunkyMunky · 27/10/2024 12:40

@20bloodypounds my libido doesn’t seem to have been affected (at least I don’t think it has!), but it’s generally a bit varied anyway. I can range from very high drive around ovulation to total disinterest a couple of weeks later. My body clearly wants more babies, even though real life practicalities mean we’ve ruled out having any more.

Azuresky68 · 27/10/2024 13:35

@2020bloodypounds on the libido question...me too! Started a new relationship at 64 , thats 4 years ago and all good until last year the boyfriend (BF) had a major operation with 12 months recovery and lifelong meds with side effects. I was the wistful one! Now I don't have much interest at all but I have my body confidence back after losing 13 pounds...the pesky pounds I gained this year on top of another pesky 12 pounds that I had gained since I met him ...doesn't sound a lot but it is on my height. BF claims he never noticed my gain... maybe he knows how to be tactful at his age 🤣🤣🤣. Can't wait to get to my goal for my benefit. He has never mentioned my weight, and he can be very complimentary. Will wait and see what happens when I am off MJ!

doingitthistime · 27/10/2024 13:56

Hi everyone, can't believe I lost you for a week and you're halfway through the next thread.
I'm one of the slow loser lose dose weaklings, was bumbling along on 5mg until I had unpleasant side effects two weeks ago, since then I've done 2.5 on Tuesdays and Fridays, which has been lovely from the side effects aspect but last night I ate most of a chinese takeaway without any effort, so need to pull up my big girl pants and try 5 in one dose again.
I'm older and need to eat less than 1000 calories a day to lose much, but am 2 stone down, so whilst slow (must confess to not being an August starter, but hope you don't mind me tagging along with you, you're such a friendly bunch), I couldn't have held out this long without Mj.
@Blondeshavemorefun hope the 10 works well for you
@20bloodypounds brilliant fat cell explanation, really makes sense

Have a good week everyone.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/10/2024 15:03

@doingitthistime most welcome here

Being in aug when we all started we were the same dose

But we have moi - constitution of an ox 😂 as someone put so nicely on here a
on 10 next jab but I did make ten from my 7.5 and part or bonus and I'm fine on it

A few on 7.5

A few on 5

A few on 2.5/3.75 as suffer bless their little cotton socks on 5

So we are now in 4 groups of diff strengths 😂

But anyone welcome

MabelSpan · 27/10/2024 15:19

@Blondeshavemorefun I will now consider my little lightweight, cotton socks well and truly blessed😂 even though I am planning on putting my big girl pants on and going up to a whopping 4mg tomorrow!😃How brave am I!😂

Have a fabulous holiday. If you don't mind me asking, what height are you? I can only dream of seeing an 11 yet because I've been stuck for 4 weeks my starting weight in January was 14st 7lbs and I do want to get to a reasonable weight for my height and age. I'm 5ft 5.5inches. I have a 5mg pen and it was good to hear your update about the longevity of it because I am also going to start 3.75 next week. Xx

Yes and I'm not happy! Once I'm in the zone it's all back to normal but because DH works away we would have some naughty sexting happening and now I don't have the notion 😂 x

Twin weakling here, I was doing 2.5mg every 5 days and I'm going to brave an increase to 3.75mg per week next. I've been on 2.5mg since 5th August, if course you are very welcome here 😊 xx
