I had Mounjaro delivered this morning and planning on doing the first jab tonight.

I'm 4 feet 11 and currently 11st 2lbs so have at least 2 and a half stone to lose.

I have everything crossed that I won't have side effects too badly! I'm also dreading the actual injecting.

Hi @Bloodywellshrunk I started at the beginning of July, so not recently apologies, but I just wanted to say that the actual injection is an absolute non-event, speaking as someone who used to be pretty seriously needle-phobic. If you follow the instruction leaflet step by step, using the pictures to guide you, you really can't go wrong. The actual injection is totally painless and I never actually feel it at all. It's just a bit nerve-wracking the first time!

There are threads for October starters in this section that you could join, if you haven't seen those already.

@SilenceInside that's good to hear about the actual injection.

I've seen the October threads but was hoping to chat with others starting this week 🙂

@Bloodywellshrunk Hi. I'm starting my first dose of Mounjaro on Wednesday.
I'm with Med Express. I'm 5 feet 7 and weigh 17 stone.
I'm more worried about the possible side effects, not the actual injections. I had major surgery in 2023 and had to inject myself for 30 days.

Ps I watched this video lots of times before I did the injection and it was so helpful. Best of luck!

I went to order through Medexpress but they wanted to contact my gp. I was hoping they wouldn’t.

VOY seems more expensive.

Can anyone recommend other companies?

Hi OP! I am pretty much your height/weight twin Smile. I started a week ago and have just done my second jab. No side effects to speak of so far. The appetite suppression has been very good from day two, and very weird!

Bloodywellshrunk · 21/10/2024 23:16

Update! I've just done the first injection. Hesitated with my eyes shut for ages but counted to three and just did it. You were all right - it wasn't that bad, certainly not as bad as getting that sticky tape off that they put on you after a blood test. Fingers crossed now for minimal or no side effects.

@BrownJenkins and @Birdseyetrifle I ordered through Medexpress. My GP and practice nurse know I've been struggling with weight loss for the last couple of years, so I'm not really that bothered if they get informed or not.

@HansHolbein I watched that video and a few others this morning. Still followed the instructions religiously though 🙄

@Plumcorkyduff it feels so much harder for us, doesn't it? We need far fewer calories than someone 6 inches taller. I'm far more active than a colleague but she can eat around 1600 calories and still lose weight, while I need 1000 max, preferably 8-900 to lose even a pound a week.

@Bloodywellshrunk I know exactly what you mean. I always feel it’s one of the most annoying parts of being short… that and constantly having to use a wooden spoon to hoick things out of my cupboards Grin. Ps how are you feeling today?

I've just ordered through Voy - it was only about £10 more in the end (ish). I paid £129.

My reasons were - super fast service (it was dispatched today after two hours and will be here tomorrow), I liked the interface and support available (tons of usual info), and really easy, slick process. I really hate faffing around Grin

I've got a code but I'll stick it on the right thread, if anyone wants it.

Zeld · 22/10/2024 16:56

useful info

Zeld · 22/10/2024 16:57

Oh yes, and Voy give you the option of not contacting GP!

Zeld · 22/10/2024 18:04

...and I like the fact that Voy included needles, sharps bin, storage case etc.

Why couldn't I put all this in ONE message ffs🙄

Way TMI warning!!

So last night I was working late and didn't eat until 10pm - just a bowl of homemade lentil soup (it was a bit on the thick side but at that time of night and starving I just ate it as it was). I then had a glass of red wine. I did the jab at 11.15ish and went to bed around midnight. At 1.30 I was awake with heartburny discomfort and came downstairs for some water or milk. I didn't get that far and vomited in the kitchen sink. It was the most bizarre vomiting I've ever experienced - there was none of the usual gagging, just seemed like my stomach needed to empty itself and first the wine came up followed by some of the soup. It wasn't a mixture of both, they came up separately. Never seen anything like it. I slept until around 6am and was getting some mild cramping. Got up and had a bit of a poo which was soft but not runny and went back to bed. Got up at 10am (no work until 4pm) and had diarrhoea. After that all symptoms disappeared. I went swimming and did the usual Tuesday stuff with no bother at all.

I've had another bowl of lentil soup for lunch plus half a banana. I've just had a chicken breast, carrot, cauliflower and broccoli for supper and do have some mild stomach cramps but that's it. Plus, I've left some of it.

@Plumcorkyduff I'm an expert with wooden spoons, fish slices etc. 🙋
