Oushk maintenance plan

Shudacudawuda · 19/10/2024 08:55

Hi,
Is anyone here already on the Oushk maintenance plan?
I'm thinking ahead and considering switching to Oushk before I get too slim to switch (😲 too slim, not words I ever imagined saying about myself!!)
Current BMI has just dropped below 30 so feels like the right time to be thinking about this, I'm really interested in hearing personal experience of the Ousk maintenance service please.

I am nowhere near maintenance but I have read them.

I like the idea of tapering down if I end up on higher doses (I am 16 weeks in and still <5mg). Then, depending on how that works out, perhaps going to the flex one where I could stay on their books and can reorder if/when I feel I need support to get back on track.

I moved to Oushk a couple of months ago BMI then was 26. I had a 1 to 1 video call with pharmacist to discuss the options for maintenance. My take is that Oushk have put much more thought into the support they give than others, I was with MedExpress before that. I am about t start the tirate down plan and after that I will see how it goes and I know further personal advice will be given if requested

TheWildRoseBear · 19/10/2024 13:48

Oushk is known to be a very supportive pharmacy and I agree with @FarriersGirl that their approach to maintenance seems like it’s been well thought of and they have real procedures in place for this.

Im not quite at maintenance yet but have looked in to it and was in the same boat where I switched over at BMI of 29. All patients have a consultation with the pharmacist to go through their weight loss history and make a plan for maintenance. Hira has mentioned that the plans are more like a guideline so there is flexibility there
Good luck

PLEASE stop posting these codes, it's so irritating - there are hundreds of you with them and it's why MN have set up a specific thread to stop every other thread being spammed endlessly with them.

85reasons · 19/10/2024 13:55

OP - like previous poster I'm with Oushk but not near maintenance yet (and love the fact they are a spam code free zone Grin). It's early days yet with their planned maintenance approach and I think they'll be open to adapting that as time goes on and if customers' needs are different - they're still finding their way with it all as long-term use of MJ is such a new thing.

Personally I'd like to think I'll stay on a low dose just to keep the food noise at bay - that's been priceless.

Does anyone know what the maintenance dose is?

unsync · 19/10/2024 14:15

It will be interesting to see how many other online pharmacies will offer maintenance regimes as presumably more users will start reaching target weight on MJ now that it's been available for over 6 months.

Wingingit11 · 19/10/2024 14:36

Not t maintenance level yet but with oushk who are good (and currently have 16% off - not a personal referral code!)

OushkSmoushk · 19/10/2024 15:25

Almost seems like an Oushk ad thread. I'm put off by these pharmacies that seem cultish and have to sing their praises all the time like Medexpress with their code spam, Oushk (more from their Facebook group than mumsnet but this thread is pinging the bells).

Other pharmacies are offering maintenance without any sort of payment - some will be following suit soon. It's simple - just stay on the dose you are or go lower, like you usually would during re-ordering. People are making it as if it's revolutionary because of the great leader 'Oushk and Hira', as if no other prescriber has great knowledge - or any knowledge - of this medicine. Lord!

85reasons · 19/10/2024 15:50

And you've name changed just to say so @OushkSmoushk 😁

I'm sure these pharmacies are pretty much all the same - however I don't see the others making it so 'personal' - I can't compare much other than with Family Chemist who I used for first month. Switched to Oushk after that purely as you could name a delivery day and that suited me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Since then though it's been good to have the WhatsApp support and ability to speak to Hira, nothing more complicated than that.

FarriersGirl · 19/10/2024 16:28

@OushkSmoushk experiences with Oushk is what the OP requested🙄

Shudacudawuda · 19/10/2024 16:30

From what I can see, Oushk are different in that if you reach target and come off the meds, you can go back on them without having to wait until you're very overweight again. None of the others seem to be offering that from what I can tell. But its not clear, hence the thread.

OP posts:
WeAllHaveWings · 19/10/2024 16:33

There are loads more posters saying they have had great service from the big providers ZAVA, MedExp, etc as they are the cheapest / most popular.

Many more posters recommend their suppliers than Oushk as it a smaller business, they are different as they do things like the live Q&A, seem to connect with patients more, which is fine if some want that support and then recommend it. Why just the Oushk "hate" and not the others that regularly get mentioned? They are not doing anything that could be considered negative or offensive.

Shudacudawuda · 19/10/2024 16:47

FarriersGirl · 19/10/2024 16:28

Exactly! It doesn't 'almost' seem like an Oushk thread @OushkSmoushk , it IS an Oushk thread!
l am specifically asking about them because so far they seem to be the only provider I can find who offer what I'm looking for - namely the option to go back on the medication if I start struggling to maintain once off, without having to wait until my BMI is back over 30.

You seem a little butthurt. Did Oushk reject you?

Chiman · 19/10/2024 20:39

If you're put off by these pharmacies fair enough , but clearly you care too much to go out of your way to make an account just to hate on oushk!

which other pharmacy is doing as much as what oushk offers? Or which other pharmacist can you name who would go out of their way to help someone who is not even their patient.

i personally changed from boots and they didnt ever peronally get in touch or bother keeping up with me but with oushk they always make sure you're doing well.

it seems like a cult because the education and care oushk provides is not the norm (it should be) so personally i think other pharmacies need to make more of an effort with their patients

TheBoldHelper · 20/10/2024 06:47

I’d agree pharmacies need to be clearer on long term plans, I e emailed med express and asked about maintenance, I’d recommended anyone else using them to do the same, might make them act. Explain that if long term maintenance isn’t offered you can’t stay with them.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/10/2024 08:02

@Shudacudawuda the family chemist offer the same types of maintenance plans including the ability to stay on their books for a year. Here is a blog explaining it. It says you have to have been with them since the beginning of your journey but they have clarified that they will take people on with a bmi above 25 for maintenance.

BUT, as mentioned above, you cannot book a delivery date and I have recently had an email response saying their delivery times are around a week at the moment due to high demand. I am thinking I might move as I really would like to be able to know when my delivery will come to ensure I can be here!! I have completed most of the consultation form for Oushk so may well submit it later😁

Shudacudawuda · 20/10/2024 08:10

Being able to book a delivery date would be good actually, you can't do that with Medexpress which has been a bit of a pain.

85reasons · 20/10/2024 08:45

@Shudacudawuda without wanting to sound too much like an ad for Oushk 😉 not only can you choose delivery date but you can pick a date up to 2 months in advance.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/10/2024 14:01

You know, there are really only two things putting me off Oushk:

  1. The cost of their higher doses (don't know why as I’m about to order my 4th 5mg pen!😂)
  2. The gushy behaviour of a lot of their customers in the fb support group! Honestly, it's sooo off putting! 😂 Somebody even posted today that they hoped they weren't too 'fan girl' in their maintenance consultation 'staring into Hira's eyes' 🤢
WeAllHaveWings · 20/10/2024 14:46

@IReallyNeedThisToWork

I am an "Oushk-er" 🙄 the twee-ness aspect is not my cup of tea at all and I don't engage with it. But I have picked up a few bits and pieces of useful info during their Q&As (Hira herself is a bit girly for me, and it gets a bit repetitive after a few goes as more new patients have the same questions), their other lives - one on menopause, one from a PT etc have been useful.

I am mainly with them because I can order in advance, request a delivery date and choose a courier that is best for my area. ZAVA pens kept arriving days after the dispatch notification (I think they might print labels in advance), I didn't know what day they would be delivered until the last minute and they were not chilled, they were also difficult to get quick replies from. I am in Scotland so there are a few hours extra transit time and the Oushk pens, so far, are arriving nicely chilled (same wool packaging as ZAVA used when I ordered from them).

I can absolutely see the attraction for many of dealing with Oushk rather than a faceless pharmacy, it is a bit marmite, but the benefits outweigh the silly twee for me.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/10/2024 15:00

@WeAllHaveWings totally agree! Knowing when it is arriving will make life a lot easier😁

I am half way through the consultation form and just need to take yet another photo to add in!

Have you got the discount codes for this month? Either "£10 off and free delivery" or "16%" off?
