Oushk maintenance plan

Shudacudawuda · 19/10/2024 08:55

Hi,
Is anyone here already on the Oushk maintenance plan?
I'm thinking ahead and considering switching to Oushk before I get too slim to switch (😲 too slim, not words I ever imagined saying about myself!!)
Current BMI has just dropped below 30 so feels like the right time to be thinking about this, I'm really interested in hearing personal experience of the Ousk maintenance service please.

@WeAllHaveWings yea thanks 😁 It was the new one that made me decide to do it as it brings their prices down in line with TFC

sangriaandsunshine · 20/10/2024 15:40

I'm a very slow loser but finally getting close to a healthy BMI. I'm nervous about maintenance but feel like the Oushk plan is a scam. A way for them to make a lot of money off people's uncertainties as to how they will manage their futures. So much is changing in this arena so quickly that I think I'm just going to wait & see what happens. Considering how life changing this has been for so many people, I think regulations about use and maintenance will change (as they already have done in the time
I have been using it) and there will be more options. I would also prefer to go with a more established provider than one which seems so dependent on one individual.

The maintenance plans at all providers will continue to change and develop over time. What part of the Oushk plans do you feel is a "scam". It is a straight forward enough offering IF you want to take it and there are various suggested plans.

Oushk has more than one prescriber. Hira Malik is the main prescriber (for the pharmacy registration - not sure what that is called), pharmacy owner and public face of the business. It is just a different business model to larger faceless companies, perhaps as a smaller business it is more at risk of being taken over, or staying profitable, but that is that same with any emerging businesses and not something I am concerned about. I am sure there will be someone else willing to take my money if there is ever an issue, especially as maintenance plans are becoming more widespread.

To be honest, the fact that they have something solid in place makes me feel more comfortable going to them when most other companies are saying they will just continue to prescribe without any real checks or determining what is appropriate for patients.

At the end of the day, they have to protect their own business too. Anyone who gets to a bmi of 22 for instance and then comes off medication - it will be hard to justify to any prescriber to restart again esp taking into account the weight loss market is a target. With the Oushk plan you are on their books and still having consultations with notes to show you are still getting support. I don’t think it’s the worst way of going about it as it gives you security without thinking “what if”.

No one is forcing anyone to pick Oushk - if it works for you then great otherwise stick to who you like. I personally don’t get the need to put down a company that is a little different and more patient focused.

Surely it would only be a scam if they were offering something they do not actually provide? Of the suppliers at the moment, I find their maintenance offer the most transparent. I'm not nearly there yet, and other suppliers may well come up with alternative maintenance offers, but I am thinking of moving to Oushk because the answer I got from MedExpress about their maintenance provision was just a vague 'we will support you up to two years'. Each to his or her own I suppose!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/10/2024 17:17

@sangriaandsunshine how is it a scam? Can you explain your reasons please? There is no charge to be on their maintenance plans that provide medication (in fact, there is a 15% discount per pen and free delivery) and only a £20 a month fee to stay on their books and have ongoing consultations without using any medication.

As a business model to 'make a lot of money', it seems a pretty poor one to me!

sangriaandsunshine · 20/10/2024 19:20

Perhaps not a scam but a genius money making scheme then. £20 a month isn't much for the individual and there is the benefit that it gives you 15% off future pens (although the flip side of this means that you are further tied into them) yet a mere 500 people on this generates £10,000 a month for Oushk which, if you compare that to its most recent balance sheet, is a huge amount. Whilst I realise that that was 18+ months ago and a huge amount can change with a start up in a short period of time, they didn't actually have any assets then so, if this scheme fails, then there is nothing to bring a claim against.
I suppose you could view it as any other insurance policy which you buy for the peace of mind and hope not to use but, if you do, you are tied into a particular provider. A bit like some pet insurance policies - except for they tend to have more of a history and more assets behind them.

I don’t thinks it’s that serious.

Jeez, you are quite obsessive about this......... You are not "tied" to them at £20/month forever, if another provider will offer a more suitable maintenance plan for you then you are free to move at any time.

Have you checked the history and balance sheets of all the providers or is this just an Oushk hate? Are you generally negative towards all small/new businesses that have to start somewhere? Are you one of these people that are a hater of Apple, EVs, etc rather than just accept Oushk like the other pharmacies are a choice in an open market that individuals can choose to use or not?

I don't see any tangible reason for such strong negative feelings towards a business you decided was just not what you were looking for and chose not to use 🤷🏻‍♀️

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/10/2024 22:05

I quite fancy going with Oushk but their emphasis on video 'chat's freaks me out a bit. I'd prefer a phone call or better, just an email, but I guess they want to see if you are really thin or not / the weight you say you are. I wish they would just take your word for it, or use the photos.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 20/10/2024 22:16

@Orangesandlemons77 I have just done the consultation form and didn't see an emphasis on video calls at all! From everything I have read, they only ask for a video call for new customers (not maintenance) if they have any further questions about your information on the form. Nothing to do with seeing your weight!

You know, there are really only two things putting me off Oushk:

  1. The cost of their higher doses (don't know why as I’m about to order my 4th 5mg pen!😂)
  2. The gushy behaviour of a lot of their customers in the fb support group! Honestly, it's sooo off putting! 😂 Somebody even posted today that they hoped they weren't too 'fan girl' in their maintenance consultation 'staring into Hira's eyes' 🤢

I saw that post today on FB and had a chuckle and an eye roll 😄

I switched to Oushk from Voy after my first pen because of all the discount codes flying about. I just wanted a reputable pharmacy with support and fairly priced meds. I like i can choose my delivery and yep I like it because it's girly. They do special offers site wide and sometimes free delivery. I'll be choosing a maintenance plan with them when I'm ready. Oh and just to annoy the oushk haters, I want my personalised water bottle when I place my 5th order 😂 x

doodleschnoodle · 20/10/2024 22:19

God the FB group really is something, isn't it?! I'm in there for discount codes and news but some of the posts are bordering on creepy. Parasocial relationships ahoy.

doodleschnoodle · 20/10/2024 22:22

And I didn't have a video chat. I switched from
Asda after one month and just emailed the photo I had sent them and a pic of my pen prescription and it was fine.

From what I gather from the FB group, video chats are for non-standard cases, so someone wanting to start who is 29 BMI or something or people with certain health conditions, or those wanting to go onto maintenance. I don't think they have the time for video chats for standard prescriptions!

Hate to disappoint but that was a limited freebie to the first so many hundred customers and as far as I know finished now (I didn't get one either as only on my 2nd pen from them). You can purchase but they are extortionately priced!

You will probably get the "cute" 🙄 measuring tape, but it is actually pretty useless as it doesn't start at 0 so I can't measure my waist as I can't see where it starts due to my upper tummy obscuring my view 😳 A standard measuring tape is much better. I use the Oushk one as a fidget toy instead when I am on boring work zoom calls.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 21/10/2024 06:59

@WeAllHaveWings 😂 'fidget toy'!!

85reasons · 21/10/2024 07:26

Loving this Oushk chat. I’m on the FB group too - too right there are some obsessive types on there - I think it’s the combination of it being FB, it being heavily girly, plus the giddiness of people losing lots of weight. You will not find me posting photos of myself in my pants!

@sangriaandsunshine finding it quite amusing that you’ve been checking the filing returns of Oushk. It doesn’t tell you anything there about turnover anyway, just assets to debtors/creditors. But funny nonetheless. Totally agree with the others, it’s a free market, everyone can do what they want, Oushk have clearly decided they want their USP to be prioritising the customer and a personalised approach - if that’s not for you, who cares?!

Orangesandlemons77 · 21/10/2024 10:53

FB is a funny place isn't it.

NippyCrab · 21/10/2024 19:41

@WeAllHaveWings aw well never mind, I thought I had read on the group that it was when you had placed 5 orders with them, I definitely don't really need another water bottle 😅

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 31/12/2024 00:02

Sorry to bump the thread but what is the monthly maintwnance cost at higher doses?

I'm not there yet at all but looking ahead.
