I’m finding it a good thing to be hungry, I know I won’t be able to change my mindset if I never feel hungry.

I feel like this drug is there to help me manage my hunger and changes to my diet. It’s letting me prioritise whole foods, to cook from scratch and make better choices about if I need a snack because I’m hungry or not because it’s boredom/emotion.

I think if I was completely disconnected from hunger I could heavily restrict calories and lose a load of weight … but inevitably it would go back on when I stopped taking MJ.

MJ could be the key to building a healthy relationship with food for the rest of my life, but that involves hard work and lots of self reflection.

@Thehop I wondered about this as all the information on discarding any left over doses after 30 days (or in some cases 21 days) is based on not keeping the pen in the fridge. There doesn't seem to be anything in the information leaflet with the pen that says how long it can be used for if you keep it in the fridge.

LucyBnotG · 28/10/2024 15:21

For needles to fit the pen I bought these. They matched the needles that came with my first pen. There is a delivery charge but I did shop around are cheaper (just) than places that sell them with free delivery. https://www.chemist-4-u.com/carepoint-pen-needles-31g-4mm-pack-of-100

As you're wanting to take a larger dose than your pen is designed to give, you might prefer using syringes (designed for insulin) to extract your increased dose in one go. I use these for my bonus dose but you could use it to extract 0.9ml from your 2.5mg pen to give one dose of 3.75mg. The syringe goes up in units to 100 units which equals 1ml so 0.9ml would be 90 units. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CGDMPDB5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Sorry for the info overload but I hope that helps.

Thank you so much, so helpful x

@HippoPortlyMouse yes ditto - I feel like the dose is right.. just need the scales to move. I really want to get below 180 and the scales have been hovering at 181-183 for over two weeks.

I have a 7.5mg pen arriving on Friday and definitely don't want to go up to 7.5mg yet.. am tempted to order another one with Oushk as they have a good discount on till 4th but am slightly getting ahead of myself 😆

Honestly finding this journey so fascinating. I've spent years restricting food - thinking I can't have carbs because if I do I go overboard and can end up bingeing. The fact I can eat with my teens.. but be moderate.. make cakes with them on occasion and not fear that it's going to lead to me eating an embarrassing amount of it (with them upset at me for doing so)... it feels so great to be more 'normal' around food.

SpottyBumPony · 29/10/2024 08:14

Week 9, I had a big whoosh this week. I mis-calculated by dose last week and took more than I probably needed. It certainly showed in my suppression, to the point where I was too supressed and didn't eat enough. I had more than a few moments of feeling weary, weak or lightheaded. I'm going to count clicks to 3mg from a 5mg pen this week.

30/08/2024 - 122.5kg
03/09/2024 - 120.9kg, first dose 2.5 of MJ
10/09/2024 - 118.3kg, second dose 2.5 of MJ
17/09/2024 - 116.2kg, third dose 2.5 of MJ
24/09/2024 - 112.4kg, forth dose 2.5 of MJ
01/10/2024 - 112.4kg, fifth dose 2.5 of MJ
08/10/2024 - 111.0kg, sixth dose 2.5 of MJ
15/10/2024 - 109.8kg, seventh dose 2.5 of MJ
22/10/2024 - 108.5kg, eighth dose 3.75 of MJ
29/10/2024 - 105.9kg, ninth dose 3 of MJ

Loss - 16.6kg … a mid-sized microwave 📟
Goal - to be in the healthy BMI range (70.3kg)

I feel guilty about posting when I'm having a big loss, I don't want to make other posters feel bad about more moderate losses. I started at over 19 stone so have a lot to lose!

It strikes me though that some people who are feeling that they aren't losing much are relying on MJ to reduce their appetite.

I'm not a weightless expert but if it helps this is what I am doing:

  • recording my what I eat, but not calorie counting
  • trying to improve my gut health
  • reducing my meat intake and increasing beans and pulses
  • eating as much variety of plants (veg, fruit, herbs and spices) as I can
  • trying new recipes
  • cooking from scratch more and reducing processed food/UPF's
  • eating takeaway food/cafe food/McD's in moderation if that's what we are having as a family
  • eating chocolate if I want it, but a small amount of high quality & % cocoa
  • intermittent fasting
  • increasing how much I walk by walking at lunchtimes at work, or getting dropped off on the way home and walking back at the weekends
  • weight training, I've started going to a class at the gym

I find listening to the Zoe Health Podcast very helpful, it's given me ideas of some books to read about food, diet and weightless.

Thanks @doodleschnoodle !! I’ll look for it

I’ve been ill for the last week, with some kind of virus. Feeling pretty rough and can’t decide whether to take today’s jab as usual or delay a few days. Feeling too unwell to eat much, so not needing the suppression, but worried that I’ll then feel worse when I re-jab. What have others done when ill?

I would take as usual. The routine is important as it builds towards a cumulative effect, it's why we start with a small dose and then titrate up and when we're stopping we titrate down. If at all possible would try to stick to that routine.

I have also been ill but i wouldnt miss a dose hope you feel bettet soon x

Well I'm feeling the nausea today! The day after my 3rd 5mg jab!
But I've worked out that I get more side effects like this if I inject in my stomach! My first 5 jabs were all in my arm, next to no side effects,my 6th jab(first 5mg) I did in my stomach and woah did I feel the side effects! Didn't know if it was the 5mg or the different jab site so The next one I went back to arm and last week was fine , yesterday I did in my stomach and the side effects are back along with super suppression!

20bloodypounds · 29/10/2024 11:07

@SpottyBumPony post abut your fantastic losses, be pleased and proud Smile I find it is a balancing act, I'm still taking 2.5mg, although slightly more frequently to titrate up, and I certainly don't envy your feeling of much too supression and not being able to eat enough. Nor your experiences of feeling weary, weak or lightheaded!

It is a good opportunity to change our eating habits. I love to cook and we get a veg box delivered but I'd got lazy and demotivated and there was far too much cheese being eaten! I mostly do 16/8 IF because otherwise I don't have any appetite for dinner, but I also mix it up a bit, so my body doesn't get complacent. Yesterday I had avocado and seeds on toast for breakfast, ham and vegetable frittata for lunch and a home-made salmon poke bowl with a load of salad veggies for dinner. This morning I've lost a pound.

Onwards and downwards for us all [fingers crossed]

@Thornymum I've always jabbed in my thigh, but wondered about other people reporting different impacts from different injection sites.

Thornymum · 29/10/2024 11:09

@20bloodypounds I might try my thigh next week , see if it's any better/worse!
If nothing else it'll mean I definitely know which is the best place for me!

85reasons · 29/10/2024 11:40

I agree @SpottyBumPony - post away!

85reasons · 29/10/2024 11:41

I can't understand jabbing in thigh or arm - for some reason I feel squeamish about doing it there so always do my abdomen.

For me I didn't really want to do my tummy as I had a bad experience with having to inject in my tummy for 2 months before the birth of my last baby and 4 months afterwards and I bruised black and blue so my natural instinct was just nope!!

However after seeing and feeling how teeny and painless the needles are and no bruising I thought I'd give it a try as the tummy does seem to be the obvious and easiest place

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/10/2024 11:47

Well done on your losses @SpottyBumPony you're doing great!

I've got a beef casserole in the slow cooker, autumn feels like it's properly here and I fancy something comforting. I'm in my Halloween dresses this week and the size 20 I've got on today is a bit baggy round the boobs, which I'm actually a bit sad about because I love this dress so might have to get it taken in or turned into something else when I get to my goal.

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/10/2024 12:19

I'm noticing this week that some food has been wasted and needs to go out in the recycling, that would be unusual before.

20bloodypounds · 29/10/2024 12:34

@Orangesandlemons77 better to go out in the food recycling than being cycled through your body! I'm still learning to cook smaller portions - the freezer is full of 'left-overs' most of which are unlabelled, which we be interesting once I've forgotten what they are!

LucyBnotG · 29/10/2024 12:38

Like many of you I'm interested in the relationship (if any) between jab site and suppression/side effects. I read anecdotally that thigh gave fewer side effects so I have done that from day one. It works for me so I haven't dared change it. I'm glad that we all find what works for us and perhaps I'll venture to the stomach if I want to mix it up one day.

Orangesandlemons77 · 29/10/2024 12:42

I suppose that is true about the recycling! It just seems like a waste with the cost of everything, I'll adjust to it in the weekly shopping I expect!

InfoSecInTheCity · 29/10/2024 12:59

I use belly, my only problem is the instructions say to alternate sides so you're not jabbing the same spot and I appear to be completely incapable of remembering where I jabbed last week, and when I've tried to be organised and write it down I forget where I wrote it or forget to look before jabbing to see what I wrote.

So far it's not been a problem so I've decided to just jab and stop trying to think because I'm clearly failing at the thinking 😂
